We have heard the desperately sad news that MrsY has lost her precious baby son Benedict and have offered to make a blanket for her and her family. She is very touched by everyone's kindness, and would love to receive one. Here is the original thread

So once again we are calling on the Blanketeers for help - whether it be donating, knitting or crocheting. Will you join us?

PM me and let me know how you can help, if you need matching up and I will be able to help you

For pictures from previous blankets, see here www.woollyhugs.com

As in the past, the wool we are using is:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)
  • or Rowan cashsoft DK

They are very similar and can be combined

  • 4mm knitting needles or hooks
  • Cast on 33 stitches
  • 6" squares

The colours for this project
Blues, warm purples, greens, silver and cream

So sad that another blanket is needed Sad Sending love to MrsY and her family.

I know :) but while I was waiting I was planning what to do, and then dd2 had a big nap so I got hooking :)

Thing3 · 14/05/2012 16:07

I would really like to knit a square for each blanket but I dont know how to message Piste. Can anybody explain please?

MoaningMinnieRisesAgain · 14/05/2012 16:13

Thing where it says Message Poster on the blue line across from Pisteys name, click on that to send her a message.

Thing3 · 14/05/2012 16:24

Thank you. I am using the mobile site on my phone and the message link isn't there. I have sent a message through my inbox.

My thoughts are with both families at this very sad time.

Thing, there should be an arrow on the right by someone's posts. If you touch that it gives you the option of reporting the post or sending a private message.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 14/05/2012 16:59

Thing has found me Grin

Thanks Nessa, have replied Grin
I think I'm just nervous about the casting on and getting the first row done. I vaguely remember my mum trying to teach me and seem to think I can do the plain stitch/knit and that pearl was doing it back to front if that makes sense?

tillyfernackerpants · 14/05/2012 18:19

I'm a relatively new knitter too! Can do garter & moss stitch, have done ribs as well but nothing more complicated than that. Pearl is back to front, yes Smile

RatherBeOnThePiste · 14/05/2012 18:27

I can do garter stitch That is all.

Purl is weird, and upside down and back to front and inside out and wrong!

When I tried, I had to stand up too - no idea why!

Now moss stitch is also beyond me, I think it is a knit one purl one sort thing

RatherBeOnThePiste · 14/05/2012 18:34

Here's one I did earlier

I wonder how Cakey is getting on? She's awful quiet......

TimeForCake · 14/05/2012 19:46

Oh I'm here Pistey! Keeping up with the threads don't worry - been meaning to post all day. Some of the blanketeers are so amazingly quick with their squares! It normally takes me about 3 weeks to crochet one square so I shall have to speed up this time. However, making a start would be good... Blush I did buy the jiffy envelope today though, in readiness for parceling up!
Glad to see there are other blanketeers with L plates too!

Standing up knitting Pistey?! Brilliant! Grin
Are you knitting or crocheting yours this time?
