Start using Mumsnet PremiumCPS has withdrawn Hate Crime guidance for schools this afternoon
(83 Posts)If you didn't know.
Just well done to everyone who noticed, who complained who did something. This is fantastic news. The law has not yet been captured.
I hope this has really positive implications for the Safe School Alliance challenge.

Oh YES!!!!!!
Wonderful.
What was the guidance? Haven’t heard anything about this before
Doo doo doo
Another bites the dust...
This is brilliant!
All of you involved with this? You rock!
It's about bloody time. Out of all the awful trans guidelines (and there's plenty of choice in terms of breaching safeguarding, parental alienation etc) this was the most sinister and unpleasant in terms of grooming children and young people to ignore boundaries.
Hopefully this will get plenty of press coverage as currently schools (understandably) uncritically obey what organisations like the CPS, Stonewall etc dictate to them.
Well done to SSAUK and that courageous young woman
Oh my gosh!
What a relief.
This has really cheered me up - definitely a step in the right direction!
A load of blokes in wigs in a court telling a teenage girl she must get naked in a changing room with boys or be prosecuted for hate speech would have been such a good look. Shame
This is brilliant news. Thanks to all involved for forcing the CPS to backtrack. Hopefully this will nudge a few more of those dominos.
Excellent !!
The irony that they had to take legal advice before it was pulled
Wonderful news! Well done to everyone involved and especially the brave young girl at the centre of the case.
Yay! Well done everyone!
The irony that they had to take legal advice before it was pulled
Yep, you would think legal advice earlier on in the process would have been a good idea, like at the start?
Huge congratulations to all who campaigned on this.
As an aside if not already spotted, stonewall say they've appointed their new CEO and will say in the next few weeks who it is and when they start (published on their website on April 21).

<dances>
Excellent.
This is excellent news. Well done everyone!
Yay, the house of cards is tumbling down, at last.
Interesting Toots
If ever there was a time to hit the brakes and reverse this then appointing a new CEO is it.
It would be a convenient way to explain away previous decisions with a change of tack.
We'd better watch closely.
Fantastic news! A real achievement by everyone who opposed this. Great result!
spero what happens to the SSA challenge now? There is no guarantee that CPS won't just reissue the guidance more or less intact. It would be good to have someone say it was illegal and why.
Good work everyone!
