We have just heard the tragic and devastating news that MrsKwazii's daughter has passed away today in an accident. She was 4 Sad

We would like to make a blanket for MrsKwazii's family, to offer them what comfort we can.
If you would like to contribute in any way, please sign up below and PM RatherbeOnThePiste with your offer: crafting, donating, need wool, don't need wool, etc. She'll match you up.

We need knitters, crocheters and donors. If you would like to donate wool, then we can match you up with a crafter.

If you are offering to donate, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you'd like to donate 1 or 2 balls of wool. They cost roughly £5 per ball.

Crafters, if you need wool please let Pistey know if you'd like 1 or 2 balls of wool.
One ball should make at least 2 x 6" squares.

The wool we are using is:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)

  • or Rowan Cashsoft DK.

They are very similar and can be combined.

  • 4mm knitting needles or hooks

  • cast on 33 stitches (this is a guide for less experienced knitters)

  • 6" squares

The Colours:

Blues, warm purples, greens, silver/ greys and pinks.

Update from MrsK

The family will be happy to accept a blanket in memory of their DD.

Al0uise · 27/02/2012 14:08

Oh that's good, I love the Twitter birds idea too.

TheRealMBJ · 27/02/2012 14:20

She wanted me to pass on their thanks for the way in which people have rallied around them. People they have never met.
Her DD apparently loved the Care Bears and their tummy badges if anyone is skilled enough to incorporate one into their square.

PurplePidjin · 27/02/2012 14:30

MBJ, any in particular? I'll make a toy one if that would be appropriate?

messymammy · 27/02/2012 14:32

Oh mbj I'm so glad MrsK is getting some comfort at this truly terrible time for her.
Ok, care bears, lovely. What shapes are there on them? Heart, shamrock, rainbow, what else?

GentleOtter · 27/02/2012 14:36

Some Care Bear tummy badges

RatherBeOnThePiste · 27/02/2012 14:46

Lots of lovely heart ideas on Rav - this is nice. Shamrock and clover and sun.

chipmonkey · 27/02/2012 14:49

I will try to do a care bear

CiderwithBuda · 27/02/2012 14:51

How sad. Have just seen this.

Will do some squares. Already doing some for the first blanket so will do some more.

Primrose123 · 27/02/2012 14:56

Very sad. I will knit some squares. Could I be matched up with someone who wants to donate wool?

KnottyLocks · 27/02/2012 15:28

Primrose, please PM RatherBeOnThePiste just up there ^

Thanks.

Have ordered two via cucumberpatch - hopefully the lovely knitter will receive in the next few days Smile

Happy for it to be used for either blanket if there is spare not admitting that I have no clue how many squares one ball would make....one ball per square?!
