To think that really pyjamas should be washed after every wear?

Not that I do it!
But they are worn next to the skin for 8 hours and I'd wash anything else worn like that..

What do you think?

MysweetAudrina Thu 31-Aug-17 20:59:39

I must have a smellier minge than most because mine would whiff if I wore them a 2nd night. Top would be fine but I usually just wear a vest top.

Booagain Thu 31-Aug-17 20:59:49

Pyjamas need washing?! Kidding. But I wash mine prob every week. Every wear seems excessive to me but depends how much you do at night ;) and how much you sweat I guess?

sweatylemon Thu 31-Aug-17 20:59:58

Now that didn't make much sense. I think you get the gist.

Want2beme Thu 31-Aug-17 21:01:18

Always wash mine after 1 wear. Also wash my clothes after 1 wear.

StumpyScot92 Thu 31-Aug-17 21:01:33

My partner puts his in the wash every second night. I put mine in every third or fourth because I don't actually wear them to sleep... I wear them to lounge after my evening shower but sleep in the buff as I can't sleep with stuff on most of the time 😂 so they're only usually on me for about two to three hours a night.

Towels every second or third use. Bedding every ten days. Give or take.

Wait till you get the menopause.....

Bedding - once a week
PJ's - once a week
Towels - when they get minging (or once a week)
Knickers - once a week ahhhh only kidding, once a day grin

I don't wash most clothes every time I wear them for 8 hours. Only underwear (for obvious reasons).

I can't imagine washing every t-shirt, pair of trousers, skirt, top, etc. every time you wore it.

Crumbs1 Thu 31-Aug-17 21:02:53

Underwear with nightwear is a completely new notion to me. The whole idea of nightwear is that it is loose and allows your bits and pieces to get an airing. Making love must be like getting in to Fort Knox.
Nightwear is underwear so needs washing daily.

Babymamamama Thu 31-Aug-17 21:03:30

I just wear clean knickers and vest in bed. And I wear fresh ones every night. Usually after an evening shower. I'd feel a bit ick wearing the same stuff over and over but I know many do. Each to their own. When I was a child my mum bathed us once a week (another story but part of the stately homes brigade) so I think as an adult I've gone the other way and over indulge in washing and fresh clothes.

BabychamSocialist Thu 31-Aug-17 21:03:34

Your washing machine uses around 100-150 litres every cycle. Having it on every day is an insane waste when there are people who don't have access to clean drinking water.

There are quite a few items of clothing I don't wash after every wear - jeans, some trousers, hoodies etc. If they smell OK they usually are. We probably do four washing loads a week, otherwise it's a waste.

blameitonthebipolar Thu 31-Aug-17 21:03:50

Every night here too for us all ( 4 of us )
Though to be fair the dc's have slept naked all summer so mainly just me. I wear underwear with pj's too, i know many don't but I always have.

Andcake Thu 31-Aug-17 21:04:53

How on earth do you fit all those pjs into a suitcase to go away!

No pants, 3 -5 days in pjs- morning showers- clearly mingling but I'm from a generation of a bath once a week! I shower daily now 😊

grin

not much difference between day or night, never really an issue. grin

I started to wear pants with nighties when my first child started climbing in my bed at night <sigh>

verystressedmum Thu 31-Aug-17 21:08:07

I used to be like this as I hate wearing 'used' pyjamas but now dc are late teens (well 2 of them) they do as they like I just wash what's been put in the basket. And I've got too much washing to wash mine every night.
I like a clean pair if I've had a shower at night but if I shower in the morning I don't bother as I'm not that clean when I get into my pyjamas at night.
But don't get me started on the dcs habit of using a towel once only after a shower then chucking it wet onto the floor unless they've got their period they can get at least 2 days from it!

I've finally worked out the laundry answer. Those washing pyjamas and bedding nightly and showering constantly are clearly sweating so much because they are fat or overheat their houses or both.

I am based in England. My own use of my washing machine has no impact whatsoever on people currently suffering from a drought. I needed to do a load pretty much everyday before I even had children, having them was never going to reduce my laundry!

coddiwomple Thu 31-Aug-17 21:10:15

no, ArgyMargy, we just have sex more.

Witsender Thu 31-Aug-17 21:10:36

I do a clothes wash every other day, PJs go in with the wash. I have 3 pairs, one for the wash, one to wear and one for if the 1st pair aren't dry by the time the 2nd go in the wash.

Towels tend to be boil washed weekly/every 10 days, same as bedding.

Frouby Thu 31-Aug-17 21:11:07

Pj bottoms ( worn with knickers to lounge around in and to slip on when I get up) every couple of days.

Nightie every day is a fresh one. I sweat like a mofo at night. Hence only wearing a nightie and not bottoms in bed.

Bedding once a week. Towels every couple of days.

Dd has her nightie on a couple of nights. Ds is a mucky pup so clean every day. Dp sleeps in boxers (clean ones each night afyer his shower).

Most adults smell of bed when they get up. I wouldnt want to wear something twice to sleep in.

Witsender Thu 31-Aug-17 21:11:57

But clothes wise the only ones automatically washed after each wear are pants, vests and socks. T-shirts normally do a couple of wear unless actually dirty, jeans etc 10 days or so.

How can your "environmental impact" be low if you have air conditioning in your house? confused

Aliveinwanderland Thu 31-Aug-17 21:14:36

I wash in every 2/3 days, or after one wear if I've got sweaty in the night.

DS's sleepsuits get 2 nights out of them, unless he gets his breakfast all over them!

Kardashianlove Thu 31-Aug-17 21:14:59

I put mine and DC in wash every morning, put clean ones on every night. Always have, didn't know people wore them again the next night-do you put them away in the drawer then out again?

What about clothes? When I take mine and DC clothes off they go straight in the washing basket, I can't imagine getting up in the morning and putting yesterday's outfit on or putting worn clothes away in the wardrobe.

Not criticising people who do this, just surprised.
