You find us busily setting up a new home for our wonderful project. Will be making a special cosy corner for Soupy's poor blind cat - recently blinded by fiesta and her very bright blanket kit Gin

As has been since the first year, this has been an astonishing team effort, folk never fail to amaze. THANK YOU! x

Our first project thread is here.... That was the one where we frantically made SQUARES and some folk made whole blankets, there was a lot of gin and the word characterful was used a lot Grin

On the last thread we reached the dizzying heights of 64/100 absolutely gorgeous finished blankets, so here's hoping this thread sees us through to target...

Ooooo, and this will be the thread where we share the Early Bird 2019 info if anyone has been inspired or just wants to get ahead! Thanks

The photo is from last year, tis the wonderful group who came to Portsmouth.

Cracking on then Grin

re Vienna, have a friend whose DH will never dance at a party. Unless he can get them to play Vienna, and that gets him up and dancing.

And he's not messing around, loves a dance to that song. I challenge anyone to dance to that! Gin Gin

So thrilled to be able to announce that we have offered to send blankets to the Chernobyl group visiting St Ives and they are thrilled to accept. Wonderful news!

It is both extraordinary and wonderful to have exceeded our original target, and be able to extend our offers, thanks to the wonderful woollies

THANK YOU!!!!

Thanks

I’ve already wasted half an hour paying ultravox on you tube...

MadisonAvenue · 12/06/2018 10:25

I would love to see someone dance to Vienna. I have a feeling that they could throw some quite dramatic moves in there.

I'm not a dancer so won't be trying it.

SoupDragon · 12/06/2018 10:29

Interpretive Dance is the only option I feel.

Or very slow flossing.

bookbook · 12/06/2018 10:35

I loved Vienna - darn you K&P Grin
I watched TOTP 1985 the other night while constructing, and oh the music was so good. ( But the clothes and hair !!!!!! ) .
It had Midge Ure with 'If I Was" and Annie Lennox and Aretha Franklin singing 'Sisters are Doing it for Themselves" ..... -

Jux · 12/06/2018 15:06

I've danced to it. Really really 'tired and emotional' as Private Eye used to say though. The only way to do it is to NOT TAKE IT SERIOUSLY. You have to take the p. Massively.

And be very drunk of course.

Jux · 12/06/2018 15:07

In fact, I chellenge you to do a group dance to Vienna when you meet up in September......

We shall require it on film.

diamantegal · 12/06/2018 21:51

Hmm, I hadn't booked tickets to the Hugathon as it's our only free weekend in months and family seem to think they should rank above crochet. But seeing you all group dance to Vienna is seriously tempting...

Okki · 12/06/2018 22:19

I'm going to have to go and look Vienna up as I've no idea what it is .

bookbook · 12/06/2018 23:07

you youngster Okki Grin
Jux - how are you ? Good lord - 'Tired and Emotional' - ( wasn't that a reference to George Brown? - really showing my age now ...!)

Okki · 12/06/2018 23:37

Well book I'm still no wiser, though I did manage to find a lot of info about Vienna and Viennese music 😂😂

diamantegal · 13/06/2018 00:02

Okki seriously??? It means nothing to me. Ah, Vienna...

I'm not even 40 (albeit clutching at straws as I will be by the end of the year) - how young are you?!? Airlock) Although, disappointingly, it was apparently released in 1980 when I was 2. Maybe more longevity than I give it credit for...

And more worryingly, if Ultravox isn't your dubious karaoke ballad of choice, then what is?

diamantegal · 13/06/2018 00:03

Where the hell did the airlock come from. Thanks autocorrect...

MadisonAvenue · 13/06/2018 07:09

Okki Shock

Okki · 13/06/2018 08:02

To horrify you even further, I'm 43. I may redeem myself by recognising it when I find it. Ultravox is what I'm looking for then Grin

Okki · 13/06/2018 08:14

Ok I recognise it but didn't know what it was called. Karaoke - well I have the dubious honour of having had the DJ turn the machine off as I was so awful and when I walked into a party a couple of weeks later he pointed at me and shouted "oh, it's the girl who can't sing".

bookbook · 13/06/2018 08:19

hahaha Okki - mmm I suppose we can let you off!
