@Gally123 @deewu Thanks for the information. Also perhaps with some Trusts adopting in-house VR, AI etc there is less being outsourced??? Back to the drawing board then.

It's probably still very quiet as the Jr doctors are still on strike until tomorrow 7am hence multiple clinic cancellations.

Gally123 · 08/01/2024 14:44

@Billybea I think the Jr docs strike is in England and does not affect Tpro hospitals in Ireland. At least it hasn't done previously.

Didn't quite turn out how it was meant to & won't change so again confusion ---

Then -- (clinician named addressee as Mr ?? Who was patient ???!!!)

Whitestar55 · 08/01/2024 16:24

If dictator says 'letter to patient' and has dictated the patient's name in the Re: section, I would type the patient's name (Mr/Mrs Whatever) as the addressee. Perhaps we could type both 'Letter to patient Mr/Mrs Whatever' we would get more towards the line count 😂with things being desperate pay wise now 'n' all!

OP posts:
cathyk2002 · 08/01/2024 17:01

That's what I was doing before 1st feedback on 3rd, so omitted it as was dictated dear Mr/Mrs ** and then got 2nd feedback on 8th - just don't know now what I'm supposed to do !!!!!

Guess if I keep getting feedback then I'll be out as monitoring e-mail said, as I only do one speciality which I've done in NHS for 20 years !!! 🙄

Pinksville · 08/01/2024 17:33

😂😂😂I've had some comical feedback recently feedback to your feedback - try making f*%king sense before sending me your snide comments !!!!! I think one of those proofreading fools believes I'm of school age !!!!!!!

Pinksville · 08/01/2024 17:34
  • and if you pay shit money you get shit work from now on
Gally123 · 08/01/2024 20:18

@Whitestar55 @cathyk2002 I have never typed "letter to patient" but always written the name of the patient as dictated, and never been pulled up on it (so far). The same as if the GP (or whoever) is named I typed Dr Smith etc and not "letter to GP."

Cherryblossom114 · 08/01/2024 20:19

Funny now this "Letter to " seems to be an issue. I had feedback the other day to not type just GP but Letter to GP, I have been doing this for years. There was also something about Yours faithfully which I hastily deleted so cant remember in ehat context I was told I should use it.

For TPro I checked on their website but it seems they are no recruiting. DICT8 is becoming a pain in the orifices

cathyk2002 · 09/01/2024 08:22

I have e-mailed this morning to ask for clarification on 'Letter to' feedback I got, which is contradictory, so I'll update when I know anything

Gally123 · 09/01/2024 08:25

@Cherryblossom114 you use "yours faithfully" if the letter has no named recipient, ie "Dear Sir/Madam" usually for those starting "To whom it may concern."

Also back to the "letter to patient" issue - on my mouse mat they sent out it says "GP or Specialist's name" so I was take that to mean "or patient's name"

Whitestar55 · 09/01/2024 08:47

There is the rare circumstance when they dictate that the 'letter is to the patient' but have not actually dictated the patient's name, so our only choice is to type 'letter to patient'.

@Cherryblossom114 I think I would take the opportunity to type 'Letter to GP' rather than just 'GP' as its more characters. What are the chances we would get feedback saying not to do that though!

Seems to me there are new proofreaders out there trying to prove their worth !!! My feedback last week was just rude (tempted to react but just couldn't be bothered) as before, what is the point of feedback when you are not provided with the task to listen to again, for all we know they could be wrong 🤔and that's happened a lot with my feedback !!!!!

Cherryblossom114 · 09/01/2024 22:05

Remember now it was a Dear Colleagues and I was reprimanded for not using yours faithfully

Without a doubt..Letter to GP they want, Letter to GP they'll gladly get as you say ..more characters... more prizes.. until they find out we are benefitting then the feedback will come to not do that

Melissa890 · 10/01/2024 00:14

Hi there, I came across this thread recently and would be grateful to know any Transcription company recruiting. I have applied to Accuro but haven't heard back. I have at least 10 years of medical typist experience. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Doglover61 · 10/01/2024 09:56

@Melissa890

Hi Melissa, I have tried Outsec and TPro and heard nothing from either of them.

Pinksville · 10/01/2024 10:27

Same for me @Doglover61 tried them at the end of last year.

I had no idea that Letter to GP was accepted by DICT8 ! Will certainly be doing this one from now on 😃

Deniserew · 10/01/2024 13:21

I got pulled up for typing letter to GP when it wasn't dictated, even though it was quite obvious it was to the GP. I was told to put Dear Dr if nothing dictated. You can't win

Whitestar55 · 10/01/2024 13:48

If you can find something else rather than transcription do it, and run a mile quickly from transcription work, it's not worth the toll on your health and finances!!

Its seems thinking outside of the box is not an option with DICT8 and their conflicting proofreaders

Gally123 · 12/01/2024 10:36

Well to add to the "letter to GP" debate - now with Tpro we have just been told with my hospital not to type "letter to GP" but to type the name if dictated (which I did obviously) however now we have to also include the full address including post code whether dictated or not. This is for GPs and other hospitals and including doctors, nurses etc in the same hospital. So every letter have to stop and google the full address. Try googling a GP in Dublin called "Dr Smith" etc....
