Woolly Hugs' Knitted Knockers!

This is a small project to help our friends out at the Octavia Appeal and the Royal Brompton Hospital.
We have been asked by the Octavia Appeal to help make some Knitted Knockers for the Breastfeeding and Expressing team at the Royal Brompton Hospital.

Babies born with heart conditions often find breastfeeding more difficult as they do not have the energy required for it. With so many newborn babies being transferred to the Brompton, it is vital that they help support mothers with this.

Knitted Knockers help the teams teach mothers how to express and also about latching.

So, can you help us?

The knitting pattern is here on our Woolly Hugs' site

The lovely Rubycon has tested it for us and says that it takes approximately 50g (one ball) of yarn plus a little bit for the nipple.

We're suggesting any DK wool that can be machine washed.
The hospital are happy to accept any colours of your choice.

We have a small amount of donor wool available.
PM Pistey if you need donor wool and we'll get some sent to you.

Please send your Knockers flat and Pistey will happily stuff them. Smile

We could do with a handful. Grin

As ever, many thanks. Bless you... and your knockers. Thanks

I did one last night - a purple-tinged one - just right for this weather! It will be sent with a couple of Angel Hugs so I may as well stuff it before I send it, as it won't add to the postage price. Are you just using normal polyester toy stuffing? I notice that the pattern recommended stuffing with foam...

RatherBeOnThePiste · 19/01/2013 15:51

Ninja's norks are up on Facebook for all to see Grin Thanks

PurpleFrog I've been using normal stuffing, I'd go for whatever you have my lovely, thank you X

Thanks
TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 19/01/2013 15:52

thanks, just seen the photos, it's not often my knockers go on public display Grin

JulesJules · 19/01/2013 16:19

Arghh.

Now I can't stop singing "Yer gotta kni' a knocker or two-oooo...Yer gotta kni' a knocker or two" in a fine Cockney accent, to the tune of "You gotta pick a pocket or two" from Oliver.

Thanks Grin

I have only just seen this. Do we need a separate Woolly Hugs bit?

KnottyLocks · 19/01/2013 16:21

And what a lovely pair they are!

Lovely norkage, Ninja Grin

JulesJules · 19/01/2013 17:05

I've had a look at the pattern. I don't understand it. What do you knit for the rest of the row of the 3rd decrease, then the 4th and 5th decrease? Is the 5th decrease the last one?
