My child has a badge that sees ghosts?

Lighthearted!

DS 4, has a badge he calls “birdie friend.” I may post a photo later! It’s a badge with a bird on.

Birdie Friend seems to have the gift of the “sight!” “Birdie Friend says Bob and Rose are here mummy, they like to have tea with us. Bob and Rose are DH’s grandparents who died many years ago.

“Birdie Friend says the men who lived upstairs looked like you mummy when their faces burned off.” We used to live in a former military hospital and I had a sheet mash on my face! The ward upstairs had indeed been a burns/plastics ward!

“Mummy, Birdie Friend says the end is coming soon.”

😂😱😨

Birdie Friend is from a youth hostel in Wales DH stayed at when doing some military outdoors thing. Apparently he only speaks Welsh.

So Birdie Friend has attached himself to your DH and ony DS can see and communicate with Birdie Friend? Any other details as to who Birdie Friend might be?

It's fascinating yet terrifying! Confused

NextdoorNeighbourIsATwat · 18/01/2020 15:00

Confused Ermagerd OP, you need to surround your house with a circle of salt, or plant some Rowan trees or something Shock

NextdoorNeighbourIsATwat · 18/01/2020 15:00

Ooh yes! Ask for more details as Shoes suggests!

MaisWeee · 18/01/2020 15:06

A little boy I know of (don't know him directly) was envisioning all sorts of things and was found to have a tumour on his brain.

I actually believe woo stuff (sceptically).

Luckystar777 · 18/01/2020 15:07

LOL

This is making me want to watch:

The Shining
The Sixth Sense
Children of the Corn

But also I don't like scary movies so maybe not!

messolini9 · 18/01/2020 15:10

He cries if I try to put Birdie Friend away and says Birdie Friend will be very cross mummy!

Listen to him very carefully Plom.
You don't want to go upsetting Birdie Friend ...

messolini9 · 18/01/2020 15:12

Birdie friend would be fired out the window of my moving car miles away from home!

@1happyhippie, are you INSANE?
What will OP do when she is woken at 3am one dark & stormy night, by Birdie Friend tapping furiously at her window?

AhoyMrBeaver · 18/01/2020 15:12

"Apparently he only speaks Welsh."

So presumably there's another badge that's bilingual that does the translation.

Casander · 18/01/2020 15:14

We have never mentioned burns or masks to him. When he talked about them I said “oh those poor people, they had sore faces didn’t they but they are all better now” he just looked at me like I was an idiot. “They are still here, silly mummy!”

That reminded me of this scene! ConfusedConfused

So we went to the RSPCA centre to look at guinea pigs. DS became quite distressed because BF was telling him about the sad lives of the animals. We tried to be jolly “oh but the animals are going to nice new homes, they are happy” but DS cried all the way home.

They didn’t have any guinea pigs but loads of rabbits.

Maybe he’s channeling the Loch Mess Monster.

Obviously, but it's good fun for those posters who like to play along and frighten themselves.

PlomBear · 18/01/2020 15:36

username108 - nice name btw.

Why would I make this up? Just because you don’t believe in the unexplained doesn’t mean that weird things don’t happen to other people.

When DS was little he used to tell us about his other life where he had been a grown-up, married with two children, etc. And he used to mention the old man who sat in the chair in his room and talked to him.
Once, he drew a drawing of an ornate building with people working on the roof and told us the names of the people. The names were the same as his great-grandad and great-uncle (we didn't talk about them so there was no reason for DS to know the names), and the building did look like one near where they had lived.
He grew out of it so I think you've only another 2 years of DS and his 'friends' unless the Messiah and the end comes first Wink

NemophilistRebel · 18/01/2020 15:44

As the welsh tourist housed have these badges , could you get a second ‘BF’ badge and swap them one day when he doesn’t know and see if he changes his reactions to it?

PlomBear · 18/01/2020 15:46

Although spirits can apparently attach themselves to objects, it does seem more likely that it’s DS who is seeing these things.

I completely believe you OP. Even if this specific thread was made up, it doesn't mean every think like this is made up. People who dismiss and laugh at the people who experience the unexplained, are either very close minded, and imo pretty rude, or they are too scared to think about the possibility of there being anything paranormal.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 18/01/2020 15:48

Children do get funny ideas. When my cousin’s daughter was little, she didn’t get the concept of a time before she was alive. If we mentioned anything that happened before she was born, she’d say ‘That must have been when I lived at Auntie Bet’s’. She never lived with her aunt - it was just a fiction she invented for herself because she couldn’t understand the idea that she hadn’t always been here.

NemophilistRebel · 18/01/2020 15:49

I wish my parents remembered the things I spoke about when I was young that seemed all too woo to believe at the time

StillCoughingandLaughing · 18/01/2020 15:49

That’s a really good idea.

simplekindoflife · 18/01/2020 15:53

That's so creepy!

I'd drive very far away, wrap a rock around the badge and throw it into the river.

But then I'd be scared of it coming back!! Shock

NeckPainChairSearch · 18/01/2020 16:07

He’s been saying the “messy” is coming and then it will be “the end”

Brexit?

Oliversmumsarmy · 18/01/2020 16:12

There are people who can “read” objects.

I wonder what they would say about BF
