Blanket for MrsY and her family. Donors, crocheters and knitters, can you help us?

We have heard the desperately sad news that MrsY has lost her precious baby son Benedict and have offered to make a blanket for her and her family. She is very touched by everyone's kindness, and would love to receive one. Here is the original thread

So once again we are calling on the Blanketeers for help - whether it be donating, knitting or crocheting. Will you join us?

PM me and let me know how you can help, if you need matching up and I will be able to help you

For pictures from previous blankets, see here www.woollyhugs.com

As in the past, the wool we are using is:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)
  • or Rowan cashsoft DK

They are very similar and can be combined

  • 4mm knitting needles or hooks
  • Cast on 33 stitches
  • 6" squares

The colours for this project
Blues, warm purples, greens, silver and cream

So sad that another blanket is needed Sad Sending love to MrsY and her family.

Contributions are not necessary to ensure square inclusion, they just speed our hooks somewhat Wink

Thanks

Tablet is a Scottish speciality: a cross between toffee and fudge, which is made from 2lb sugar, 1/4lb butter, can of condensed milk and some milk and involves lots of stirring/beating.

AllMuddledUp · 07/06/2012 21:46

Wow, that sounds gorgeous, you had me at the 2lbs of sugar Wink I've got a dreadful sweet tooth.

I wonder if I could persuade MIL to have a go at making some...

MOSagain · 08/06/2012 08:13

Envy as a newly diagnosed diabetic I am positively drooling at the thought of those yummy tablets!

PurplePidjin · 08/06/2012 08:35

Any good??

prettybird · 08/06/2012 08:35

Sorry about your diagnosis MOS. Maybe you could have a piece when you need to get some sugar in quickly?

By the way - for those poor people who have never come across tablet, it is never used in the plural. I suppose it could be in certain circumstances - as in making batches in a number of flavours= different tablets.

MOSagain · 08/06/2012 09:58

Blush at lack of tablet knowledge. Would be a much nicer 'fix' than lucozade I imagine.

nickelbarapasaurus · 08/06/2012 11:12

do you fetch all of your squares from the caller's office?

i sent mine wednesday afternoon, and other people's packets sent in the same batch have already arrived. :)

RatherBeOnThePiste · 08/06/2012 11:21

okay.
:)

SoupDragon · 08/06/2012 13:09

Hours I spent at the PO yesterday, having battled through wind and rain in a valiant attempt to catch the post I didn't spend the afternoon learning chainless TC foundation for a ripple blanket, leap off the sofa swearing at about 4pm and drive to the PO where there was no queue. Oh no no no.. They had better arrive today...

SoupDragon · 08/06/2012 13:10

As I said in a PM, use the squares where you wish. There are 2 bears and 2 "personalised" ones but apart from that they are fine for either :)

WhoremoaneeMajesty · 08/06/2012 14:48

AM glad they arrived safely pistey. And i'm not last one in for a change....

AllMuddledUp · 08/06/2012 14:56

Phew, got my squares into the post this afternoon, hope they arrive promptly!

MOSagain · 08/06/2012 15:16

oh wow, have just been looking at the pictures on the woollyhugs facebook page and there are some seriously talented ladies out there. I would love to be able to be able to create beautiful squares like that.

PurplePidjin · 08/06/2012 15:40

Yeah, but Whore - technically you could drive yours straight to me and save postage Wink

I was still hooking on the train yesterday Blush
