AIBU - or just paranoid - to say I'm getting the impression that a significant part of transactivism is massively lowering thresholds on pornography as well as safeguarding?

Also, it looks like a barrister named Leo Charalambides might be somehow connected to Edward Lord OBE who started the consultation on single-sex spaces in the City of London.

There is a barrister by that exact name in the film I just mentioned.

Edward Lord recent threads:

Edward Lord's partner is Dr Meg-John Barker:
"Barker's main area of expertise is human sexuality, gender and romantic relationships, with a focus on the experiences of people in sexual, gender and relationship communities located outside the mainstream – particularly polyamorous,[6] kink,[7] non-binary[8] and bisexual communities. Theoretically their work draws on social constructionism, existentialism and Buddhist philosophy. Barker, with co-author Darren Langdridge, has published two edited collections on sadomasochism[9] and on non-monogamy.[10] and a recent book for mental health professionals (co-authored with Christina Richards). Barker founded the journal of Psychology & Sexuality[11] together with Langdridge in 2010, and they co-edited it until 2017. Barker co-organized the Critical Sexology[12] series from 2006 to 2018, and BiReCon[13] (a biennial research conference which takes place prior to the annual BiCon event).

Barker's activism in the area of LGBT&Q rights has been recognized by placement in the top 40 of The Independent on Sunday newspaper's Pink List,[23] and Rainbow List.[24] Barker was one of the founder members of BiUK, the organization for bisexual research and activism.[25] This group wrote the international guidelines for academics studying bisexuality (published in Journal of Bisexuality) and produced The Bisexuality Report which informs UK policy and practice regarding bisexuality based on the evidence regarding biphobia, bisexual invisibility, and mental health[26] In 2013, Barker took home an Erotic Award in the academic category for the book Rewriting the Rules, as reported in Times Higher Education[27]. Their current activism focuses on trans and non-binary communities[28]."

Fancy that. It's a small world! Must be tons of UK barristers called Leo Charalambides though, to be fair.

Edward Lord

"Lord was deputy chairman of the City of London Corporation's 2012 Committee, leading on all aspects of the City's engagement with the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and was granted a full accreditation at both Games. He is now the City's Lead Member for Olympic and Paralympic Legacy.

"In late 2012, he joined the Inclusion Advisory Group of the London Football Association, becoming its chairman in February 2013. In October 2013 he was appointed by the Football Association to chair anti-discrimination related disciplinary commissions and in December 2013 as a member of the FA Inclusion Advisory Board."

cf Delia Johnston interview about her career with FA and Olympics:

April 2018 Daily Mail article:
'Cabinet minister prompts transgender row after backing Mumsnet users 'leading backlash against militant activists.
Cabinet minister Liz Truss has incurred the wrath of the transgender community:Tweeted article which praised forum for letting users 'question the tenets' of transgenderism'

"Last night Delia Johnston, the former head of a charity campaigning for trans sportspeople to be allowed to compete in their chosen gender, condemned Ms Truss. Ms Johnston said: ‘She is giving kudos to Mumsnet who are particularly vicious on this particular front. Truss could be investigated for backing a group that is effectively advocating violence against the transgender community. She may be a terf in disguise.’

Amazing how all these links keep appearing. Might just be a massive coincidence but I suspect not.

Jane Fae raises so many red flags for me I could make bunting.

Guardian article 2013, 'Voices from the trans community: 'There will always be prejudice'
In 25 years, [James Barrett is the lead clinician at the Charing Cross Gender Identity Clinic], has seen trans people become "a networked bunch" – more so than other people, he thinks – thanks to the internet. Lees, who also works for Trans Media Action, says social media is the "essential catalyst" for the transformation of trans people in society. "Society is in transition and we've woken up from the operation and there's no going back. We can't pretend that trans people don't exist any more," she says. "People have been taking the piss out of trans people for 60 years. The narrative on trans issues has been controlled by people who have no understanding of them. Social media is about us grabbing the narrative back and telling our own stories – this is our reality, this is what we go through and this is what matters to us. We're here, we're in your face, we definitely exist. That's the most important thing – realising we exist."

This is all so insanely sinister I can't keep up. Thanks to everyone on this thread for your sterling work. Has anyone alerted Janice Turner or Andrew Gilligan to these threads?

Incidentally, Ben Westwood, the wispy haired fetish photographer is Vivienne Westwood's son. He now does crap fashion

heresyandwitchcraft Sat 04-Aug-18 15:22:48

Ben Westwood is featured in this BBC article -

From next year, possession of images such as those showing a threat to life or serious injury to a person's genitals will be banned.

Demonstrators opposite Parliament described this as the government interfering with people's sex lives.

The demonstration, organised by the Consenting Adult Action Network, was led by photographer Ben Westwood, son of fashion designer Dame Vivienne Westwood.

Leo Charalambides
Sexual Entertainment Venues
'He is well known for his knowledge and expertise in Sex Establishment Licensing and continues to advise operators, the police and local authorities; he regularly lectures on the subject and has contributed a number of related articles to the Westlaw Insight project. Recently he has secured an SEV located in the City of Canterbury, acted for the police in opposing a renewal for an SEV in Soho and advised Birmingham City Council on the review of its SEV policy.'

BettyDuMonde Sat 04-Aug-18 15:28:30

I used to know Ben Westwood’s half brother - Joseph Corre, founder of expensive lingerie company Agent Provacateur (not suggesting Joe is particularly sinister, just pointing out another link to open attitudes to sexuality/kink).

birdbandit Sat 04-Aug-18 15:34:44

Well this is getting very interesting for me. I can't out, but we've talked on the transwidows thread about STBXH being high up in UK internet marketing. I have no knowledge as to whether he is caught up in any of this, but I can see why someone with his skill set and reach would be targeted.

ConfessionsOfTeenageDramaQueen Sat 04-Aug-18 15:36:09

It appears Greta Williams Schultz is also known as Greta Friedlander

link: (Screenshot below)

All this name change business is very interesting isn't it...

Also don't know if this has been posted already but it's hilarious: Bradley did a sponsored swim to provide trans women with "access to hair removal treatment".

"We desperately need hair removal services which are affordable".

What about women, Jess? Do we suddenly go lady-dicks once our leg and pit hair reaches a certain length? Don't we desperately need access to hair removal services too??

A group called Scottish Women Against Pornography provided very gender-critical feminist analysis as part of their evidence to the Trans Equality Report 2016.

Scottish Women Against Pornography is a women only Feminist organisation which campaigns for womens' right to be accorded autonomy and freedom from male oppression/male power. This includes campaigning for an end to pandemic male violence in all its forms against women and children; challenging mainstreaming and acceptance of mens' Pornographic and Prostitution Industries as 'empowering to women' rather than normalising male oppression over all women. Campaigning for male hatred/incitement to commit male violence against women be criminalised as a 'hate crime against all women because their sex is female.'

This is interesting, because CAAN has a whole page that is almost dedicated to fighting this group of feminists:

Pornography has been under attack in Scotland for many years. CAAN-Scotland completed a Freedom of Information Request to uncover the extent of support and evidence for the extreme pornography legislation which highlighted PE476 back in 2002-3 before Liz Longhurst was tragically murdered. (See Correspondence 13.)

PE476 was done by the group Scottish Women Against Pornography, and the petition is currently listed as having 2 – yes, TWO – signatures.

heresyandwitchcraft Sat 04-Aug-18 15:51:13

CAAN's campaigns:

CAAN’s Main focus at the moment is on generating awareness of the ludicrous nature of the extreme porn law, taking action about the creation of the porn ban in Scotland, and where possible raising awareness of the appalling effect on individual livelihoods that the Vetting Law could have, if enacted literally. We are also getting ready to show conspicuous support for anyone who is arrested for possessing pornographic images of consenting adults.

CAAN has links to:

International Union of Sex Workers (IUSW) who campaign for the human, civil and labour rights of those who work in the sex industry.

Backlash have been fighting the plans to criminalise ownership of material the Home Office finds abhorrent, at this stage are preparing to support people who are arrested for owning extreme pornography.

Spanner Trust, which exists to defend the rights of sadomasochists of all sexual orientations and specifically to reverse the UK court ruling which made certain SM activities illegal even though all parties consent.

Sexual Freedom Coalition brings together all the groups campaigning for sexual freedom, to form a united force. We also campaign ourselves when we feel this is necessary, and speak out for sexual freedom at every opportunity.

TimeLady Sat 04-Aug-18 16:08:05

Goodness. These are all very sleazy and sordid connections - but suddenly reasons how and why transgender activism has apparently come out of nowhere and is being so ruthlessly promoted is starting to make some sort of sense.

And not in a good way.

(And no, Jess Bradley, just because we're now taking a look at others, doesn't mean you've slipped under the radar. This is still the Jess Bradley sleaze thread, Part III)

HeresIdea852 Sat 04-Aug-18 16:08:46

Influencing the media:

"These meet-ups have led to outcomes including the award-winning BBC Two sitcom Boy Meets Girl, two trans actors playing trans characters on Hollyoaks and EastEnders, three Radio 1 documentaries hosted by Paris Lees, All4 hosting My Trans Story – a collection of shorts created by two trans filmmakers and produced by All About Trans, as well as guidelines for covering trans related stories in collaboration with the Independent Press Standards Organisation. The work has leveraged over £5.5 million in programming." from

Trustee "Sarah Lennox (under the name Richard Brassey) is the bestselling author/illustrator of many books for children..." is co-signatory on with a number of people mentioned on this thread.

Did we already know that Jane Fae has self-published a whole book about Internet Porn?

heresyandwitchcraft Sat 04-Aug-18 16:33:25

And the article on this website that she has apparently written (linked to from the CAAN site) appears to describe her like this:

"Jane Fae is a journalist, campaigner and co-convenor of the Consenting Adult Action Network, and is the author of soon to be published book on online regulation of porn, Taming the Beast."

Back to Jess! Was it discussed in the other thread about Jess and Greta suddenly resigning from ATH in March (along with the 3rd director) and the registered company address being changed?

Since the new Jess (Fairbairn) took over as the only director, there have been zero blog posts. What happened in March?

This thread is not accepting new messages.
