Woolly Hugs...We are making a blanket for annandale : Lovely donors and crafters, we need your help.

We have heard the dreadfully sad news that annandale’s husband died suddenly in February. Mental ill health is such a cruel and devastating illness. Bless his heart. Bless them both. We send annandale our love and are so sorry for her loss. She and their children are in our hearts and thoughts.

We are so glad that she has accepted our offer of a Woolly Hug, we hope it may give whatever comfort it can. There will be love crafted into every stitch. Annandale’s thread is here… if anyone would like to post condolences.

So we are now asking for help once again. We shall need crocheters, knitters and donors (of funds or wool) Thank you so much if you can help. If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM us with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, we can help you with all of it.

Just from the brands listed please because we know they combine for wash and wear. If you still have any of our wools that have been discontinued - Artesano Superwash Merino DK, Rowan Cashsoft DK, Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK or James C. Brett Pure Merino DK in your stash, please do use them.

Our listed yarns are all easily available online - Wool Warehouse, Wise Badger, Laughing Hens all v good and stock our brands.

Blues/Denims eg Jenny Watson 10
Cream but please one of the following - Debbie Bliss Rialto DK 02 ecru, Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM4 cream, or Drops Merino 01 off white
Yellow, Drops merino extra fine DK no 24 ‘light yellow’
Gold - but this one please Patons Merino Extrafine DK - Canary (00121)
Greens (not dark green)
Just for embellishments and accents:
Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM7 Taupe
Red - but one of these two please, Drops Merino Extra Fine 11 Red, or Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM6 ‘Ruby’ please
Black- we have if any one would like a little, do shout.
Donkey brown / darker taupe.

Star For personalisation...
In terms of personalisation - my husband was very sporty, he liked cycling and walking and rowing and cricket and tennis so anything around those would be wonderful. He especially loved planning our walking trips, with multiple maps to hand. He also loved reading and always wore glasses so anything bookish would fit him. We had daffodils at his funeral because it was in March and because he always enjoyed spring flowers.

Squares to be six inches please. Use 4mm needles or hook. Make sure all ends are very securely sewn in. No blocking please as it makes squares harder to join.

Simple or complex, made by beginner or expert, we genuinely welcome them all. It really is the love and thought that counts.

When ready for posting, it will be the Teddington address, if you would like to include a card for annandale, please do, we will pass it on.

So many beautiful daffodils so I did something a bit different. Tennis, rowing and some small daffodil type stitches in the yellow square.

Just had enough yarn for one more, I meant for it to be all cream but it was looking likely that there wouldn't be enough yarn so I added in the stripes, had about 10" of cream left in the end so it's a good thing I did!

I don't usually post photos, but as annadale is reading I will make an exception :) the yellow pattern was called "someone to watch over me" which seemed rather nice.

I will wait and post them with the completed Chernobyl blanket if that's OK?

WhatWould - they are lovely! - will have to go and find that pattern, very appropriate.
I am also waiting on finishing a Candy's hug to send them through, along with some extra Chernobyl squares I have done - mine ( hopefully!) at the end of the week
