Blues, greens, creams, silvers.

I think it's probably better to avoid reds - some many variations and really hard to pick if ordering online.

Amber, will do Smile

KnottyLocks · 20/02/2012 13:08

Can we avoid yellows? They are really hard to match in as there are so many shades.

Rowan do a 'Cream' cashsoft DK.

Thumbwitch · 20/02/2012 13:14

I think lilac would go in well with the green, blue, cream and silver as well, just give it that bit of "pinkishness" so it doesn't look too "cool" coloured, iyswim. Although a rich cream colour would be warming too.

SoupDragon · 20/02/2012 13:16

The lilac is lovely - although I'm not sure which variety I had for the last blanket.

KnottyLocks · 20/02/2012 13:17

Strangely, the lilac is often cooler than some of the blues, Thumb.

Thumbwitch · 20/02/2012 13:17

I was looking at the Debbie Bliss cashmerino lilac, Soupy - might have been that one?

KnottyLocks · 20/02/2012 13:18

There are some gorgeous dark purply colours that add a real richness and warmth though.

Thumbwitch · 20/02/2012 13:18

True Knotty, and the greens are often warmer, depending on whether they're yellow base or blue base.

I suppose I was just thinking that the lilac wouldn't look out of place among the others; and tbh, neither would the occasional square of pink.

PurplePidjin · 20/02/2012 13:19

There are also a few orange shades that can be hard to match, especially with an abundance of purple...

stressedHEmum · 20/02/2012 13:21

Will knit some squares.

KnitterNotTwitter · 20/02/2012 13:22

Hey - happy to be invovled

Have asked for the thread to be moved to Arts and Crafts

SoupDragon · 20/02/2012 13:24

I like the dusty purply pink right at the bottom here.

And the grey next to it.

And the blue just before it.

And 18019, 18024 and 18028

Probably best I stop looking :o

nickelDorritt · 20/02/2012 13:25

I'd like to do a square.
can someone send me wool please?
Thanks

SoupDragon · 20/02/2012 13:26

I've asked MNHQ not to move it to A&C :)

KnottyLocks · 20/02/2012 13:26

Hello folks

I've just heard from Syb: Pistey and I will take on the organising

I need to contact Mr Wubbly first.

I think we'll start a new thread in Chat specifically for gathering woolly folks and donors together, along with additional info needed.

KnottyLocks · 20/02/2012 13:28

Soupy, I've used that dusky purple, its very lovely. As is the sort of duck-eggy blue a bit further up.

Thumbwitch · 20/02/2012 13:30

Good stuff, Knotty - glad that bit's sorted. I'm sure you will anyway, but please can you link it here when you've done it? Thanks

miniwedge · 20/02/2012 13:30

Hi,

such sad news. Sad

I have wool left over from the last blacket and would love to knit some squares for the wubbly family.

Alambil · 20/02/2012 13:48

Please can I offer to crochet some squares?

LadySybilDeChocolate · 20/02/2012 13:54

HI Smile

Knotty has very, very kindly offered to take over the organisation for the blanket and as she's had experience in this already Sad I thought that this was a good idea. It's such sad news, please do post on the other thread. I just hope wubblys family see it so they realise how loved she was on here and how she made the lives of so many people better.

Thanks,Syb.

I've contacted Mr Wubbly and explained how amny lovely lovely people have already offered to help make a blanket for him and Lawrie.

I hope to get back to you soon.

LadySybilDeChocolate · 20/02/2012 14:22

Smile I can donate some wool. I'm not a very good knitter, I've had something attached to my knitting needles since last year because I can't remember how to cast off! Blush

OP posts:
KnottyLocks · 20/02/2012 14:27

Syb, there are some very good YouTube tutorials on Casting off that could probably help. I think that's how Pistey taught herself.

When we're sorted, we'll go back through this thread and make a note of who has offered to make and donate.

LadySybilDeChocolate · 20/02/2012 14:30

Smile I have to do the school run in 20 mins so will have a look later. Thank you xx

As before, I'm happy to do little fixes for beginner knitters and crocheters. It's far more meaningful to have one square from someone who has taught themself in order to contribute.

I'm currently unemployed and can be found in The Tattoo Parlour Cafe in Boscombe near Bournemouth every Wednesday from 10am. It's a knit and natter and I'm happy to bring wool and teach people who want to have a go and they do lovely coffee then drop squares off to Knotty later
