This is a continuation of our thread supporting MNers creating blanket squares for Woolly Hugs. All are welcome and I'm hoping to post a link soon to a collection of our fave patterns, pics and links to keep them all in one place. In the meantime, this new thread will allow phone-based MNers like RedRosie to return from Special Phone Exile where she goes whenever the thread has too many messages on.

This is a thread of peace where knitters and crocheters, donors and crafters are all equally welcome.

Well, it's not actually raining here but i've got a load of towels in the machine so we shall see how long it lasts Hmm

Bastard blackberry tablet jobbie won't let me see your googledocs, Tribby. It just asks for username and password Sad

prettybird · 13/06/2012 11:32

Have now started an Icelandic jumper for my nephew. The Icelandic lett-lopi wool feels so rough and course after the smooth silk Cashmerino/Cashsoft!

FormerlyTitledUntidy · 13/06/2012 11:46

Not raining here (yet) but is forecast for the next 7 days :(
Get on it Rosie :)

PurplePidjin · 13/06/2012 12:05

It's pissing it down again Sad

LackaDAISYcal · 13/06/2012 12:26

No rain here, but it is cloudy, damp and miserable and very cold. I have just had to put the heating on; it's the middle of June FFS Angry

I don't like it too hot as I have to stay out of the sun due to a sun sensitive health condition, but I would like it to be warmer than 10 degrees in high summer!

At least hooking the blanket squares together won't be too hot a job for knotty in this weather Grin

Oh and I found these funky plastic hooks on Amazon for flying hookers!

PurplePidjin · 13/06/2012 12:44

Ooh pweeeetty

tribpot · 13/06/2012 13:38

Is everyone just ignoring Rosie's latest work of genius? Hypnotized by plastic crochet hooks?

It is a cruel, cruel world for the artist, Rosie.

Hello, can I join you all? I'm having a go at doing a square for Matilda's blanket. I can only just cast on, knit and purl. Can't cast off as yet but will worry about that later.

I'm waiting on my wool being delivered and am practicing with a random ball in the meantime. it's not going very well

What should I try? All knit? Or a combination of knit and purl? I'm really dumb and some of the technical terms on here terrify me Grin

PurplePidjin · 13/06/2012 13:45

Rosie's genius is far too highbrow for mere plebs like me!

Hairy, Trib and the clever people on here will have you doing all sorts of complicated patterns, browse through some links - most are just knit, purl, count :)

RatherBeOnThePiste · 13/06/2012 13:50

Cheeky half day for me today! So I'm going to try my boat pattern again once more. If it doesn't work this time then tough!

GlaikitFizzogKnitterOfTheRealm · 13/06/2012 14:05

Btw suns shining here, just hung out my washing so guaranteed it will rain in the next hour!!

PurplePidjin · 13/06/2012 14:19

RedRosie · 13/06/2012 16:35

The Woolly Hugs Poet Laureate hates you all apart from Pitsey and Formerly for not properly appreciating her poetry.

Philistines. The lot of you.

I may write a poem about it.

:o

LackaDAISYcal · 13/06/2012 16:46

ahem....I refer you to my previous petical efforts....

imitation being the most sincere form of flattery and all that Wink

FormerlyTitledUntidy · 13/06/2012 16:59

A POEM FOR ROSIE
in recognition of her sterling work as the poet laureate and because I am a lickarse :o

Red Rosie, Red Rosie
Is so lovely she smells like a posy
She is smart, she is not dozy
She uses her woolly hugs to keep her cosy

Rosie writes poems that have won awards
She knows exactly what to do with words
Her wool makes things fit for lords
And for that she deserves rewards

Untidy and Pistey love her, they cannot ignore.
The rest of the blanketeers must be having a snore
otherwise they would shower her with words of adore
ation and for that I will be guarantor!

RedRosie · 13/06/2012 17:08

Scarily good Formerly. Scarily good.

Yes. Sorry Daisy.

The Woolly Hugs Poet Laureate (TM, patent pending) hates you all apart from Pitsey and Formerly and Daisy for not properly appreciating her poetry.

Philistines. The lot of you especially Trib

I may almost certainly write a poem about it.

:o :o

FormerlyTitledUntidy · 13/06/2012 17:11

Rosie, you may have to watch your laureate back.....:o

LackaDAISYcal · 13/06/2012 17:34

Oh Rosie, RedRosie You poet
Your words are luffed here don't you know it.
Don't go off in a huff
Do your wordsmithing stuff
And tell all your detractors to blow it!

Grin
LackaDAISYcal · 13/06/2012 17:34

and on that note, I need to get to work...
