To think that really pyjamas should be washed after every wear?

Not that I do it!
But they are worn next to the skin for 8 hours and I'd wash anything else worn like that..

What do you think?

No not every wear

RonSwansonsMoustache · 31/08/2017 20:42

Washing after every wear doesn't mean washing everyday, though. I'm sure lots of people have 4-5 pairs of pyjamas (changing them everyday) and still do the same amount of laundry as the people who wear 1-2 pairs a week and wash them weekly.

They hardly take up much room in the wash and can just be chucked in with other loads that would be done anyway.

LetZygonsbeZygones · 31/08/2017 20:43

I wear pants so wash pjs every 3 days on average. Sheets weekly and towels every 3 days.

TroysMammy · 31/08/2017 20:44

I shower every morning but I only shower before bed only when I've changed the bedding.

shrunkenhead · 31/08/2017 20:46

Well if you shower prior to wearing them I'm sure you could get a couple of days out of them. I can understand the reasoning to washing after every wear but surely you can't get too mucky during 7/8 hours of inactivity, especially if you showered prior to donning them. Maybe a bit different if you wear those shortie/closer fitting knicker type bottoms - as basically that's underwear and you change that daily.

If our skin is good enough to wear on our muscles & bones 24/7 then what does our skin do to possibly make clothing minging after 8 hours contact? Meh. yabu.

CaptWentworth · 31/08/2017 20:48

I wash my skin every day...

Samsara123 · 31/08/2017 20:49

If people put pants on under their pajamas they could avoid the skids.

elQuintoConyo · 31/08/2017 20:50

I have 2 pairs of winter pyjamas. One i wear, one in the wash. They go a week between washes. I really couldn't give a fuck.

I cannot afford more pyjamas (yes even shitty Primark ones made on the cheap by underpaid Bangladeshis), cannot afford washing machine on too often, cannot afford to buy or run a tumble dryer, so things are dried outside.

Forgive me for not being middle class.

In the summer i sleep in pants or birthday suit, i wash sheets more often, they dry in 15 minutes in the sun (hot country).

Sweat like a MF if you're heading on 50.

elQuintoConyo · 31/08/2017 20:52

Samsara123 i wouldn't be surprised if people wore pyjamas under their pyjamas!

sidesplittinglol · 31/08/2017 20:52

Laurie out of curiosity, why would you see it necessary to wash your pj's everyday but you'd go weeks without washing your towels? This makes no sense to me what so ever.

theaveragewife · 31/08/2017 20:52

Sweat

CaoNiMartacus · 31/08/2017 20:53

No way!

I change bedding an pyjamas every Friday.

LaurieFairyCake · 31/08/2017 20:53

I concur with the sweating. I have to get up in the night and turn on the air conditioner as I'm pouring with sweat.

Also approaching 50 Hmm

TeachesOfPeaches · 31/08/2017 20:53

I was washing my toddler's nightwear after one night until I realised I don't even do that for myself. I do wash the vest top I sleep in after one wear but not the pj trousers.

abigailgabble · 31/08/2017 20:54

no. but I do think morning showerers are mingers. i go to bed clean every night so wear my pj bottoms for 3 or 4 nights. i do change my t-shirt every day as I am BF so inevitably end up with big wet milk patches Hmm otherwise i'd wear the same T for 2 nights.

trinity0097 · 31/08/2017 20:54

I don't wash jeans every day, so why would I wash pyjamas every day? I wear one set for about 3 or 4 nights, about the same amount of wears I get from trousers.

I do wear them with underwear, and I have a desk/office/school job so no 'dirt'

coddiwomple · 31/08/2017 20:54

I never go to bed without a shower, and wear pants with pj bottoms, so I wear mine for a couple of nights. You would change more often if you are unwell or very hot at night, wouldn't you?
I give my kids fresh pjs every night, even if they do have a bath every night.

I am more puzzled by women who wash their tops after one wear, but keep the same bras for several days. Each to their own, it just sounds odd. If your tshirt needs to be washed (which it does!) then surely so does your bra.

Oblomov17 · 31/08/2017 20:55

No. After every wear is unnecessary. Same with bed linen.

ujerneyson · 31/08/2017 20:57

2 nights ifvwearing pants, every day if not

SnowiestMountain · 31/08/2017 20:57

I wear pants and wear pyjamas for 2 nights I only wear everything else next to my skin once, I don't know why I have a different rule for pyjamas!

AssignedPerfectAtBirth · 31/08/2017 20:59

Who knew it was unethical to wash one's jammies daily? It's not as though they are the only item in the wash. I certainly do a mixed wash daily.

Mad responses here

sweatylemon · 31/08/2017 20:59

Change every day Every here.
I change my pants everyday. Of course PJ's need changing too

MysweetAudrina · 31/08/2017 20:59

I must have a smellier minge than most because mine would whiff if I wore them a 2nd night. Top would be fine but I usually just wear a vest top.
