What name did you give your baby when you found out you were pregnant? E.g. Peanut

Just wondering really.
I remember finding out I was pregnant and had a 6 week scan and around that time I'd googled what the baby was like, what size it was etc and read it was the size of a lentil, so my baby was always called lentil. Even now at nearly 20 weeks I still call him lentil and so do my friends. Part of me is wondering whether I'll end up calling him that when he's born as it's stuck so much!

Peps. Short for a long name we would never have called an actual baby but enjoyed using during the pregnancy

After the 20 week scan DS was Mos Def, thanks to the sonographer who took once glance between the baby's legs and said emphatically "Most definitely a boy. Most definitely".

Dd was pig, after Bil declared she looked like a piglet on the first scan picture. Ds was peanut and dts were twump.

It's always been a 'thing' among my friends. Gives us the chance to feel closer by naming the baby before it arrives. That and not giving way any names we may be discussing. Made that mistake with fil and he then referred to dd by name for the rest of my pregnancy. Bloody good job sonography wasn't wrong as I think he'd have continued to call a boy by dd's very definitely girl name.

Ours is tadpole for a similar reason to the lentil!

Really disagree with naming properly before they're born - it isn't a done deal in my eyes until that baby's out, but nice to have something a bit more.personal. Don't have any objection to 'the baby' but do have an.irrational reaction to people dropping the 'the' I.e. 'when baby comes' so it helps minimise that!

For a while it was 'beef baby', ever since I read on one of those baby size tracking apps that he was the size of a beef tomato...it sorta stuck.

Now we know he's a boy, he is "(DH name) junior" but we've shortened it like in that episode of The Simpsons where Homer tells Bart he's going to call him 'Homer Junior'..."the kids can call you 'HoJu'"

So, he's currently 'DH name-Ju'

I've got a feeling it's going to stick...

Since 8 weeks we've been calling him the name we are going to call him when he's born. Lucky I guessed the sex correctly

Pickle. We didn't know what we were having until birth and I was having huge bonding issues so we wanted to make it feel a bit more real.

For the first month or so it was 'ball of cells' (I'm a Biology teacher!), now at 14+5 it's the baby or whatever vegetable my app is comparing it to this week. PIL call the baby 'chickpea' as that's the size it was when they found out.

Bruce. Even before we knew he was a boy. Was really hard to call him by his actual name though once he was born!

DD1 was named Thunderbird. This is because early on in my pregnancy, I had to stifle laughter in the hairdressers when the trainee told me that her mate had just had a baby called 'Chardonnay' and wasn't it lovely? I felt that naming my child wfter an alcoholic drink was the way to go.

The babies I miscarried were called Pip and Gary. DD2 had a name but it may well out me!

Mine's called 'little bean'. Though, at 33 weeks, it's a big bean now! We named it that after seeing an early scan when they said it was the size of a baked bean.

I don't plan on continuing calling it that, but as pp have said, it's nice to call it something.

My first DD started out as podge as my DH said I was getting a podge (ie tummy was expanding). When we found out it was a girl this changed to podgina.

In my current pregnancy he's known as pumpkin because he's due end of October. Can't bear to call them by their proper names until they're out it just feels weird iykwim!

Ours was sardine after the first scan ( as the clear spine made dh think of sardines ) went through a phase of sproglet but us now mostly squiglet as it squiggles so much.

I had an early scan at 7 weeks due to a couple of suspected issues and he just looked like a little chicken nugget at that point so we called him that until we thought of his name at 20 weeks!

Similar to ARV mine is called Beany because he looked like a bean on an early scan. I'm now 30 weeks and wonder if I should start using his real name to get used to it. At the moment it's difficult for me to think of him as anything other than Beany.
