We have heard the shocking and devastating news that TrinityRhino's DP died suddenly this weekend. Very sadly, many of us will also know that Trinity tragically lost her DH four years ago. Trinity's thread is here
She and her girls are in our thoughts and we send them much love.

We've offered to make them a blanket in the hope it may give whatever comfort it can.

So we are now asking for help once again Thanks

Pistey (RatherBeOnThePiste) will co-ordinate and I'll be here to answer any queries you may have. We need crocheters, knitters and donors (of funds or wool).
If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM Pistey with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc.

Thank you so much Thanks

The wool we are using

  • James C. Brett Pure Merino DK
  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (being discontinued, but still some around)
  • Rowan Cashsoft DK
  • Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK
  • Artesano Superwash Merino DK
  • Debbie Bliss Rialto DK (new to us)

Just from these please as they are very similar and we know they can be combined for wash and wear. These are all easily available online, try Deramores, Laughing Hens, RKMWools, AWoollyTail, WiseBadger.

The Colours
Warm purples, blues, silvers and cream
If choosing cream please go for either the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK 013 or the James Brett no 7
Green and pink but only for embellishments

Suggestions for motifs
*Fishing, fish and the sea
*Themes from nature, flowers
*A submarine, a gecko
*A teddy bear, a crocodile (for Trin's teddy bear in a crocodile suit)
*We have their initials if you would like to help with this, please PM Pistey.

Thanks

Squares to be six inches, using 4mm needles or hook.

Simple or complex, made by beginner or expert, we genuinely welcome them all. It really is the love and thought that counts.

Previous blankets can be seen on our website We also have a Facebook page MNWoollyHugs and are on Twitter @MNWoollyHugs. If you like or follow us you'll be updated on progress via your feed. If looking for ideas for a pattern, there are many linked to from our website under Crafting

When ready for posting, please PM Pistey for info.

As always, we thank you so much for your support. Thanks

RatherBeOnThePiste · 01/06/2013 20:49

Yes you did lovely, thank you X

MOSagain · 01/06/2013 20:52

Pistey are you colour blind or am I? X

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 01/06/2013 21:26

MOS, what colours did you think they were? Wink

MOSagain · 02/06/2013 08:21

Purple and cream, definitely purple :-)

PurpleFrog · 02/06/2013 09:33

It wasn't Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Shade 37 purple was it? Pistey described my square for a previous blanket done in that shade to be pink! Grin

RatherBeOnThePiste · 02/06/2013 09:57

Yes! Tis!! Grin

Amethyst innit? I'll go with pinky purple or purply pink, how's that?!

GlaikitFizzog · 02/06/2013 09:58

Poor pistey, its difficult to tell colours apart when looking through the bottom of a Gin bottle!

droitwichmummy · 02/06/2013 16:22

Hello. I'm back from my holiday with some knitted/crocheted goodies just waiting to have ends sewn in before putting on my profile. I have my purple/silver cow square, a gecko, starfish, 2 fishes and some seaweed so far...

MOSagain · 02/06/2013 16:26

Morning everyone.
I remember reading on other threads that attaching things like beads, sequins and buttons wasn't a good idea. I think it was partly a weight issue and partly a bad idea when there were babies/ small children in the family and there were finger catching/ scratching concerns.
I have some very small metal buttons shaped like fish and some bugle beads I've been thinking of adding to one of my squares.
Will take your advice though if you think they'll be a pain.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 03/06/2013 10:21

Bless you, BBB, thank you for thinking to check, they sound lovely and as long as not too many will be fine, thank you Thanks

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 03/06/2013 12:58

Oh great,thanks Pistey.
Whether I can execute it satisfactorily is another thing. Don't want the back to look a mess and want the bugle beads to look like bubbles not poo!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 03/06/2013 19:13

it'll be lovely I just know it X
