The brand of period pants our Mumsnet users swear by

Beyond being environmentally friendly and sustainable, the right pair of period pants should be reliably comfortable and shouldn’t leak. But which brand of period underwear is the right one for you? As ever, our discerning Mumsnet users are on hand to help, with plenty of discussions over the best pair of period pants to purchase.

One standout brand is M&S. Their period pants have become a trusted go-to for many a Mumsnetter during that time of the month. In fact, Marks’ reputation for quality womenswear is currently a huge conversation over on our style and beauty board, with Mumsnet user thesnailandthewhale sharing that the retailer appears to have “really turned a corner” with Toooldforthis36 adding that they’re “seriously improved of late.”

Of course, the buzz around M&S extends well beyond dresses and jeans as their period knickers also receive glowing endorsements from our users.

It appears that M&S's period pants are popular for several, compelling reasons. Firstly, Mumsnetters claim that they offer reliable comfort and protection during menstruation, and effectively prevent leaks to provide extra security throughout the day.

One heavy flow pair lasts me until I get home from work, then I change [them] for overnight. I have M&S ones and have never had an issue with smells or leakage.

They’re also praised for being durable and their ability to withstand repeated wear and washing cycles without losing effectiveness. In fact, they can be tumble dried, as Mumsnet user Patchw0rk was delighted to share: “I like my M&S ones as you can tumble dry them!”

There’s a wide range of styles and sizes offered that cater to different body types and personal preferences. Plus, you can select the right period pants for different phases of your period - including light absorbency for the start and end of your period, as well as heavy absorbency for your heavier days.

I usually wear them on light days or as a backup so only change when I would normal pants. At times when I have worn them for regular days I have changed them after work but they absorb well so have been ok during the day. Mine are M&S.
I got DD11 some from M&S. A three pack and they have different absorbency levels. She is really pleased with them and feels comfortable in them. They don’t do sizes in age, so I got her size 6 and that works well.

And finally, not only are they comfortable and effective, but several environmentally conscious mums on Mumsnet choose M&S period knickers as they’re more sustainable than disposable sanitary towels and tampons.

As LuckOfTheDrawer explains: “Well, for me the point is that these are hopefully more environmentally friendly than disposable sanitary protection, and I also appreciate not having to change them during the day when I'm at work etc.”
