The Cleaner in work is pouring full fat milk into the low fat milk.

I work in an office of a factory. We get 8 litres of full fat milk a day delivered . I asked around to see if I changed 1 of the bottles to low fat milk if anyone one would mind. They all said ok so I was given permission by the accountant to change it. The cleaner seen the low fat milk in the fridge and freaked out . interrogating everyone to find out who changed. she demanded I change it back even though i don't answer to her. She is feer mongering anyone who drinks saying ' I can't believe your drinking' 'that's the last bottle of that you will see' . Hiding in the back of the fridge and refuses to put it inth same section as the other milk.. But the worst of it happened this morning when i realised she poured over half a litre of full fat milk into the carton of low fat milk. What the hell do i do in this situation because i know if i go to management they will laugh at its ridiculousness and wont take it seriously. I don't like confrontation so i dont know how to best approach.

Imagine having the time to waste on pointless bollocks like this. If I wasn't happy with full fat I'd just bring my own and forget about it

I think it actually makes more sense to have the milk people want.

I suspect that for the cleaner, it's yet one more thing that she needs to remember to do, maybe it wasn't in the job description, and noone asked/told her about it. Maybe she has reached her limit and is passive-aggressively rebelling.

What is the one more things that the cleaner needs to remember to do? It's just a bottle of milk in the fridge that requires no input from her. Surely she is making more work for herself by pouring full fat milk into the skimmed milk bottle.

Is she a literal cow?

I mean, she'd be a shit cleaner, what with all the hooves and all, that's no way to wield a duster, BUT it would explain how deeply hurt she is that her full fat product isn't good enough for you.

I think you should think of her feelings.

This made me laugh so much!

If it was watered down to have half the fat, it would have to be 50/50 milk and water.
Skimmed means just that - the fat is skimmed off the top.
Carbs are not the enemy and fat is not very good for you so anyone who thinks full fat milk is better "because it's lower carb" is a) daft because carbs are not the enemy and b) not very good at sums - full fat milk is 4.7% carbs and skimmed is 5%.

Skimmed milk is the stuff farmers used to feed to the pigs - it's the stuff left after you take out the cream to make cheese or butter and then it's skimmed again. Basically white-coloured water of little nutritional value.

If that's the case what is the benefit of feeding it to pigs
Surely whole milk would fatten them up a bit more.

I can certainly taste the difference between skimmed milk and water.

Come on. We NEED to know why she's so crazy. What the hell is her problem? Why does are even care? It's so far from normal behaviour that I can't fathom that she'd be normal in any other capacity.

DecafDodger · 18/10/2024 08:28

Why would OP need to 'just bring her own milk'? Milk she wants is available, provided by the company.

Gingernan · 18/10/2024 11:58

Get your own and write your name on it. I'm an office cleaner and we leave well alone , but we have to throw any milk that reaches the sell by date which often means pints and pints. Very wasteful. We have semi skimmed, office staff bring in any plant milk etc.

If the cleaner is required to throw away any milk that reaches the sell by date, why would this only apply to OP's skimmed milk and not the full-fat milk that the others are drinking? Also, if this was the issue, I'm sure OP would agree to pour away her milk once it has passed the sell by/use by date. The decanting of the full fat milk into the skimmed milk container makes no sense at all in this scenario.

DecafDodger · 18/10/2024 12:27

Get your own

Again, why, if office already provides it?

Natural fats aren't the enemy, we need some fats in our diet. Very odd to say that.

Skimmed and semi skimmed milk is a con. It worked very well. Whole milk is better for you nutritionally on its own than the marketed swizz with shit added to it.

Taste however is different story. We all have our own tastes.

Why would the management complain if you went to them? This is a very serious thing. No one should be allowed to interfere with food or drink.

I would bring my own, because you cannot be sure that is all she put in the other bottle. From now on, you should only eat and drink what you bring in with you, whether you report the matter or not.

There certainly is a difference. Semi skimmed milk is slightly more palatable.

ThistleTits · 18/10/2024 18:35

@AwayWithTheFairiesX I'd be adding almond milk to the fridge to really freak her out.

theemptinessmachine · 18/10/2024 18:45

Madness 😂

Packetofcrispsplease · 18/10/2024 19:17

I feel a bit sick if I have full fat milk 🥛,I’m not sure why 🤔 I make my coffees at home with skim milk and ask for the same in coffee shops.
It froths up really well in my little electric milk frother jug thing .
For adding to cereal and making porridge etc I use oat milk or sometimes rice milk , also happy to have an ice coffee with oat milk
I take tea black .
The cleaning lady sounds bonkers

Milk fat allergy is more frequent in newborns and children, but it can occur at any age

Tell her it for medical reasons and her actions could make someone really poorly

I don't know why she is having such a reaction to having 1 btl of different milk in the fridge (no pun intended)

And why fill the bottle back up with full fat milk - does she normally top up the bottles?

Milk fat allergy?? Do you mean milk protein allergy? I've never e countered milk fat allergy.

Also, the difference between semi-skimmed and full fat is less than 2%. It's not worth making such a fuss about.

Deeperthantheocean · 18/10/2024 20:41

Very strange behaviour, part of her duties to put it into the fridge, so don't see the issue. Also unusual that all full fat milk, usually a choice. Just water your own down or have it as it is? As a coffee drinker I don't mind many any form but I know tea drinkers don't tend to like full. X

It went in with everything else they were fed. I was a little cavalier, however, it has little nutritional value. You are much better with whole milk - though homogenization has ruined the taste, alas.

I’d call the FBI, this is some serious stuff.

Tide has turned since the semi skimmed thing turned out to be lies. There's less carbs in full fat and better for us overall I think.

British Heart Foundation recommends semi-skimmed milk as a more healthy option than full fat esp for those who need to control cholesterol levels.

Caveat: you will find scientific opinions that are diametrically opposed to each other (see research on foods that are good for you and bad for you eg red wine, different types of milks, citrus fruits, chocolate).

CaribouCarafe · 19/10/2024 15:49

I'm petty enough that if she continued doing this I'd put a whole bunch of decoy milks in the fridge with stupid labels on them such as 'Arsenic', 'Cyanide', 'Uranium' etc. and let her go nuts with it. Honestly, she sounds either controlling or mentally unwell and in either case shouldn't be left to meddle with people's food.

I bought full cream Jersey milk for my 3 kids. They got through 5 pints a day when it was pints, sometimes 7. They were never fat, never had difficulties with weight and were fit and well.

They were very active kids.
