Hello! I'm a regular, but I've name changed.

Fragrantfancies2010 · 29/12/2011 19:54

So, to confirm I'm a regular.
River of Sweetcorn
Poo Cube
Shitting Elf, and..
..My favourite MN lines, "..No, I'm Angela Henandez" and "Oh my God, your minge!" Grin

I've had to name change because I've just placed an ad in the classified section. Apologies if its not good etiquette to broadcast the fact I've placed an ad, but I'm really excited and I have paid Grin

So if you'd be so kind as to spare a minute and have a little nosey at the site. It's advertising our new line of incense. Perhaps come back and tell me what you think?

All the writing on the website, including the fragrance descriptions were done by me. I've been here long enough to know how some of you are sticklers for correct grammar and perfect English, so if you have any constructive criticism I'd love to hear it. I'm not ashamed to be the first to put my hand up and admit I'm not the most eloquent of writers, and I'm not in the least bit academic, unlike some of you lot. ( it's the main reason why I stay away from the heavy discussions, as I struggle to to write in words, what I have in my head!) but we couldn't afford to get a professional to do the job, so it fell to me to do it instead. So please be gentle!

I hope that our products really catch your eye. Our aim is to make our products as fresh and as contemporary as we can, and really be different to other makers of incense.

The website has a link to my DH's eBay page (SAYSELL), but I have one myself, not linked on the website. He already said that any money made through my page, (fragrantfancies2010) I keep. Any money he makes I also keep, it'll be lovely if you bear that in mind, and order from my page, please please please? Thanks :)

Lastly, DH's eBay page is very basic. Please don't feel suspicious over it. It will get all spruced up and looking lovely as soon as he can work with the same designer who worked on the website, which will be as soon as is possible. It still works fine, and he's already sold incense to customers since placing his listing a couple of days ago. Mine is more put together though.

So tell me what you think, it'd be interesting to hear what you have to say.
Thank you!

(sorry again if I shouldn't have started this thread, but I'm just really excited to have the website up and running at last. If it causes too many problems, I'll have this thread removed I promise)

Thanks again.

is there supposed to be a link to something?

ChippingInLovesChristmasLights · 29/12/2011 19:57

I can't see why you shouldn't have started the thread Confused but then I don't own MN Grin

I'll go and have a look now :)

Fragrantfancies2010 · 29/12/2011 20:01

Oh sorry! I started the thread to let others know I had placed an ad, but I don't know why I didn't just link to the website. Blush

I don't even know where the CLassified Ads are.

LineRunner · 29/12/2011 20:03

You have a lot to learn about self-promotion. Grin

Fragrantfancies2010 · 29/12/2011 20:03

Chipping.... To advertise something on here to sell, one must pay for the privilege!

Fragrantfancies2010 · 29/12/2011 20:03

Ahem...clearly!

You need a proper returns policy on eBay you dont have one, you only say returns accepted, if you dont state it properly then buyers can have up to 3 months to say they want to return an item.

You need to adhere to the distance selling regulations.

Oh and website looks good.

dearprudence · 29/12/2011 20:05

I'm looking at your site in IE7 and the headings in the top navigation bar are invisible until I roll over them - I just see a white bar.

molepomandmistletoe · 29/12/2011 20:07

Oooohh..bookmarked for future use.

Fragrantfancies2010 · 29/12/2011 20:09

Oh thanks Fabby. I'll work on the returns policy as soon as possible.
Do you mean like...
If for any reason you are not entirely satisfied with your item, then you can return your item within 2 weeks of receiving item, stating why you didn't like it, for a refund....

Or to that effect?..
Told you I'm not very eloquent Blush

Sorry dear prudence, I not sure I understand what you mean.

Is Paradisaic even a word???

Fragrantfancies2010 · 29/12/2011 20:18

It must be. Tis in the dictionary.

BobblyGussets · 29/12/2011 20:23

Is it a multipac of all the different scents so we can try them all? If so, I want one.

Mspontipine · 29/12/2011 20:24

Yes prudence I agree white bar 2nd one down after main title bar looks like it doesn't have anything in it. It wasn't till I looked at it again after your comment that realised it had navigation boxes in it. You can see nothing in it unless you hover over it.

Website looks lovely though Xmas Grin

CurlyCasper · 29/12/2011 20:24

Please get rid of the commas in the sentence under "what we do" and ditch the massive overuse of ellipsis "..." You don't need them at all in the Retailers bit on the home page.

Also, I like to know a little bit about the people behind a site. Even just a first name and where the business is based. It's all a bit anonymous at the moment.

I like the products page design.

Good luck with it all.

Mspontipine · 29/12/2011 20:31

There does appear to be a few, rogue, commas

namechangerbat · 29/12/2011 20:33

I just bought some

lborolass · 29/12/2011 20:35

I don't use incense but your site and prices would make me want try some.

I'd suggest you arrange ical order the retailers in alphabetical order of town to make it easier to search and you have way too many commas in the About Us section.

lborolass · 29/12/2011 20:36

hehe, lots of cross posts about the commas while I was looking at the website Smile

Fragrantfancies2010 · 29/12/2011 20:42

Thanks curly Casper, all of these suggestions we will save up, and when the time comes we will ask the web designer to update the site, according to the advice, as he has control over it, not DH or me. We aren't very computer tech!

Bobbly, no, we don't do multipacks, but I've just mentioned it to DH, and he said it's a good idea, and something he'll try in the future.

Sorry about the comers. Blush

PosieParker · 29/12/2011 20:56
