This is a continuation of our thread supporting MNers creating blanket squares for Woolly Hugs. All are welcome and I'm hoping to post a link soon to a collection of our fave patterns, pics and links to keep them all in one place. In the meantime, this new thread will allow phone-based MNers like RedRosie to return from Special Phone Exile where she goes whenever the thread has too many messages on.

This is a thread of peace where knitters and crocheters, donors and crafters are all equally welcome.

Oh PrettyBird, hope you heal very quickly. Sending a gentle hug. X

tribpot · 02/06/2012 12:56

Always drop the knitting, bird. It bounces. Take it easy today though as the shock will be as bad as anything.

My squares ready for departure. It's been another joy to work on these blankets, despite the great sadness that accompanies them.

But the bottle of rum for the hookers wouldn't have Wink

Actually, it happened so fast that I didn't even have to think about it. I didn't believe it was happening and assumed that I would be able to stay upright. I was lucky though - 'cos it happened in the middle of a road junction - that there were no cars around.

GlaikitFizzogKnitterOfTheRealm · 02/06/2012 13:15

Oh pretty I've done that so many times. My dad still calls me Fitless.

I would stick your knees under a gently running warm shower, much less harsh than wiping. And I think you have the best excuse to sit down all day.

prettybird · 02/06/2012 13:19

Dh has suggested that I have a nice relaxing bath with lavender oil in it while he tidies up the tip of a house :)

prettybird · 02/06/2012 13:27

And I've had a couple of rejuventating pieces of tablet :)

tribpot · 02/06/2012 13:50

I think you and DH have found the right treatment, bird, you just need to repeat all day as necessary.

Morning everyone Brew

Trib - love the guide, tis marvellous, and def yes to adding it to the website, yes to adding in photos. I'm planning on doing some 'housekeeping' in there this next week, bit of dusting, bit of hoovering so maybe try to add this is at that time? We could aim for that? Let me talk to Knots about it too. Thank you trib Thanks

Pidj What Babs said is right, Dave the Mouse (who is here) is knitted in Dave the Donkey [also helpful]

Pretty What are you like? You poor thing As you know we rate your tablet in this family too Smile

GlaikitFizzogKnitterOfTheRealm · 03/06/2012 10:55

So I am working on my 2 tone flash square and I am finding it difficult to count to 2, so some flashes are bigger than others. I'm calling it character. I am not frogging it again. I think I've knitted 2 squares worth but had to frog a few times.

In better news my tinking is coming along in leaps and bounds.

DontCallMeYourMajesty · 03/06/2012 11:20

I see my squares have arrived. :)

The flower and leaves are knitted, not crocheted btw - can't crochet for toffee. Flower: rescuetales.wordpress.com/2012/05/11/stray-cat-vs-cheekie-pet-how-to-spot-a-cat-in-genuine-need-of-rescue-help/ and leaves from a book of knitted and crocheted flowers, birds, bugs and stuff. I had intended to embellish that square anyway, but a dropped stitch made it a necessity!

Shortly to commence icord bindoff on second colour of the windmill bag - I do like that technique, very clever.

prettybird · 03/06/2012 13:13

I'll make sure to bring some tablet down with me when we visit in July thenPistey :):) - that and some WineWineWine not that we're lushes of course GrinBlush

GlaikitFizzogKnitterOfTheRealm · 03/06/2012 14:21

Flash square done

Some of the flashes are going in the wrong direction as well as the wrong size. But I do not care. I've done a two coloured square that isn't stripes!

GlaikitFizzogKnitterOfTheRealm · 03/06/2012 14:58

Can anyone talk me through increasing at the end of a row?

prettybird · 03/06/2012 15:24

My Big Fat Knitting Book provides a number of suggestions - but you'd really need to see the illustration as well as the written description.

I could do another square, as I've got 45g of wool left, in various colours...... Smile

GlaikitFizzogKnitterOfTheRealm · 03/06/2012 15:37

I've decided to knit front and back. I'm only doing a heart adornment to hide a small mistake. But if it works out I'll maybe do a few more.

DontCallMeYourMajesty · 03/06/2012 15:49

Knitting front and back does seem to be idiot-proof - speaking as an idiot. Grin Worked a treat for my knitted bunting.

GlaikitFizzogKnitterOfTheRealm · 03/06/2012 16:44

Hmm maybe I am an idiot then. It's a bit angular for a heart but not a bad first attempt

tribpot · 03/06/2012 17:23

Good work Glaikit! With regard to the flashes, was my pattern okay?

OP posts:
GlaikitFizzogKnitterOfTheRealm · 03/06/2012 18:01

Yes my counting was not though. Thank you Trib. I know what to do for next time though. Might do it in the opposite colour way just to prove o can do it.

tribpot · 03/06/2012 18:03

Adding the border stitches may not have helped as it will have interrupted the flow of the counting. But should make the square easier to incorporate into the blanket.
