We have finally finished the nursery for our first baby (minus the wooden letters spelling out his name above the cot!).

We're not doing one as the baby will sleep in our room for first 6 months at least. We might make one when it's time to switch to a toddler bed but keeping it open for now. Our spare room is our office at the moment! Well done for your efforts x

PawPatrolMakesMeDrink · 02/05/2020 14:54

That tree looks lovely. Is it painted?
We’re not doing one. Babe will be in with us for 6 months and then will be going onto the bottom bunk of bunk beds that it will be sharing with it’s big bro.

MrsRose2018 · 02/05/2020 15:01

Oh same, for the first 6 months baby will be in a snuz pod next to our bed in our room!

We've just had a sad history of MC so when we hit 20+ weeks couldn't help ourselves and celebrated! Also when we hit lockdown needed something to keep us occupied!

Yes hand painted! Everything I that room is by my husbands hand - I shaded in some leaves 😂

Looks lovely, but we are also waiting until the baby is older before we do the nursery. Purely selfish because I like having it as a dressing room 😂 but yours looks lovely x

Connie222 · 02/05/2020 15:03

That’s lovely!!

I’ve only ever had a nursery for my first. There was an 11 year age gap between Ds and Dd and we were in a two bed, she didn’t have her own room until we moved when she was two.

This one won’t have one either, will be in with us until she can go in a bottom bunk! I’m always so envious of people who can decorate a nursery.

Mucklowe · 02/05/2020 15:03

I only wish we had room for one! Currently in a one-bed flat. We were planning to move before Covid hit.

Parker231 · 02/05/2020 15:05

We didn’t have a nursery. DT’s were in our room for the first six months and then we separated them into their own rooms as they were waking each other up. We didn’t do any specific decorating until they were about three when DS wanted a airplane theme and DD cars.

MrsRose2018 · 02/05/2020 15:07

Sorry... this post kind of had the opposite effect of what I had intended :( x

It's gorgeous OP!

Had such fun decorating DD's room before she was born. Expecting our second and desperate for restrictions to lift so we can decorate new babies room too. Grin

NicNac100 · 02/05/2020 15:12

We've got a Snuzpod set up in our room for the first 6 months and have put together her cot in what will be her bedroom but due to lockdown we can't do much else as we've still got a double bed in there as a spare room, so her changing table will pretty much be a changing mat on the bed for now lol! Your nursery looks absolutely gorgeous, you've done a lovely job! xx

MrsRose2018 · 02/05/2020 15:14

@MrsMyreton Thank you so much! I’m blown away by what my husbands managed to do!!

Luckily we got our paint and wallpaper the DAY before lockdown happened and B&Q closed but everything else is an online job! They deliver everything brought through the back gate into the garden and DH sprays the shit out of the boxes with Detol and then unpacks everything before moving inside!

Choosing curtains/a rug was harder online cos I like touch and feel and things look different in pictures but honestly it’s been rather therapeutic and given me a bit of light in lockdown choosing bits and bobs for his nursery!!

Couple of things left to do in our nursery but almost there! When are you due? Xx

MrsRose2018 · 02/05/2020 15:16

@NicNac100 we only moved in last July and had another MC before the decorating could start So thankfully that room remained empty!

Honestly try getting some bits online if you’re ok with that and have ways of safely get it inside! Could your partner dismantle the spare bed and store it under something in the garden (if you have one) or somewhere else in your house/flat?

MrsRose2018 · 02/05/2020 15:17

@babyboy20 we actually have no idea lol! My original due date was 18 July but my waters broke at 25 weeks so theoretically he could come at any moment. If he doesn’t and I don’t get an infection I’ll be induced at 34-37 weeks!

What about you? x

What an absolutely beautiful room! Your excitement and love for your little one are palpable Smile

Lilice · 02/05/2020 15:21

@mrsrose2018 looks amazing! I haven't started mine yet as it's being used as my office at the moment but I'm going for grey walls and white furniture (dont know the sex). I think this is a great thread and I'm curious to see more pictures !

MrsRose2018 · 02/05/2020 15:22

@babyboy20 I didn't see the pic on the main site for some reason but it's come up on the app!

Your nursery looks so tranquil!! I love the feature wall!

What bouncer did you get? I'm still debating ours!

babyboy20 · 02/05/2020 15:23

@MrsMyreton I am due 6th of July! Fingers crossed he holds out a little longer xxx

Apples6544 · 02/05/2020 15:26

Looks lovely! How exciting!! I’m desperately waiting for our carpet fitters to reopen so we can have it laid and then finally build our furniture in baby’s room!

MrsRose2018 · 02/05/2020 15:26

@Lilice my husbands office is the box room 🙊and I work downstairs in the living room

If you haven't already checked it out Mammas and Papas do some beautiful white furniture and it's really reasonably priced and good quality! We managed to get into one of their stores and have look/feel before COVID really kicked off!

Online4baby is also really good for well priced furniture!!

That's a beautiful room you've created there. Mine is half a washing room and paint storage atm and all the baby stuff is covered up so the cats don't get in it. I've decided not to buy a cot until later. I've got some shelves set up with some outfits hanging on a rail and the top shelf with toys and lower shelf with changing and bathing materials. It's cute. The moses basket is covered up as is a big box of clothes. I've got a clothes hanging rail I'll use at some point but I've not bought any hangers for it yet! If I could purchase some paint during the lockdown I'd be tempted to start painting in my final 2 week wait I'm in but that will have to wait!

itmusthavebeencoffee · 02/05/2020 15:42

I'm nowhere near having a baby but that room looks soooo cosy and peaceful! I love the colours and the way you've furnished it.

Hollyhobbi · 02/05/2020 15:45

Do ye not have baby in the room with ye until they are 12 months? Or in the case of my second dd mainly in the bed with us until she was nearly two as she was bf then then😊

Lilice · 02/05/2020 15:46

@MrsRose2018 ive bought the furniture on online4baby. I discovered this website just a month ago and it's now my favourite! Where did you get the nursing chair? It looks so comfy

NicNac100 · 02/05/2020 15:48

@MrsRose2018 oh we do have pretty much everything we need for now thankfully (I'm almost 37 weeks now!) so I'm happy to have second room as half a nursery and half a spare room for now as she'll be in with us for a bit anyway so we've plenty of time. There's a built in wardrobe in her room so her little clothes are hanging up already Grin and we managed to fit a tallboy in too for babygrows, socks, bibs, muslins etc. and over the door hanging things for nappies and wipes - so a bit of a squash but fine for now :) so sorry to hear you had a miscarriage before, wishing you all the very best with the rest of your pregnancy, your nursery is beautiful and any bubba would be thrilled to have it as their room!
