We have heard the desperately sad news that MrsY has lost her precious baby son Benedict and have offered to make a blanket for her and her family. She is very touched by everyone's kindness, and would love to receive one. Here is the original thread

So once again we are calling on the Blanketeers for help - whether it be donating, knitting or crocheting. Will you join us?

PM me and let me know how you can help, if you need matching up and I will be able to help you

For pictures from previous blankets, see here www.woollyhugs.com

As in the past, the wool we are using is:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)
  • or Rowan cashsoft DK

They are very similar and can be combined

  • 4mm knitting needles or hooks
  • Cast on 33 stitches
  • 6" squares

The colours for this project
Blues, warm purples, greens, silver and cream

So sad that another blanket is needed Sad Sending love to MrsY and her family.

Knitting one of my squares today and my 2 and a half yr old son comes up to me and says "Pretty mummy, what you doing?"
"I'm knitting squares for some special mummies..."
"Special mummies, oh ok.... I do it too..." picks up a ruler and remnant of wool!
It was so sweet! I am pleased to know he approves too! One more square to go before posting...

RatherBeOnThePiste · 21/05/2012 20:27

Jules that's so cute!
Ds likes to play with my scraps but has been known to name squares and play one of his odd games with them. Apparently Peter rabbit and floppy were stuck but mopsy rescued them. Hmm this was done with a granny square and some scraps of wool.

I have finished a square - my mojo is returning! Grin
It's just a granny square with a tr border but it looks v square and is exactly 6 inches!

KnottyLocks · 21/05/2012 22:20

Jules, very cute Smile

And woohoo to the returning mojo Grin

nickelbabe · 22/05/2012 11:37

morning!
I can finally start crocheting today!

I have somewhere got about 5 3.4mm hooks, but after turning the shop and the house upside down this weekend, all I could find were 2mm and 5mm hooks!
I decided I would use the 5mm one (thinking it was a 4.5mm - which apparently has also disappeared Confused), but I finally found a 3.5mm this morning.
the knitting shop won't be happy, though! Wink

So, I've started.

nickelbabe · 22/05/2012 11:37

3.5mm not 3.4mm
