Our lovely TQ. TwitterQueen. We thought the world of her, she touched the lives of so many and we were all better for it. It was absolutely devastating when she died from ovarian cancer. Fuck cancer. Life was epically cruel to this beautiful woman.

We send our love and thoughts to her wonderful girls of whom she could not be more proud, her love for them shone like the brightest star, and we think of all who love and miss her everyday. We will remember TQ with hearts full and a big smile as we recall her in a dinner plate sized super sparkly badge at our Hugathon in September 2018. Epic!

She was a MNer for many years and will be sorely missed by so many of us here. The love and support she gave to so many folk on the cancer support thread was quite extraordinary, even when she was so ill herself. We were constantly in awe of this wonderful, thoughtful, super intelligent, caring, bloody funny woman. She sought to raise awareness of ovarian cancer which is often called the 'silent killer'. She really wanted more women to be aware of what few symptoms there are and in doing so undoubtedly saved lives.

How lucky we were to know her Thanks

We have offered each of her three daughters a blanket and are so glad they have all accepted, so glad we can all give them a great big Woolly Hug, especially after all the blankets TQ contributed to over the years, she worked so hard to bring comfort to others, whether it was our Mumsnet Woolly Hugs, Candy’s Hugs for women going through treatment for cancer or our ‘Chernobs’ Her compassion was endless. It really is time for her family now.

We hope that you can help us. Thanks

Squares to be six inches, using 4mm needles or hook. Please knot off VERY carefully when finishing or changing colour and sew your ends in, thank you! Previous blankets can be seen on our website

Simple or complex, made by beginner or expert, we genuinely welcome them all. It really is the love and thought that counts.

The lovely poster @Shelovesmilktray was friends with TQ for over 25 years and has been very helpful linking us up with her girls. We are truly grateful to her, thank you Thanks

When ready for posting, it will be the Teddington address, if you would like to include a card for TQ's daughters please do.

Raising a few glasses to TQ. We miss her. Wine Wine Wine

Wool has arrived here too, came home to the unmistakable pink squishy mail bag. Thank you Brew

WitchDancer · 21/11/2019 16:36

The pink bag is rather identifying - even DH recognises it 😂

elephantoverthehill · 21/11/2019 17:57

Thank you for the yarn.

ChippingInLovesWoollyHugs · 21/11/2019 19:17

I feel a little bit shortchanged! Mine arrived in an ordinary white delivery bag 🥺 but at least it was in the organza bag inside 😊

Shockingly some of it arranged itself into some yellow flowers today!

iPhone is onto something! It changes ‘ignores’ ti ‘ignites’ 🤣

KnottyAndPistey · 21/11/2019 19:22

the pink of those bags is a bit grim :-D

But we have a lot of them to go through!

I spent time with TQ on the lacies thread whilst dealing with my own cancer. She is sadly missed along with lovely Leslie
I can't knit or crochet but would like to help. I always love to see the beautiful blanket you all make.
I've sent a pm.

MadisonAvenue · 21/11/2019 21:39

My wool arrived, thank you!
The postman (who is lovely) was standing there holding the parcel while chatting and fussing my dog (who also thinks he's lovely) and the voice in my head was pleading with him to just hand it over 😂

ChippingInLovesWoollyHugs · 21/11/2019 23:11

@KnottyAndPistey

Ah, they’re your bags 🤣 that makes sense. I bought my wool myself from Wool Warehouse.

I’m not sure - can you ever have enough wool? Sadly so many blankets on the go at the moment and I didn’t have most of the colours required (or at least that’s my story & im sticking to it!!😉)

@Batshittery. Yes, both amazing women - very very much missed! Donations are vitally important 🌸 but should you get the urge to knit or crochet we can point you in the direction of fabulous online tutorials. 😊

Batshittery · 22/11/2019 10:52

Thank you Chipping but I know my limitations Smile

Yiayoula · 22/11/2019 13:36

Purple and blue yarn arrived ( in the famous pink bag 😂 ) - for TQ and Twittlebee. Many thanks to the kind donors .
Brew, Cake and knitting needles at the ready !

SwedishEdith · 23/11/2019 12:06

My wool has arrived! I wish I could crochet (I've tried to learn) as the squares look lovely and blending colours seems more straightforward.

I seem to knit quite loosely and 30/31 stitches seems to = 6 inches. Does anyone else? I'd like to know how many rows so I could "plan" 😁some sort of pattern better.

bookbook · 23/11/2019 12:40

Swedish - I normally knit for these squares . 31 stitches is right for me , and depending on the pattern I knit , anything from 40-42 rows does nicely :)

Bearfrills · 23/11/2019 13:21

First square done, I was even super-organised and sewed the peskies in there and then instead of procrastinating about them for days on end Grin

Bearfrills · 23/11/2019 13:22

Helps if I attach a photo

SwedishEdith · 23/11/2019 13:29

Thank you bookbook.

That crochet flower looks lovely Envy.

WitchDancer · 23/11/2019 13:37

Swedish - 31 stitches is about 6 inches for me when I'm knitting. I moved over to crotchet now though.

Lovely square Bear - is it a Jan Eaton?
