Oh dear I am worried, my OH posted it first class on Wednesday, hope it gets there

KnottyLocks · 16/03/2012 21:00

Kitty, it may just be that because some Post Offices close early on Wednesday, your package didn't get underway until Thursday.

I'm sure it will arrive soon.

The painfully slow-growing moss stitch square is almost at 5 inches ...

Progress has not been helped by the fact that there is a MOUSE in my HOUSE. I keep thinking I can see it out of the corner of my eye, however hard I am concentrating on the k1 yarn forwrd p1 yarn back k1 etc ...

DH is working nights and there is no-one to rescue me from the mouse. Although he is a bit scaredy when he is here TBH. Eeek.

Simple squares are GOOD. Simple squares are ESSENTIAL....

Alambil · 16/03/2012 21:58

I shall finish my squares tonight - there's four already and I'll fashion a fifth out of the bits left and then send the leftovers too...

I am hoping to get to the post office in the morning, so they should be with you before the deadlines :)

KnottyLocks · 16/03/2012 21:59

Nearly there, Rosie Smile

As for the mouse, you need to find out where it's getting in and block the holes with wire wool. Buy plug-ins that frit the mouse with nasty sounds only their delicate and pestilent little ears can hear and some traps, with poison tucked securely inside them, hidden away where little fingers can't reach them.

Humane traps sound nicer but don't work. In my experience, unfortunately.

I used to think they were cute until I found one rolling in my porridge oats one morning. Cheeky little blighter.

I used to have pet mice... they like chocolate more than cheese, by the way, if you want to catch it

RedRosie · 16/03/2012 22:08

Very helpful Knotty. Its the knitting that is keeping me sane ...

We have had mice before so have the best plug-ins that money can buy. I think they are immune.

We aso have kill-traps but nary a mouse has ever been caught in them. We tried humane traps but they laugh in the face of such naivety. For these are streetwise South London mice, and nothing puny humans can do seems to make much difference ...

RedRosie · 16/03/2012 22:12

Hi Lewis - they ignore both chocolate and peanut butter. We have no food spoiling or nibbling in our kitchen at all ... The only thing they can be getting out of this activity is terrorising human beings. What are they eating?

Bastards.

Alambil · 16/03/2012 22:13

hmmm they truly are super-mice!

PurplePidjin · 16/03/2012 22:54

Apparently they don't like lavender? Douse cotton wool in strong smell, use to block all visible holes...

Or borrow a cat from someone -.-

RatherBeOnThePiste · 16/03/2012 23:14

Evening Wine

My only experience of mice are the ones my cats bring in, sometimes they are alive, and sometimes they are in pieces. Confused

But what I like least are the frogs, bloomin things scream....
Tis Frog Season coming soon

Is this going to be the day of the arrival of the F&T parcel? If not, I shall scream all the way to Hobbycraft.

tribpot · 17/03/2012 07:57

Oma - hope so! Although in our Hobbycraft you can't buy either of the yarns for this project, but I'm sure you can appeal to Knotty and Pistey for mercy!

SoupDragon · 17/03/2012 08:03

Shamrock

Oooh pretty!

Just nosing around to see how everyone is getting on.

DutchOma · 17/03/2012 10:14

Shamrock This is the day, this is the day that the wool arrived, that the wool arrived. We will rejoice and be glad in it.
Pistey was right and it did arrive today. Now I just have to get some milk and the paper and then I will have time to knit until ds,ddil and baby Rose arrive to play cards.
I am doing a steak and ale pie for dinner, so will need a little bit of time finishing that off for the oven, but othersise it will be knit, knit, knit.

KnottyLocks · 17/03/2012 10:19
