Lighthearted!

DS 4, has a badge he calls “birdie friend.” I may post a photo later! It’s a badge with a bird on.

Birdie Friend seems to have the gift of the “sight!” “Birdie Friend says Bob and Rose are here mummy, they like to have tea with us. Bob and Rose are DH’s grandparents who died many years ago.

“Birdie Friend says the men who lived upstairs looked like you mummy when their faces burned off.” We used to live in a former military hospital and I had a sheet mash on my face! The ward upstairs had indeed been a burns/plastics ward!

“Mummy, Birdie Friend says the end is coming soon.”

😂😱😨

This level of imaginative play is quite normal in 4 year olds

Does he know the details? Creepy!

PlomBear Sat 18-Jan-20 10:48:46

I can’t remember mentioning the old hospital or grandparents but he listens to everything and soaks it all up! The end times thing is weird too! He says it all in a very deadpan way!

Birdie Friend needs to be taken out back, sprinkled with holy water, and set on fire. This is how horror films start, OP. One minute it's cute stories about Birdie Friend and the burned men upstairs, next thing you know the devil is setting up camp in your spare room and all the dolls in the house are springing to life.

Lol @Hoik
I want a 'like' button.

Birdie Friend is from a youth hostel in Wales DH stayed at when doing some military outdoors thing.

Apparently he only speaks Welsh. DS has started to say Bore Da. But then I did go to university in Aberystwyth so...

Keep garlic and a silver bullet in your bedside table just on case. Or am I mixing movies?

StealthPolarBear Sat 18-Jan-20 10:58:49

Ok that's freaky as hell!

Emmelina Sat 18-Jan-20 11:06:13

Can you accidentally leave “birdie friend” on a bus?

PlomBear Sat 18-Jan-20 11:06:42

I just asked if he wanted a snack, Birdie Friend apparently wants Black Forest gateau, don’t think we’ve ever had that. They are now in the cupboard under the stairs and I can hear DS giggling away and chatting to Birdie Friend. 🤷🏻‍♀️

He cries if I try to put Birdie Friend away and says Birdie Friend will be very cross mummy!

A badge?
Like one you pin on your coat? That’s easy to loose op.
No way would I be allowing birdie friend to freak me out in my own home.
You must have seen the movies and know how this goes.
You need a priest, holy water a crucifix and a hot ghost hunter!
Birdie friend would be fired out the window of my moving car miles away from home!

Everything else I could brush off. My DD tells me all the things that her little bear tells her and all the things he did when he was human before he was a bear. All of it contradicts each other, so I just agree. The thing that would worry me is the saying Birdie friend will be very cross if you put him away.

Birdie friend would be fired out the window of my moving car miles away from home!

I’ve a feeling birdie friend would simply reappear on the kitchen table the next day.
