I am afraid we bring very sad news. We heard recently that our SupermansBigRedBottleOfSpirits’ third child, beautiful baby Summer has died at nearly twelve weeks of age. Bless them all, such a devastating loss, we are so very sorry. Superman’s thread is here.

She and her family are in our hearts and thoughts, and we send them love. We are so pleased that they have accepted our offer of a Woolly Hug, there will be love for them all in every stitch. We hope it may give whatever comfort it can.

So lovely donors, knitters and crocheters, we will need help to make this happen, and will be so grateful if you can join with us. Thanks

All crafting abilities genuinely welcome, squares made by beginner or expert are equally welcomed. It really is the love and thought that counts.

Thanks

Superman and her family have been thinking about their blanket and have come up with some lovely ideas for baby Summer. Bless them all.

Ideas for squares or separate embellishments :

Summery flowers - inc chrysanthemums
Butterflies.
Ladybirds
Lions

If you are able to offer initials, please PM.

Just from the brands listed below please because we know they combine for wash and wear.

  • Drops Merino Extra Fine DK (new this time)
  • Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK (new this time)
  • Debbie Bliss Rialto DK
  • Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK ?* Artesano Superwash Merino DK
  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (is being discontinued but some still around)
  • James Brett Pure Merino DK (also being discontinued but some still around)

Superman’s family have requested bright and vibrant colours as they say these best reflect their beautiful daughter so....

  • Pinks (not pale)
  • Warm purples
  • Brighter greens
  • Creams - if using please use Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM4 ‘cream’ or Debbie Bliss Rialto 02 ‘ecru’

For accents/embellishments on squares, not whole squares pls :

  • Red but please only use Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM06 “Ruby”
  • Yellow for flower centres only
  • Turquoise.

?Do use the crafting guide on the website to help you with lots of practical info such as help with buying colours, recommended online retailers and if interested there are a lot of linked suggestions for patterns.

Previous blankets can be seen on the Woolly Hugs website and we are on Facebook and Twitter at MNWoollyHugs which are good ways to keep in touch.

This means so much to the family, thank you so much for joining with us

Thanks

Pistey and Knotty

Deramores is quick at delivering!

In love with my wool, and should start crafting after I make a star costume for DD1 tomorrow.

Jacksmania · 01/12/2013 15:29

Deramores does ship insanely fast. I placed an order and had it, in Canada!!! in seven days. I heart them.

HaveToWearHeels · 01/12/2013 15:53

Help needed please, I have started my square which is the The Lace Heart & Bobble Square from the refuge patter found here on page 3
www.gobookee.org/get_book.php?u=aHR0cDovL3RoZWtuaXR0ZXIudGhlbWFraW5nc3BvdC5jb20vc2l0ZXMvdGhla25pdHRlci50aGVtYWtpbmdzcG90LmNvbS9maWxlcy9hdHRhY2htZW50c

Have got to row 39 and I am at a complete loss as to what I have doing, can someone translate please along with row 41 ?

Stitches I am stuck on are Inc and No Stitch. I have done an increase for Inc but not sure that is right as I have two many stitches !

HaveToWearHeels · 01/12/2013 17:23

Got it now Grin

BarbaraWoodlouse · 01/12/2013 20:36

Oh good stuff HaveToWearHeels. Saw this earlier but was busy with usual Sunday craziness. Was about to post to say your link didn't work but I thought had the pattern somewhere. Good to hear you have it sorted. It's a lovely square IIRC Smile

HaveToWearHeels · 01/12/2013 20:39

Thanks Barbara had a bit of quiet time, DD and DH have a bug so we were lounging around with "Enchanted" on DVD so grabbed my needles. The square has come up lovely.

HorsesDogsNails · 01/12/2013 21:35

Pistey is the posting address the same one you PM'd me in the summer? I've got 2 squares ready to post.....

RatherBeOnThePiste · 02/12/2013 06:49

still no yarn here, but am itching to get started! I'm ready whenever the yarn arrives :)

ThePigOfHappiness · 02/12/2013 14:45

Same as that kveta... I'm in work all this week for nights so can be very productive.
I've been practicing knitting team heart with some nice purple. I think if I send knitted squares they will be plain and essential!

RemoteControlGeekToyOfTheYear · 02/12/2013 14:47

Posted my squares today - we're only one day into December, why are the queues already so long?? Oh, I forgot to put a slip in to say who it's from so wrote it in the 'sender' details on the outside of the envelope - sorry - rushing too much! Xmas Blush

JulesJules · 02/12/2013 16:26

Deramores delivery arrived! They are so quick.
