We have heard the dreadfully sad news that Chipmonkey's baby daughter died unexpectedly this week. Condolence thread is here Chipmonkey has said tonight that she would love to receive a MN blanket.

Because Knotty is snowed under a mountain of wool, I am taking on the coordination for this, so if you are a donor or a crafter needing a match - please PM me and I will match you up. I know there is an amazing army of donor, knitter and crochet stars, and I am hoping that you will feel able to help with this blanket too.

So if you feel that you can help, please PM me with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, don't need wool, and I will sort it all out, and when you are ready to post, PM me for the address.

I will have to get back on the deadline...

But thank you in advance.

Thzumbazombiewitch · 16/10/2011 13:17

Oh Knotty!!! [hgrin][hgrin][hgrin][hgrin][hgrin][hgrin]
Those are hilarious, I love them! I must find the pattern and send it to my MIL for her craft group [hwink]

Pistey, I see that people have already suggested you twist the different colour yarns together for the narrow stripes you would be doing - agree entirely. But for future reference, if you are planning on bigger projects with colour changes, you knot the new wool colour to the old wool colour at the end of the row, so the thread is continuous. [hsmile]

RatherBeOnThePiste · 16/10/2011 16:03

Am out and about, just have a technical Q, can you combine the debbie bliss and the Rowan stuff in the same square? For my stripes you see. Will it work? I wanted cream and the only one I can find is the DB but I have the other one at home. Comparing the two brands they aren't the same.
Confused

BecauseImWorthIt - many thanks for the wool, which arrived yesterday. I am just about to decide which pattern I'm going to go with for my first square and then get started. Thanks again!

BecauseImWorthIt · 16/10/2011 21:28

That's a pleasure! I wish I had the skills to actually do some of the knitting.

Thzumbazombiewitch · 16/10/2011 22:31

Pistey, I don't know - the reason those two were suggested was because they were similar enough that they wouldn't cause problems with distortion when the blanket was washed, so I would imagine it should be fine to combine them in the same square - but how different are they? If the thickness is very different it might be an issue - but if it's just textural, don't worry about it.

Thzumbazombiewitch · 16/10/2011 22:34

Oh yes - I have had a lovely email from the lady at caféknit, telling me that she has already packed up the wool for my crafter and it will be collected for delivery first thing Monday morning, so whoever Pistey has linked me with (initial E, living somewhere in the Cream Tea county), you should have your wool by Tuesday and if you don't receive 2 balls of DB Cashmerino, one green and one silver by then, please could you let me know? Thanks Thanks

duchesse · 16/10/2011 22:47

Zombie, I suspect that might be me. I'm away at the moment as my father is back in hospital but will be back on thursday afternoon and shalll report back then!

KnottyLocks · 16/10/2011 22:48

Yes, you can combine the two different wools. It works. Have done it on many a crochet square.

BIWI, maybe you could put some lessons on your Christmas list Smile

Sadly, knotty, I am useless with my hands - which means that I hate actually doing anything crafty. Sewing lessons at school were a torture for me. Intellectually I'd like to be able to do it, but actually being able to, or having the patience to do it is a different thing!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 17/10/2011 13:43

Its Monday lunchtime, maybe if you are still waiting for a wool delivery, that hasn't yet made an appearance, you could PM me and we could chase it up? Bloomin post office.

I'm going to have one of these now Brew but sadly not one of these Biscuit

Thzumbazombiewitch - thank you, I have done my practice striped square, and twisted the wool up the side, by the time I got to nearly 5 inches, I'd worked that bit out Grin I did 2 cream, followed by 8 pink, and even though I was knitting it and watching the rugby, I did manage to concentrate enough on the counting of rows!

I got the cream so now can do one that is predominantly cream with pink stripes. The only problem with using two colours is there are twice as many bloomin pesky ends to bloomin well sew in! I was contemplating doing a square with three colours, but due to the afore mentioned issue, I may put that idea on hold... Hmm
