Those are gorgeous Frankie (and I've only just realised you can click on these pictures to zoom Blush).

Pidj, I saw your comments on another thread about selling crocheted blankets, and I recalled seeing a beautiful one for sale once for what I recall as around £150. So I had a look on Etsy.... Shock

Umami, wow. I'm sitting here, mouth open. That's unbelievable.

That's realistically how much actual work goes into a blanket - including the Woolly Hugs. I reckon on about 20 hours to construct and edge, that doesn't include the time other people spend making squares.

There's no money in it, although I'd love to teach...

the one your granny taught you is a double treble, and the extended treble is the triple treble (or treble treble)

Report
Umami · 12/08/2012 15:15

But I thought the double treble and treble treble had more than one yo right at the start?

Soooooo confused Confused

Report
nickelcognito · 12/08/2012 15:37

let me think....

trible treble, yo twice, then through, then yo, through, loop off, yo, through, loop off until you've finished all the loops

double treble, is how your granny did it.

I might have to google now Confused

it gets even more complicated!!

in US usage, the treble is our double treble -
crochet.about.com/library/weekly/aa101897.htm

and the US double treble is our triple treble (same link)

ahhh!!!!
your yo once then through and once is a half either treble or something else
i've jsut got to post this so i can go back to the previous page and check your description

"I'm sure that when my Nan taught me to crochet, many moons ago, the basic stitch she taught me was yo, through st, yo, back, yo, through 1, yo, through 2, yo, through 2"

i think she made that up...
Wink

it sounds like a half double treble...

It's the 'through one' that appears to be odd. Probably made up is strangely comforting! Grin

My latest square. It's a ripple pattern, and I crocheted in the gaps to make it more square. I need to check with Pistey to see if it's square enough!

Primmy, that's gorgeous, and thank you for squaring it! I just dealt with one in the same pattern that wasn't, closest I've ever come to swearing on a blanket project Blush

(I'm a very sweary person but it seems inappropriate on these somehow)

Somersaults - is that pattern available on the tinternet? It's lovely.

Love the grannysquare Dances, I'm still not entirely confident enough for all that colour changing malarkey.
