We have heard the shocking and devastating news that TrinityRhino's DP died suddenly this weekend. Very sadly, many of us will also know that Trinity tragically lost her DH four years ago. Trinity's thread is here
She and her girls are in our thoughts and we send them much love.

We've offered to make them a blanket in the hope it may give whatever comfort it can.

So we are now asking for help once again Thanks

Pistey (RatherBeOnThePiste) will co-ordinate and I'll be here to answer any queries you may have. We need crocheters, knitters and donors (of funds or wool).
If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM Pistey with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc.

Thank you so much Thanks

The wool we are using

  • James C. Brett Pure Merino DK
  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (being discontinued, but still some around)
  • Rowan Cashsoft DK
  • Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK
  • Artesano Superwash Merino DK
  • Debbie Bliss Rialto DK (new to us)

Just from these please as they are very similar and we know they can be combined for wash and wear. These are all easily available online, try Deramores, Laughing Hens, RKMWools, AWoollyTail, WiseBadger.

The Colours
Warm purples, blues, silvers and cream
If choosing cream please go for either the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK 013 or the James Brett no 7
Green and pink but only for embellishments

Suggestions for motifs
*Fishing, fish and the sea
*Themes from nature, flowers
*A submarine, a gecko
*A teddy bear, a crocodile (for Trin's teddy bear in a crocodile suit)
*We have their initials if you would like to help with this, please PM Pistey.

Thanks

Squares to be six inches, using 4mm needles or hook.

Simple or complex, made by beginner or expert, we genuinely welcome them all. It really is the love and thought that counts.

Previous blankets can be seen on our website We also have a Facebook page MNWoollyHugs and are on Twitter @MNWoollyHugs. If you like or follow us you'll be updated on progress via your feed. If looking for ideas for a pattern, there are many linked to from our website under Crafting

When ready for posting, please PM Pistey for info.

As always, we thank you so much for your support. Thanks

Lots more wool is on the way, if it comes in a blue plastic bag, it is probably via me from funds from a lovely donor, huge thanks. Please remember if you have any donor wool to let us know it has arrived safely, so we can pass the news on.

You are all stars Thanks

Donors do remember, if you would like us to send on a card to Trinity and her family from you, you have all the info in a PM or email from me. Crafters send cards along with their squares if they wish to.

We are sending cards earlier now, they will go soon after the close of a project, so about three or four weeks from now.

So please think and send if you would like to X

Sincere thanks to all again Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks

Thumb I've PM'd you asking if it would be OK to stitch MOO! on one of my squares 'cos I didn't know the story behind the cow thing!

TacticalWheelbarrow · 15/05/2013 19:29

My wool and needles should be arriving tomorrow so I can start :)

I'm really worried mine are going to be crap and I will be Blush when looking at everyone else's amazing work!

A square made with love is the most important thing.

TacticalWheelbarrow · 15/05/2013 19:52

knotty you might change your mind when you get my squares through Grin

How long do we have until we need to post them?
I can't believe all the hard work you ladies put into this, I was on the wooly hugs website and had a warm fuzzy feeling :)

How many squares do you usually receive out of interest?

KnottyLocks · 15/05/2013 20:02

We haven't set a last posting date but it's generally 3 to 4 weeks after we start the project.

The number of squares varies from project to project. Once the Woolly Hug is made, any additional squares go towards the fundraiser blankets.

TacticalWheelbarrow · 15/05/2013 20:08

Ok thanks for the info, I will start tomorrow :)

WednesdayNext · 15/05/2013 20:09

So sorry for Trinity and her family.

I'll do a square, but could do with donor wool if possible. I'll pm.

VirginiaPosh · 15/05/2013 20:37

So shocked to hear Trinity's sad news, much love to all the family xx

I can't knit or crochet so I've made a donation via paypal through the

link on the Woolly Hugs website.

ditavonteesed · 15/05/2013 20:39

I would love to join this project, I cant afford any wool at the moment but if anyone wants to send me some I can make some squares, they will be quite basic as I am just a beginer.

KnottyLocks · 15/05/2013 20:49

Dita, PM Pistey. She'll sort you out. A simple garter stitch square is very snuggly in these wools .
