I have to admit that it has taken me while to write this. Sometimes it feels that despite all the words at our fingertips, there are never the right ones.

This morning we learnt of the heartbreaking news that Cupofteaplease's beautiful daughter, Beatrice, had been taken from us: another bright star to light the skies above us.

If you have followed Cup's threads, you could not have failed to be touched by Bea's magic and be inspired by her mother and her family (affectionately known as The Teaset ) who ensured that for Bea, 'A life filled with love is a life worth living.'
Their dedication to Bea, their bravery and love reached many hearts and touched many lives. Bea will live long in our hearts and memories.

Our thoughts and love are with them all and we hope that this blanket may give whatever comfort it can to them.

We would be very grateful for your help. Here's how:

We need knitters, crocheters and donors.

RatherBeOnThePiste will coordinate and match crafters and donors, and deal with the admin side. I'll try to answer any queries you may have.

If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM Pistey with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, and she will match you up.
Whatever way youd like to be involved, please PM Pistey: it really helps us to know how many people are involved. Thanks

The wool we are using:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)

  • Rowan Cashsoft DK.

*Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK.

*Artesano Superwash Merino DK.

They are very similar and can be combined.

  • 4mm knitting needles or hooks

  • knitters cast on 33 stitches (this is a guide for less experienced knitters)

  • 6" squares

The Colours:

Pinks, blues, greens, warm purples, silvers and cream (we'd be grateful if you use Debbie Bliss 013, if opting for cream)

If you wish to make flowers and bees and would like to use yellow, please PM Pistey as we have some in our stash and we would like to use the same colour throughout. Thanks

Ideas for squares:

Motifs:
Bees, primroses, violets, daisies and any other flowers.

Please don't feel daunted by any of the ideas as we really love plain squares and simple textures too. They look as stunning as the more complex squares and actually play a vital role in the overall effect.

Previous blankets can be seen here on the Woolly Hugs website . We also have a Facebook page: MNWoollyHugs and are on Twitter @MNWoollyHugs. If you 'like' our Facebook page, you'll be updated on progress via your News Feed.

As always, we thank you so much for your support.

Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks

Hi, is it too late to make a contribution? My mum would like to knit a square on my behalf but we can't get started until Monday, are squares still needed?

KnottyLocks · 26/10/2012 19:59

Thank you lovely Whatever you are a star, and welcome to MrsRhettButler, glad to have you and your mum on board.

Just away to PMs, huge thanks to everyone Thanks

pearlgirl · 26/10/2012 20:10

I would also like to knit - will it be ok if I get wool at the beginning of next week.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 26/10/2012 20:21

pearlgirl my lovely, you have mail Thanks Glad to have you on board Smile

ChippingInLovesAutumn · 26/10/2012 20:30

I just want to hold Cup and take away the pain for her, I can't stop crying for them all. It's a sad day for me anyway the 24th, then last year little Mia made it that much more sad and now this year Bea - it's not bloody fair :(

One year, one month, one week & one day - what a lot of love that little girl spread in such a short time - she will be missed.

It really touches me when posters who have (sadly) had blankets made for them come onto these threads - whether it's to knit/crochet, donate or just to send their love - there's just something very special about it and it adds another layer of hugs to all of the blankets.

I'll PM you Pistey - just to keep your records straight.

HaveToWearHeels · 26/10/2012 21:23

Thanks Pistey, my yellow wool turned up today accompanied by a curly wurly which I have hidden from DH and DD. Will get cracking on something flowery this weekend.

Somersaults · 26/10/2012 21:27

Vipers shmipers.

Woolly Hugs shows the innate goodness of MN. It shows that, no matter what people think or say, we damn well care about each other. When it truly boils down to it we are there to support each other in whatever way we can. We do the best for each other and while we may appear to have big mouths, we also have very big hearts.

Droit, you can do the dragon please I have not the patience not the skill!

I could probably manage a viper actually! No legs

Four4me · 26/10/2012 22:00

pistey Pleased the money made it safely and yes it was my scribbly writing on the envelope for cup. Just glad to contribute to something so wonderful. Feel like it is a cop out really as no skill required!!!! Promise to learn to knit/crochet when (here come the excusey bit) I haven't got four dc at home for half term and two of them about to have minor day surgery.

Loving the vipers in woolly jackets (and crochet hats)!!!!!!!!!!

droitwitchymummy · 26/10/2012 22:05

What colour/s are the wings?

HocusPocusPigInACaldron · 26/10/2012 22:12

Oh my goodness, i was thinking, i'm a bit skint this week i can't send more wool.

Then i read cupoftea's thread. I am in bits, i have never cried so much at a post on here.

I have some stuff ending on ebay this weekend, please match me to someone Pistey and i'll send wool with some of the proceeds on Monday, cupoftea's need is far, far greater than mine.

Thinking of Cup, Beatrice and the family.

I'll pm you too.

GlaikitFizZombie · 26/10/2012 22:16

They are the red from the attic 24 pack and patons fab in rio. I also didn't have small enough needles so its knitted on 4mm and in stocking stitch not the fancy one in the pattern.

Maybe a tag team effort isn't such a good idea seeing as I have already used artistic licence!! I'll try again, I got quite far for a first attempt, I'm just not sure where I went wrong Confused

MrsRhettButler · 26/10/2012 22:45

Oh I'm so glad it won't be too late and I will be able to contribute. X

droitwitchymummy · 26/10/2012 23:07

Have another go and see how you get on - I'm sure you can do it!

HappyBloodBlackPumpkinEater · 26/10/2012 23:28

Have crocheted 2 squares today.

Love to the teaset.

trumpton · 27/10/2012 07:53
