This is a continuation of our thread supporting MNers creating blanket squares for Woolly Hugs. All are welcome and I'm hoping to post a link soon to a collection of our fave patterns, pics and links to keep them all in one place. In the meantime, this new thread will allow phone-based MNers like RedRosie to return from Special Phone Exile where she goes whenever the thread has too many messages on.

This is a thread of peace where knitters and crocheters, donors and crafters are all equally welcome.

Thank you Knotty and Pistey for your gracious understanding on my screw-up. There is border each side so crocheting over/sewing the sides under is deffo an option. Apologies for creating extra work Blush

BTW am I the only person who says 'crocheting' as 'crotch-eting' in their head?!

PurplePidjin · 28/05/2012 07:28

Well, it's not crotch-ett, so why would it become crocheting?

Crowshay all the way :o

tribpot · 28/05/2012 07:42

The guy who runs the restaurant where our yarn shop holds its classes thinks it's called croquet.

MinnieBar · 28/05/2012 11:38

I never said it was logical Pidj Grin

notpodd · 28/05/2012 12:01

Crotchetting sounds like some thing to do with music and crotchets.

But I do always save Ni-am in my head when I read the name Niamh if it makes you feel better.

tribpot · 28/05/2012 12:03

Well it is semi-logical in that 'crowshay-ing' is an odd word to say, it doesn't flow very naturally. And in French it would get its t back if it came before an i :)

OP posts:
notpodd · 28/05/2012 12:14

That's why I say knitting Grin

tribpot · 28/05/2012 12:16

tsk tsk podd Wink

Btw as you've ripped through the windmill bag, are you going to be looking for another project, or did you say you had more bags to do?

I need to make 2 more for DDs 2 and 3. I'll be after something after that though.

BarbaraWoodlousaraptor · 28/05/2012 15:51

Once my squares are posted and I've finished The Bag, I'm attempting this for DD, in pink but with the short sleeves. Sure hope you're not going anywhere Trib! Smile

Oh, and you too Pistey of course, my other knitting guru Grin

RedRosie · 28/05/2012 17:23

Well. Train from "oop" north to "dahn" south only running an hour late today Confused

The difference being I have my square this time.

PurplePidjin · 28/05/2012 18:10

Barbara, my Mum has that pattern from circa 1984!

Molehillmountain · 28/05/2012 18:18

Love the bags and cardigan Smile. I have finished two more squares. Just as well as have sustained an injury that might affect knitting! Very painful scald on the sweet corn coming out of microwave. Vegetables are dangerous I tell you! Cabt tell til I try to knit but if the wool goes near that finger it'll be no knitting tonight Sad. Luckily can still breast feed and mumsnet Wink

notpodd · 28/05/2012 18:29

Ooo Lord Rosie - I'll have to knit 3 of those now too. DD1 will love nothing more that a ballet cardi that I knitted for her. She is that kind of child. DD2 will want one cos DD1 has one (even if deep down inside she'd rather I bought one from the ballet teacher), and DD3 is institutionalised and too small to formulate her own ideas on fashion yet.

tribpot · 28/05/2012 18:53

Mole - sounds painful. Cooking is overrated.

Barbara - love that cardigan. Is it knit all in one piece? I think Ravelry lists it as seamed, i.e. you have to sew the pieces together at the end. Podd, if you genuinely think you might end up doing 3, I'd have a look for a seamless equivalent for the sake of your sanity!

Rosie - one hour instead of 2 = Yorkshire magic!

I wonder if I might have finished my squares now the magpie is done. Lots of pesky ends to sew in of course ...

RatherBeOnThePiste · 28/05/2012 19:54

She is cuuute Pidj, well done you.

PurplePidjin · 28/05/2012 19:57

She's finished and there's a pic on my profile. She'll acqire a wardrobe over the next few days - as I'm doing the construction, im ignoring Pitsey's deadline Wink

RatherBeOnThePiste · 28/05/2012 19:58

Definitely crow -shayyyyy. I have just arfed at croquet Grin

But I do like the term crow-shet-teerrring because it is daft and makes me smile.

at being Babs' knitting guru Cheers my lovely Wine Wine

Hope Rosie is nearly home.

More luffly squares have arrived - check the Freds Thanks

RatherBeOnThePiste · 28/05/2012 19:58

Oi!!! No one ignores the deadline unless they bribe me with gin!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 28/05/2012 19:59
tribpot · 28/05/2012 20:06

Pistey, you can bribe yourself with gin. Give it a try!

Pidj - love Naked Princess Mouse! Hello magazine would have a field day with 'Racy Rodent Royal' type headlines.

OP posts:
RedRosie · 28/05/2012 20:32

Purple - you are CLEVER!

Rosie's home. Well, not home exactly but back in That London. Having a glass of wine before the trek accross That London to her bed.

PurplePidjin · 28/05/2012 20:53

Pistey, im off the booze remember but might buy you cake when we do handover Wink

Do you want a pic of Princess Mouse in her new frock?
