Blanket for MrsY and her family. Donors, crocheters and knitters, can you help us?

We have heard the desperately sad news that MrsY has lost her precious baby son Benedict and have offered to make a blanket for her and her family. She is very touched by everyone's kindness, and would love to receive one. Here is the original thread

So once again we are calling on the Blanketeers for help - whether it be donating, knitting or crocheting. Will you join us?

PM me and let me know how you can help, if you need matching up and I will be able to help you

For pictures from previous blankets, see here www.woollyhugs.com

As in the past, the wool we are using is:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)
  • or Rowan cashsoft DK

They are very similar and can be combined

  • 4mm knitting needles or hooks
  • Cast on 33 stitches
  • 6" squares

The colours for this project
Blues, warm purples, greens, silver and cream

So sad that another blanket is needed Sad Sending love to MrsY and her family.

There is no name on this packet but I am quite confident where it has come from as I saw the square on her profile.

Thanks Droitwichmummy : Gorgeous pale blue snuggly knits, and Dave the Mouse is too adorable. Awwwww... Thank you for doing him, much appreciated. Smile Thanks

Will post on both threads as usual X

I missed the sodding post!
DH wasn't here before 12:30!

Can I send them on Wednesday (the next time the post office is open?

Also, I have only enough wool for 2 x 6" and 1 x 4" - shall I send the 4" one (unfinished with thread)? or shall I keep it for the next blanket?

KnottyLocks · 02/06/2012 23:09

Send them Wednesday. Smile

KnottyLocks · 02/06/2012 23:10

And hang onto the spare wool.

I made it to the PO yesterday. 3 squares on their way with my MN name as the return address.

Tried new techniques with the multi coloured ones. Not sure if I'll ever do it again. Blush

Now, I'm off to a knitting workshop in Nottingham. Lovely. GrinGrinGrin

Quick question. Are all the blankets the same size? How many squares do they normally have?

PurplePidjinghamPalace · 04/06/2012 08:57

Erm first one i did was 5' square, next two were 6'x4' which was easier to manage! Then a charity one from leftovers 4' square.

Then Knotty took over.

Around 100 squares is a manageable size and weight, and gives room to snuggle as a family :)

BIWItheBold · 05/06/2012 09:20

ciao bellas!

AllMuddledUp · 06/06/2012 09:23

Am I too late to do a square?

I have a blue ball of cashmerino so could just do a couple in that? Also have a raspberry pink if that's any good?

Can someone just remind me, if the squares are 6 inches how many do we cast on?
