Why don't we play as UK in the World Cup? Why do we get 4 teams when everyone else gets just the one? It would bring an end to anyone but England sentiment.

It's a competitors' medal. It's what you get for taking part.

Not good enough to replace those that are already in the English team though. NI and Wales didn’t qualify, and I think we all know that Scotland will crash and burn. A UK team would be weaker because there would be pressure to have footballers selected from all four countries, which wouldn’t necessarily mean a stronger team.

I really have done this stuff, and I am not remotely bothered about these insults. I am an Olympian too, but that's a whole other story.

Not everything's measured against England, despite what you think, and I didn't say they were good enough to replace any English players in the first place. I merely said they had some good players, and most of those play at the highest level.

You must be a bloke to have competed in cycling in the 1978 Commonwealth Games. It is very clear from the wiki page for Commonwealth cycling. There's nothing to be ashamed of in admitting you are a man.

I saw Geoff Capes during filming of the TV programme Superstars when I was about 12. He was disappointing.

@Sardaukar The Scottish team has very few players who have competed in the later stages of the Champions league or who play for top Prem league clubs. Quite a few are playing in Italy but Scottish clubs routinely get nowhere in Europe. The nations should remain separate for the World Cup. It means a lot to them.

Except in the Olympic Games.
