Following on from the terrible news of the loss of Mumof2TeenBoys' ds, a new Woolly Hugs project has been started and, as ever, MNers have stepped up to offer whatever little comfort we can to Mumof and her family. We also keep close in our thoughts Aillidh, the dd of expatinscotland, who died yesterday.

We've put together some general info mostly about knitting but with some crochet bits thrown in, which should get you started but please feel free to ask for any help - I'm not sure if the crocheters are going to set up a new support thread but their current one is found here.

Please dive in - we will inevitably end up talking bollocks rubbish at some point but all are welcome aboard.

Ah Trib I just remembered that I was all over that thread so I just advance searched my name with the word 'heart' - I don't post that much elsewhere, I mostly hang about in knitting where it's safe so it didn't take too long to find!

I'm not saying DH is a dinosaur, but I can't see him in any of those things, even the tie is a stretch as he has to wear a corporate one to work. So he can make do with some cashmere-blend socks and a canvas picture of DD2 and be bloody grateful Wink

Actually, tribs, I was already halfway through that square when you brought out your new improved version so I finished it and ironically all my yawning chasms of doom were all right. Oh no, where I made the mistake was in the heart itself, in the middle! You know, the easy bit!

chipmonkey · 24/07/2012 00:48

Way to crochet, Puddle!Grin

RedRosie · 24/07/2012 05:56

Yarn arrived this morning! Pale pink Cashsoft DK. Now to decide on patterns. I think I will crochet.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 24/07/2012 20:21

Evening all Wine

Just catching up with PMs Thanks

Glad to see more woolly wool is arriving, smashing.

Awwww Joyful that is so cute Smile and if your squares stretches to 6" then it is fine Thanks

chipmonkey · 24/07/2012 22:55

I have done four rectangles squares. Two Hello Kitties, a heart square and a rose.

droitwichmummy · 24/07/2012 23:23

Finished 2 rose squares this evening. Will try to post pics tomorrow - really hope my donor likes them, DS has already ordered a similar one (thankfully the quicker of the two!)
Have found a lovely leaf pattern which should contrast well so have made a start on that. Just hope i can adapt the pattern to the right size...

NeitherShreddedNorSmug · 25/07/2012 04:43

Evening all. I've just rediscovered my dormant crochet skills and knocked up a granny square with some left overs (last held a hook over 30 years ago when I was a brownie) Grin. I still can't face round 2 of the lighthouse.

snigger Pidj

I am Envy of all the newly skilled hookers - I have never even tried. I do think the croquetted squares are often prettier than the knitted ones (well the ones i knit, obviously not the ones all of you lot that actually do them properly knit). I shall knit my last 2 squares for the current round of blankets and then see if I can teach myself to hook. If it is not going so well expect many cries for help.

DancesWithWoolsEnPointe · 25/07/2012 11:34

Does anyone else particularly like the jealousy emoticon? Envy I love its eyes, it always makes me smile Grin. No? Just me then? I guess I'm just easy to please...

FormerlyTitledUntidy · 25/07/2012 11:49

pidj Confused I don't get it?
Dances I love the eyes too
No more hooking done, I got free tickets to madonna for last night. Am paying for it now Envy for how my skin looks...

DancesWithWoolsEnPointe · 25/07/2012 13:07

Rather look at your arms Formerly - I bet you have more feminine arms than she does!

FormerlyTitledUntidy · 25/07/2012 13:18

I do :) mine are nice and soft! But she has a lovely bottom. She kindly showed us all too Hmm

PurplePidjin · 25/07/2012 13:26

It's just a song with a lighthouse in, Formerly

FormerlyTitledUntidy · 25/07/2012 13:31

Ah. Think it was shredded who was doing the lighthouse though?

PurplePidjin · 25/07/2012 13:40

Sorry, name-reading fail Blush
