A ball of wool from Fingers & Thumb has arrived. Many thanks to my generous donor especially given the situation with the supplier.

Having an Irish DH and DSs means I'll be knitting tomorrow as soon as we've finished celebrating!

Flubba · 17/03/2012 11:52

Okay, sorry if this should be obvious, but I've bought my wool and am sitting here at the ready to crochet a square. Does it matter what kind of design not that I have many to choose from - I only learnt to crochet last week Hmm? I have a 4.mm hook and some of the lovely Rowan Cashsoft DK. What size does it need to be?

Sorry again. I know this will be somewhere but my search results came up with a million and one threads. Blush

SoupDragon · 17/03/2012 11:55

6 inches square. Thats it.

Any design you like, plain is good too.

Flubba · 17/03/2012 12:03

Thank you Soup~ it's a huge relief nice to hear that 'plain is good' as that may well be it. I'll try a new pattern but likely fall back on the one square I've been able to do so far :)

Oh, and this wool is just lurrrrrrvely - so much nicer than the cheap crap I'm using for myself!

Alambil · 17/03/2012 12:17

flubba, would you like a really easy video to copy? can you do granny squares yet? They were my nemesis!

If so, is nice and easy - pause is your friend! you can just add rounds to the outer edge to reach 6in, but it worked when I crocheted loosely with my 4mm hook

DutchOma · 17/03/2012 12:29

Dinner will be after we have finished game of cards at around 6.30. Yes please to pudding, but nothing with cream as ds doesn't like cream.
One square finished.

PurplePidjin · 17/03/2012 12:59

Each square represents that person's condolences to the receiving family. A plain square made with huge effort by a novice is as appreciated as a complicated one made by experts.

Repeat the mantra: plain squares are good plain squares are essential

Squares and twitter birds done. Am
Posting on Monday. Took ages for orange to arrive for the bird's beaks.

RedRosie · 17/03/2012 16:09

You know that thing where they say that the mouse is more afraid of you than you are of the mouse?

Its not true.

But simlple squares are GOOD. Simple squares are ESSENTIAL ...

Even if you have to knit them in the bath because your DH is working nights and you feel safest from the mouse in there ...

Wibble.

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 17/03/2012 17:13

Rosie - Woman Up! It's a tiny little mouse, it will not eat you whole - or in fact At All. It's not going to bother you - you are a big, scary human!!

TheRealMBJ - any photos??

PurpleKittyKnitting · 17/03/2012 17:22

Glad it arrived! Blush at my squares being described as stunning! Hope the choccy bar goes down well!

TheRealMBJ · 17/03/2012 17:52

MBJ - thanks for the photos :) They are great squares and wee tweet is so cute!

RedRosie · 17/03/2012 21:26

Dear Pitsey and Knotty,

The wibbly-wobbly moss stitch square is done. Please can you PM me the instructions for sending? I may try to do another one before the deadline - but will send you this amateur effort anyway ...

Flubba · 17/03/2012 21:32

Hey, (preens a little bit) I've done my square and it ain't half bad (having said that, it ain't half good either, but I'm repeating the mantra 'simple is good, simple is essential' to myself!)

Where do I send it?

RedRosie · 17/03/2012 21:52

Hi Flubba - I bet yours is better than mine!

KnottyLocks · 17/03/2012 22:35

KnottyLocks · 18/03/2012 07:09

It's Mothers' Day and for many this day will be a difficult one.

Thinking of Wendy Wubbly, David & Lawrie.

Thinking of MrsKwazii & the Kwazii family.

Thinking of our many crafters and donors for whom this day will also be very hard.

Sending much love to you all and the strength to get you through this day and beyond.

Knotty xxx
