To think that really pyjamas should be washed after every wear?

Not that I do it!
But they are worn next to the skin for 8 hours and I'd wash anything else worn like that..

What do you think?

I change them once lr twice a week.
I wear pants underneath though.

Spottylu · 31/08/2017 21:16

Why would you? You may have sweat a little but you haven't been digging around in the garden or absorbing road fumes. You aren't really dirty and whatever sweat will very quickly dry out.

Witsender · 31/08/2017 21:20

I put mine in my bed/under my pillow, like I did as a child. Grin

coddiwomple · 31/08/2017 21:21

DameDiazepam you are starting to scaring me!

TooSweetForSugar · 31/08/2017 21:21

Because if you have short style pyjamas they are in effect like pants

LaurieFairyCake · 31/08/2017 21:22

SuburbanRonda - I have one portable air conditioner that I put on for ten minutes when I wake pouring with sweat

When's the last time you flew? For me it's 15 years ago.

The point is that if we had our own carbon allowances or offsetting schemes mine would be low as I don't fly/change my car more than once every ten years/don't have biological children etc

A fresh nightie every day is pretty low down the scale of environmental impact - sure it could be lower - so could everyone's right?

ScarlettDarling · 31/08/2017 21:23

Witsender That's what I do too! Fold them up and tuck them under the duvet Grin

I wear mine for two nights usually, no pants underneath. Always shower before I put them on at night.

Cailleach666 · 31/08/2017 21:25

New pair every day here.

I don't wear knickers underneath and I do sweat in bed.

BabychamSocialist · 31/08/2017 21:26

coddiwomple True, but water is a finite and vulnerable resource. If we aren't careful, we will be in a very bad state indeed. I think too often people don't realise how lucky we are when they stick their washing machine on every day and waste so much water. We should all be looking to reduce our environmental footprint.

ragz134 · 31/08/2017 21:27

Every 3-4 days. Don't shower every day either (3-4 a week maybe) and wash bedding when I remember/it looks manky. I wasn't brought up with running water or electricity, which may explain my minger habits lol

BlueberryPuffin · 31/08/2017 21:28

I don't count pyjamas as underwear since I rarely sweat in bed (if I was that hot, I wouldn't be wearing my pyjamas) and I also don't go to the toilet 8 times a night like I do during the day.

NikiBabe · 31/08/2017 21:30

Underwear with nightwear is a completely new notion to me. The whole idea of nightwear is that it is loose and allows your bits and pieces to get an airing.

Explain how they get an airing under a duvet?

MoonPower · 31/08/2017 21:33

Lol @ the poo crumbs brigade 🤣
I wash myself every night so my bum is clean - then I wear my pjs/ nightie for a few nights.

I could NEVER wear pants to bed! My bits need airing 😁

Cailleach666 · 31/08/2017 21:34

babycham water is a finite and vulnerable resource

Yes, but only in some areas. This summer two local reservoirs have been performing regular run offs as the levels are too high.
One of the wettest summers on record here, and reservoirs will only need more excess run off as winter comes.

Probably why we have no water meters here.

cardibach · 31/08/2017 21:34

coddi I needed to do a load pretty much everyday before I even had children What the fuck are you washing? A load a day? How many layers do you wear?

fullofhope03 · 31/08/2017 21:38

Nah - If I washed my pj's nightly I'd have to iron them - as if Grin

Cailleach666 · 31/08/2017 21:40

I do 10 loads a week.

A lot is on a 15 minute cold wash cycle and line dried all year round.

mirialis · 31/08/2017 21:40

Sleep in fresh pair of knickers and vest top each night - add them to the weekly wash and they take up very little room. But I'm probably terrible for the environment because I have a very quick shower every night before bed even though I will have showered in the morning. Sleep so much better getting into bed having washed the day off me, and couldn't have a shower and then put used underwear on.

fullofhope03 · 31/08/2017 21:42

PS - Does anyone remember pajama cases? I loved mine!

skyzumarubble · 31/08/2017 21:43

I had a pj case - it was a panda! I loved it.

Henrythehoover · 31/08/2017 21:43

I wash mine when they start to wiff. I shower every morning so not a problem really

fullofhope03 · 31/08/2017 21:44

A million year ago Grin

pictish · 31/08/2017 21:45

Is this going to degenerate into one of those threads about competitive cleanliness. You know the sort of thing....
"I put pyjamas in the wash if I brush past them on the washing line and anything less makes you a filthy scut."
I bet it does.

balsamicbarbara · 31/08/2017 21:47

No poo crumbs because they shouldn't even be there but there is definitely a faint wiff of week after a week or two of wear.
