I bought the Merry People boots you keep seeing everywhere, here are my thoughts

“Merry People Bobbi boots are absolutely marvellous. Have walked probably hundreds of miles in mine and they are warm, waterproof, comfortable etc. Worth the investment!” anothertrainwreck

Merry People Bobbi Wellington Boots, £85

Ask my DH and he’ll agree, I get major FOMO when I see something trending online. Call it a shopping addiction, call it retail therapy - at the end of the day when all is quiet in the house and both our DC are sound asleep, I tend to get lost in the never ending scroll that almost always ends in add to basket

Be it on Instagram, TikTok or here on Mumsnet itself, there’s one brand I keep seeing pop up time and time again recently and while I hate to admit it, I was sold rather quickly: Merry People. More specifically, the Merry People Bobbi Wellington boots

I was going to say Merry People too. They’re really comfy. I wear mine all the time (probably when I shouldn’t wear wellies!)

Now, if you’re yet to be graced with a Merry People ad on your smartphone, you might be wondering why I’m recommending a pair of wellies in blooming April. Given the fact that since October 2022 England has seen the highest amount of rain for any 18-month period since the early 1800s, can you blame me for wanting to find shoes that I can wear comfortably at any point in the year without worrying about soggy socks?

Merry People Bobbi Wellington Boots, £85

What we like
  • Arch support

  • 12 month warranty included

  • 100% waterproof and 100% vegan

  • Made of flexible neoprene and quality, natural rubber

  • Pull tabs to slip on/off easily

  • Can use your own orthotics inside

What we don't like
  • Extra care is required to maintain your boots if you’ve walked through mud

  • Natural rubber can fade and crack more easily (so should always be stored indoors)

First of all, they’re not just wellies. Sure, they’re 100% waterproof and made of quality, natural rubber so are in fact, a wellington boot in terms of material. But these fully lined boots offer so much more than a boot made for wet weather. In fact, the 100% vegan Bobbi boots can be worn all year round thanks to their Chelsea boot style design.

I just got some Merry People Bobbi boots from tramping around in the park/in the rain with my toddler and so far I find them to be warm and comfortable and I’ve worn them with jeans, dresses and tights. I was boring and got brown so they look like regular footwear but I sort of wish I got the bright pink ones!

As a mum of two preschoolers who lives in the countryside with a dog on a farm, I’m pretty much bound to my tall wellies from the months of September through to April. So, you can imagine how excited I was to buy and receive my own pair of Rust coloured Bobbi boots recently. I opted for the Rust colour, since I found this to be the most versatile colour for my own wardrobe - but I am lusting after the Mustard ones, I'll admit.

Like Fleur, I too have worn my new boots with jeans and a dress so far, and I can envision myself continuing to wear them until that one week in the year when my flip flops make an appearance. I mean, just because their wellies doesn’t mean they should be restricted to winter. Plus, given the fact that the UK’s weather is 90% wellies and 10% flip flop weather each year, I think these Merry People Bobbi boots are a worthy, long-lasting investment IMHO.

Not keen on Merry People? Here are some similar boots that Mumsnetters recommend, too.
