Just devastating. DrLouiseJMoody’s wife has died very suddenly and out of the blue. There are no words really, we send so much love to her, their families and all who love and miss her. Her thread is here… Bless her, just so shocking and dreadful for her loved ones, we keep them in our thoughts..

We are so glad DrLouiseJMoody accepted our offer of a Woolly Hug. We want to make it a real tribute and celebration of their lives filled with love. Will you join us?

We shall need crocheters, knitters and donors. If you would like to donate wool or funds, we can match you up. If you would like to join in but need donated wool, we can help there too. Please message with your offer of help.

We have some wonderful ideas for personalisations from Louise we would really like help with…
Initials please -
J (her, obviously),
L (me),
S (Scrabble, our Border Terrier),
M (Matilda, our Staffordshire Bull Terrier),
D (Dexter, for our deceased pygmy hedgehog!).

She was a huge Star Wars fan (the plaque we are getting where part of her ashes will be interred is Star Wars themed in black and gold!). So really as much as possible please

We are wondering if it would be nice to try and create scrabble tiles for the initials? if anyone would like to try.

Looking at colours for Louise...

Main colours please to be blues, silvers, purples (not too pale please)
Then for embellishes and accents, but not whole squares…
Black, gold,
Red (one of these two please, Drops Merino Extra Fine 11 Red, or Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM6 ‘Ruby’ please)
Greens
Cream, one of the following - Debbie Bliss Rialto DK 02 ecru or Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM4 cream
and taupe - Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM7 Taupe

The Yarn we are Using….
Artesano Superwash Merino DK
Debbie Bliss Rialto DK
Drops Merino Extra Fine DK
Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK
Katia Merino 100% DK
King Cole Luxury Merino DK
Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool
Patons Merino Extrafine DK

Just from the brands listed please because we know they combine for wash and wear. If you still have any of our wools that have been discontinued - Rowan Cashsoft DK, Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK or James C. Brett Pure Merino DK in your stash, please do use them.

Our listed yarns are all easily available online - Try Wool Warehouse, Wise Badger, Laughing Hens

Simple or complex, made by beginner or expert, we genuinely welcome them all. It really is the love and thought that counts.*

Squares to be six inches, using 4mm needles or hook. Please knot off VERY carefully when finishing or changing colour and sew your ends in, thank you! The last thing any of us want are squares collapsing once the blanket is with Louise.

When posting, it will be the Teddington address, please make sure you add your name and who the squares are for, and if you would like to include a card for Louise please do, we will pass it on.

We will confirm last posting as soon as we are confident folk are underway

Sending so much love Thanks

My wool arrived today - many thanks to all the non-knitters and crocheters who made kind financial donations.

I'm planning on doing a few squares including bobble stitch ones with initials on.
Does anyone know of a crochet pattern for a bobble stitch/popcorn stitch ampersand???
I've searched high and low and can't seem to find one anywhere Confused

Any ideas??

I haven't seen bobble stitch , Fairy but the moogly alphabet stuff has one that you could use as an embellishment perhaps?

Thank you bookbook - that certainly looks like a good possibility.

No doubt it'll turn out to be slightly wonky - as a lot of my work does but I'm sure no-one will mind!!!

I'll give it a go over the next few days and I'll report back.

JellySlice after replying to you about squares being better a smidge too small than too big, I've got two coming up at roughly 5.7" instead of 6" but another row is going to take them over so I'm just leaving them as is. I'm not entirely sure I trust my tape measure after seeing it used in a game of tug of war earlier in the week Hmm

I've been on a look around and now have patterns for the rebel alliance symbol, a tie fighter, and the republic symbol. I'm trying to work out how to do an AT-AT. It should be as simple as a rounded rectangle, a smaller rectangle for the head, and four legs but my practice two turned out looking like wonky camels.

I've done a Rebel Alliance square. It looks a bit wrinkly but does go square when the sides are pulled, like they would be when joined. It's coming in at 5" so I'm going to leave it that size if that's okay then it'll have the stretch needed to pull it square.
