Hello! I'm a regular, but I've name changed.

Fragrantfancies2010 · 29/12/2011 19:54

So, to confirm I'm a regular.
River of Sweetcorn
Poo Cube
Shitting Elf, and..
..My favourite MN lines, "..No, I'm Angela Henandez" and "Oh my God, your minge!" Grin

I've had to name change because I've just placed an ad in the classified section. Apologies if its not good etiquette to broadcast the fact I've placed an ad, but I'm really excited and I have paid Grin

So if you'd be so kind as to spare a minute and have a little nosey at the site. It's advertising our new line of incense. Perhaps come back and tell me what you think?

All the writing on the website, including the fragrance descriptions were done by me. I've been here long enough to know how some of you are sticklers for correct grammar and perfect English, so if you have any constructive criticism I'd love to hear it. I'm not ashamed to be the first to put my hand up and admit I'm not the most eloquent of writers, and I'm not in the least bit academic, unlike some of you lot. ( it's the main reason why I stay away from the heavy discussions, as I struggle to to write in words, what I have in my head!) but we couldn't afford to get a professional to do the job, so it fell to me to do it instead. So please be gentle!

I hope that our products really catch your eye. Our aim is to make our products as fresh and as contemporary as we can, and really be different to other makers of incense.

The website has a link to my DH's eBay page (SAYSELL), but I have one myself, not linked on the website. He already said that any money made through my page, (fragrantfancies2010) I keep. Any money he makes I also keep, it'll be lovely if you bear that in mind, and order from my page, please please please? Thanks :)

Lastly, DH's eBay page is very basic. Please don't feel suspicious over it. It will get all spruced up and looking lovely as soon as he can work with the same designer who worked on the website, which will be as soon as is possible. It still works fine, and he's already sold incense to customers since placing his listing a couple of days ago. Mine is more put together though.

So tell me what you think, it'd be interesting to hear what you have to say.
Thank you!

(sorry again if I shouldn't have started this thread, but I'm just really excited to have the website up and running at last. If it causes too many problems, I'll have this thread removed I promise)

Thanks again.

mole I'm after a cinnnamony spicey one too so await the response.
Something liked mulled wine would be perfect!

molepomandmistletoe · 01/01/2012 16:02

Ooooh, mulled wine scents, Now you're talking.

Fragrantfancies2010 · 01/01/2012 17:10

Shufflebum, molepo. I'd recommend to you Black Stone and Duplicate firstly, then would consider Decipher Noir and Egyptian Musk as second choices.

Black Stone is one of my personnal favourites. It's categorised as woody/spicy and is so warm and inviting. To explain it (and I pre aplogise if I'm going to sound a twat!), it's essentially traditional in character, but rather than make you feel like your in a sheesha lounge in a far eastern desert, the orange flower keeps it familiar, and the oriental florals sweetens it up a little, but not too much, as the base keeps Black Stone dry and woody overall.
It's really really nice. (nice to my own preference, of course).

Duplicate again I like, ( I tend to lean towards the spicier and drier incense myself) and it's really just a full on, deeply layered spicy warm scent. It has Cinnamon listed as one of the ingredients. Perfect to be used around this time of season I think

Decipher Noir is really nice, and always reminds me of an expensive mans cologne, and is also categorised as spicy.

Molepo - Egyptian Musk is our number one selling incense. It is a subtle fragrance, not overpowering, and very pleasant all the same. I suppose it's a number one because the scent is distinctive, but appeals to everyone. I suppose you can only try it.

OP posts:
molepomandmistletoe · 01/01/2012 17:37

Thanks for that, I've made a note of those one and will order them once I've tried the ones I've ordered from you today.

shufflebum · 02/01/2012 20:34

thanks I will look at ordering duplicate.

TracyK · 03/01/2012 13:10

I like the sound of the one that smells like Issey Miyake - I like light scents.

I'm surprised no-one has commented on the company name - its not very.... well incensey?

Fragrantfancies2010 · 03/01/2012 20:39

No worries Shufflebum, Molepo. As I say to anyone who asks me "which ones do you like?", what I always say is what i think are the nicest, you may find to be 'orrible. Different tastes, an' all that. But it's those ones I have mentioned that have that spicy, warm cinnamon smell that you said you like, so hopefully they'll smell pleasant to you.

TracyK. The Japanese Water is gorgeous! It's a fragrance that's been in the top 10 sellers pretty much since we started using it for the sticks. It's really fresh and to the point of almost crisp, surprising really that its like that considering the fragrance is coming from a burning stick. If you like light and fresh scents, I'd say to try Horizon. Every time I smell it, and likewise the Japanese Water, it makes my mouth water! I'd also advise Apple Cultivar, which is similar I suppose to D&G Light Blue, if you've ever smelt it, and is a typical light and summery fragrance.

With regards to the business name we were going to go down the whole route of basing our name around the word 'fragrant' or 'scents', because it of course it made sense to. But DH just wasn't really happy with the names we came up with. Then we got thinking that centring our business name around the words fragrant and scents etc is limiting, and that if in the future we were to sell products that weren't fragrance based in any way it would be confusing. So for example, imagine we've been in business selling incense for 10 years, and our company was called Crescent Perfumes. We then decide to branch out and sell let's say bamboo furniture. It would be a bit Hmm you know? I think he got thinking about companies like B&Q, Sainsburys, The Co-op, Tescos. They are companies that sell all manner of things, but in the meantime their names don't restrict what they sell.

The name Saysell is actually DH surname. It's fairly unusual, it's personnel to us, it's not restrictive and hopefully once hearing it, is quite memorable.

As it happens, we don't only sell incense. We do sell other products as well, but for the meantime we are concentrating our efforts into the sticks.

BTW, to those who have bought incense, we've put some extra samples in with your orders :). Some have an extra pack of incense, others have a small bottle of perfumed oil. The oil is safe to use on the body, (we have allergen lists for the oils) and contains no alcohol. The oil is 100% uncut, so will last on the skin at lot longer than most perfumes. As well as being safe to use on the body, it can also be used on an oil burner. A few drops or so in some warm water placed over a tea light.

Again, if you'd be so kind as to post your thoughts on your items, wether it be the oil or the sticks, id be really grateful. It can be good or bad reviews. :) At least then it may help others choose a fragrance if they are unsure. After Namechangerbat approved the Red Thirst we've sold a few more since!
Thank you Namechangerbat! Grin

I hope you'll like your choices.

molepomandmistletoe · 03/01/2012 20:55

Ooooh, thank you, I ordered 3 lots yesterday or the day before.

TracyK · 03/01/2012 21:35

What's red thirst like?
I can't really take heavy or sweet fragrances, think I'll order the ones you've mentioned being light.

Fragrantfancies2010 · 03/01/2012 22:50

Extremely unusual.
It's zingy. Yet. It's dry. It's so peculiar!

Here's the description:
Red Thirst is a fragrance that possesses a whopping burst of distinctiveness and truly, there is nothing else like it. Pronounced with zingy limes, sweet bergamot , teakwood, neroli, rose, apple and patchouli, and base notes of vanilla, musk and labdanum. Red Thirst is a barrage of fragrant contradictions. Dry yet lively, intriguingly sour, despite its warmth, Red Thirst is both addictive and captivating, and is like nothing you will have experienced.

You can only try it.

Light/dry incense:
Japanese Water
Horizon
Egyptian Musk
Apple Cultivar
Red Thirst

namechanger if you still haven't got a stand to burn your incense in, just get a normal glass or beaker, not plastic obviously and fill it with flour. Light your incense stick and then stand it in the middle if the glass, pushing the non incense stick bit ad far as you can, the ash collects on the glass. Its what my gran used to do Smile and it works!

Fragrantfancies2010 · 03/01/2012 23:50

I think it was Pippilongbottom who hasn't got a holder, not Namechangerbat, Eclair.

Which reminds me Pippi - I wasn't sure on your reference to Afflecks Palace so I googled it. It has its own website which I showed to DH and he said the next time he goes to Manchester he'll drop a few samples off. Perhaps the pagan/new age shop might be interested. Exciting! So thank you for your reference. Thanks

PippiLongBottom · 04/01/2012 00:06

Afflecks Palace is like nowhere you've ever been before. It is trying to rebrand itself now to the 30 something's but as far as I know it's still the place for emo kids and has an overriding smell of incense (but the usual kind). My only experience of incense is from Afflecks and to mask the smell of fags/weed so I can't wait to receive and smell your modern incarnation. I will certainly use the glass full of flour tip thank you poster (that I can't see back on my iPhone) Grin

Fragrantfancies2010 · 04/01/2012 00:07

Sorry! forgot to say Thank you for the tip Eclair Blush how very rude!

It almost reminded me of Camden Market when I looked through the photos Pippi. I love those little weird 'n' wonderful shops.

OP posts:
PippiLongBottom · 04/01/2012 00:29

I don't go there these days. They'd roll their eyes. Maybe TSC does? With her being a professional manc. I reckon Afflecks is grimier than Camden Market, probably cheaper too.

TSC, the sticks are £1.49 per packet so worth a gamble even for us hard up northerners.

Fragrantfancies2010 · 05/01/2012 13:30

I'm hoping some of your orders should have delivered by now.

Tell me what you think of your chosen smells, and the ramdon samples.

OP posts:
PippiLongBottom · 05/01/2012 15:59

Thank you for my extra packet and the roll on thingy- is that for the body, I couldn't tell with the red 'sample' over the top?

My jury is out at the moment. They are very heady and I am not used to that at all so maybe burning it next to me was a bad idea, I feel a bit sick TBH.

I am burning another one in the kitchen to see if the distance helps. I prefer the smell of the Apple to the Red one so far, but they still smell of teenage weed smokers bedrooms. Wink

molepom · 06/01/2012 14:45

The roll on thingy can be used as a perfume or as a oil for an oil burner!

Thank you so much for my sticks, the free smaple is absolutly gorgeous. I have it lit now.

Your description of the product is spot on for Mirgae, it's not as sweet as you would expect either which is an added bonus for me. I will let you know what I think of the other 3 later tonight when I burn another one.

Thank again.

Fragrantfancies2010 · 06/01/2012 16:49

Hello again.

I couldn't get back on last night as I had a huge batch of sticks to do.

Pippi - yes indeed they are very strong. If you look at the label they are described as being high strength, and if you are particularly sensitive to strong smells then I wouldnt advise to have them burning next to you or in a small sized room, as you've probably found out for yourself!

DH always says that the best way to appreciate the fragrance coming from the stick is to have the stick burning in a room your not in, then once the stick has burned, come back into the room. Then all that is left is the scent, as opposed to the scent and the smoke that's given off during burning. That's his opinion anyway. I don't mind either way, and usually have a few going off at the same time in the room with me when he's away at work. Grin

Sorry the particular fragrance isn't to your liking. Its pure preference isn't it?

Which one did you buy?

The oil in the bottle can be used on the body as you would any perfume, which is why the bottle has a rollerball applicator, so just apply it on yourself where you fancy, and the oil also doubles up as a room fragrance to be used in an oil burner.

Thinking about it, perhaps using the oil in the oil burner would be better for you as the scent won't come to you with that same impact as it does from the sticks. At least there'll be no smoke from the burning punk. Worth a thought for the future.

Red Thirst,

OMG. Rich, warm and just makes you feel cosy. The kids love this one.

Fragrantfancies2010 · 06/01/2012 17:08

Hello Molepo. We posted pretty much at the same time.

Thank you kindly for the compliments! Grin

Did you notice the Tabacco in the Mirage? Every time I take a quick whiff of the incense pack I can't help but be reminded of a new pack of Silk Cut especially the foil bit around the inside of the box. Sounds ridiculous doesn't it!

Fragrantfancies2010 · 06/01/2012 17:10

PippiLongBottom · 06/01/2012 17:16

I'd like to try another scent though before I give upon them altogether Sad.What would be the lightest/freshest one and I'll buy one of those packets.

Thanks
