The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Sweet, Summer Sobriety!

Hey, I'm Mouse Smile

Welcome to the Battle Bus! We're a group of travelling drinkers of varying levels, those who are teetotal, and those who have tried so many times to stop, those are 'controlled' drinkers, but we NEVER give up and keep coming back for the support we share, and trying to get some kind of control over the Wicked Wine Bitch Witch!

It's not easy, boy, it's so not easy to stop or cut down some days. There are days when even the Bravest Babes fall into the Sidecar. And do you know what? That's okay. Smile

There is NO judgey pants worn on this Bus and you don't have to be anyone other than YOU to join us Smile

So, come and grab a seat, some Opal fruits, (it'll make sense eventually!)) and meet the rest of the Babes. Remember, you're not on your own, ever with us, you'll always have a Babe you can relate to.

Here's the last thread for you to catch up on if you like Smile

And here's where the entire journey began. Smile

Hi everyone. I hopped on the bus a while back when I was struggling with sobriety.

I'm now 17 months sober.

Have an Opal Fruit, but can I pilfer a red one? I still get massive sugar cravings.

Mouse you're my hero, despite not feeling good what a fantastic opener.

Ma the garden photos are lovely, lexy has decided she doesn't like my hydrangeas so it's a bit of a shit heap just now.

Hello all babes old and new, I'm 2 sleeps from 30 so I'd better get my arse into gear. Someone chuck me a purple opal fruit

Interview was good but I suspect I wont get the job. They hardly asked me anything. It's something I've always wanted to do. It's a good career to get into. I hate being old.

Morning babes.Stressful day yesterday but the yoga helped and I stayed AF Smile. Dp had a couple of tins in the bath which is an improvement too. I am learning to keep my head more when the storms all about me. I have a secret plan formulating to train as a yoga teacher. So many people say to me they'd love to do it but can't for different reasons. They're putting obstacles in their way mainly. I'm not looking to charge money and thinking of inviting people for guided home practice rather than a class. Anyway those plans are distracting me nicely at the moment Smile

But mint you got an interview so you must have some chance? Something to work towards maybe.

fish 17 months?! That's amazing. Bloody well done. Right I've been running already so must crack on with some work. Dd not in school again today Sad but hoping for tomorrow. I'm off to catch up with a poorly colleague later.

Yes 17 months is awesome, fish! Do you have any tips for the rest of us? I'm sober over 100 days (which I never thought I'd be able to say) and still feel very new to this and want to learn all I can.

Can I have an orange Opal Fruit please? And can someone link to the explanation of why the opal fruits anyway? I must have missed that bit...

Mint you sound a bit deflated by your interview. If it's not yet a "no" it might still be a "yes"...

Welcome to mermaid - glad you found us!

stilllearnin your yoga teaching plan sounds brilliant. I know someone who ended up training and became a yoga teacher in her spare time and LOVES it. You should go for it!

I have no idea where the Opal Fruits came from originally. They are just the sweet of choice on the bus and a rebellion against the name "Starburst" which we refuse to accept. And all the green ones are mine!

Tips? Er, try to catch yourself before rock bottom sadly. I crashed in literal and metaphorical style. I also go to AA.

Drinking had grown and grown. A night out. Nights in with friends. Nights out where I made an idiot of myself. And then many nights in alone. Ending up with a complete breakdown and 24/7 for a bit.

All I can really suggest is that it can get better. I pretty much destroyed my life and was very lucky I didn't physically hurt anyone. Mentally? Yes. And that will be a long process.

Drink lots of water and sugar cravings are normal.

Keep going, babes.

UnwiseOldElf · 14/06/2017 14:29

I go to AA too. The people there, and the understanding, are brilliant. And yes to the sugar cravings! It's all connected, isn't it?
