We have heard the shocking and devastating news that TrinityRhino's DP died suddenly this weekend. Very sadly, many of us will also know that Trinity tragically lost her DH four years ago. Trinity's thread is here
She and her girls are in our thoughts and we send them much love.

We've offered to make them a blanket in the hope it may give whatever comfort it can.

So we are now asking for help once again Thanks

Pistey (RatherBeOnThePiste) will co-ordinate and I'll be here to answer any queries you may have. We need crocheters, knitters and donors (of funds or wool).
If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM Pistey with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc.

Thank you so much Thanks

The wool we are using

  • James C. Brett Pure Merino DK
  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (being discontinued, but still some around)
  • Rowan Cashsoft DK
  • Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK
  • Artesano Superwash Merino DK
  • Debbie Bliss Rialto DK (new to us)

Just from these please as they are very similar and we know they can be combined for wash and wear. These are all easily available online, try Deramores, Laughing Hens, RKMWools, AWoollyTail, WiseBadger.

The Colours
Warm purples, blues, silvers and cream
If choosing cream please go for either the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK 013 or the James Brett no 7
Green and pink but only for embellishments

Suggestions for motifs
*Fishing, fish and the sea
*Themes from nature, flowers
*A submarine, a gecko
*A teddy bear, a crocodile (for Trin's teddy bear in a crocodile suit)
*We have their initials if you would like to help with this, please PM Pistey.

Thanks

Squares to be six inches, using 4mm needles or hook.

Simple or complex, made by beginner or expert, we genuinely welcome them all. It really is the love and thought that counts.

Previous blankets can be seen on our website We also have a Facebook page MNWoollyHugs and are on Twitter @MNWoollyHugs. If you like or follow us you'll be updated on progress via your feed. If looking for ideas for a pattern, there are many linked to from our website under Crafting

When ready for posting, please PM Pistey for info.

As always, we thank you so much for your support. Thanks

Knotty and Pistey

I am an idiot... Brought my parcel of squares for all three current Hugs on the school run but left my purse at home!

GlaikitFizzog · 10/06/2013 15:05

Argh, soupy! That's the kind of thing I do!

I went to a different PO today because we were that side of town. Lets its dpsay we won't be going back, DS pulled a whole shelf of mouse and rat traps (it wasn't the nice end of town) down. Mortified! Still all my knits are winging their woolly way to you Pistey!

Trumpton · 10/06/2013 15:35

Hope to get mine in post tomorrow. DD was not well yesterday and I have DGCs today . Smallest is refusing to sleep and is squealing at me from her jumperoo ! Will knit frantically tonight once I have them both in bed. Deep purple squares by the way. One with a celtic triskele , one plain.

SoupDragon · 10/06/2013 15:38

Be careful when you open Glaikit's parcel, Pistey, it may have a mousetrap in it! :o

UniqueAndAmazing · 10/06/2013 18:05

Yeay! I finished it!

Both squares finished, kissed and wrapped.
DH will try to remember to post them on his morning break tomorrow. :)

blondieminx · 10/06/2013 20:14

I had an email on Saturday saying wool had been dispatched... Today's post brought a hospital appt and an NCT magazine but no wool Sad

Catmint · 10/06/2013 21:03

I had a look at the Woolly Hugs website, which brought me to tears. A quick question, who decides how the squares will go together, and who actually joins them up?

Thanks.

GlaikitFizzog · 10/06/2013 21:15

Pistey and knotty (forgive me there is someone else but I can't think who, pidj maybe) hook the blankets together. I think they all have their own ways of putting them together. Some are random, some laid out symmetrically by colour, all are works of art IMHO!

SoupDragon · 11/06/2013 07:35

Pidj has certainly done them in the past

blizy · 11/06/2013 13:32

I forgot to go,to,the postie yesterday but my squares were posted this morning, imhopemthey arrive safely. X

OpheliaBumps · 11/06/2013 13:37

My squares should have arrived today.

I was on the woolly hugs site last night looking for some pattern inspiration for my next mini hug, and I was saddened to see how many MN blankets we've made, just over a couple of years. So sad that we've needed to make so many, I do hope they offer some help to the recipients.

JulesJules · 11/06/2013 18:39

I lost this thread and only just found it again, nothing to do with the Wine ...

Where should I send my squares?

Thanks
GlaikitFizzog · 11/06/2013 20:15
