This broke my heart to read. The impact a child who chooses to declare themselves the opposite sex has on their mother in particular is brutal. I cannot imagine a world where my children would demand that I change my own history to bow to their indoctrination.

So cis women 'pretend' to be women & cis men 'pretend' to be men?

Huh.

Men and women don't have to pretend, they just are.

It's the trans people who feel they have to change their clothes and their bodies to match their feelings of being something that they aren't.

Nope, I added a link to an article about the study above.

Hahaha! We all know that Jack Turban is completely unbiased in the field of gender studies…

Do you believe that humans can change sex?

No, I don't actually. But this mother doesn't need to believe that either. All she needs to do is call her child by their preferred name and pipe down about the moral injury to herself that her child doesn't want to see lots of reminders of her childhood. That seems to be the sticking point for her and she seems to believe that if she treats her child with respect, it's somehow saying humans can change sex. The result is that her child doesn't speak to her.

I think you’ll find that it’s the child who’s in denial.

Of what? That they owe their mother & every other ignoramus on this issue their obedience?

As opposed to who facebook 'research'?

And yet it's happening. Not just to the author's daughter, but to thousands of other young women.

No these are people already seeking answers to questions they have. Remember, we have and have always had women who lean towards a masculine presentation. Especially nowadays, people know you can be a masculine presenting woman, you can even be straight and that way inclined. But that doesn't satisfy people who pursue transition even though they know it is a option.

People who don't have these questions already cannot be "indoctrinated" into "becoming trans".

That they are female, not male.

There's this thing here where any research that disagrees with the consensus is seen as too biased or otherwise invalid. It's silly.

So cis women 'pretend' to be women & cis men 'pretend' to be men?

Huh.

There’s no such thing as ‘cis’. It’s men and women. No pretence needed.

Ah we see the true colours here. You silly women, mucking about on Facebook instead of affirming my our lady feelz.

🤔

Is that trans site off line or something or is it just because it’s half-term?

Glowingup · Yesterday 09:02

But you have to ask yourself why you would want to say to your child that they look adorable in something you know they look back on with hate?

You can talk about that with their other parent, family members, friends, but why does she want to constantly relive this past with her child?

It would be like any of us constantly having out baby pictures and wanting our kids to coo over them with us. It's all a bit weird.

Exactly. Find friends or some other outlet to talk about your memories if you must. They aren't even shared memories. Most people don't have clear memories of young childhood and very often they have a very different perspective of their younger years to their parents. So seeing themselves aged 5 in a princess dress is really not going to evoke the same emotions as it would for the parent. And if you know it upsets your child, why the fuck would you insist on it? Same with the name, if you know they want to be called Sam rather than Clarissa, why the fuck would you not respect that?

Nobody is suggesting sex changes AND you know this. At this point its a wilful misunderstanding.

The whole thing is about changing sex. Hence the array of drugs and brutal surgeries to create the facsimile of the opposite sex, the appropriation of women's language and spaces by disordered men and the deliberate targeting of children too young to critically evaluate the myth that sex change is a positive choice for them.

Just because the gig is up and governments are finally taking steps to stop the serial gaslighting of children by the trans lobby you can't retrofit your history.
Don't you remember Transwomen are Women - get over it! 😂

Stop with the gaslighting.

I think you’re the one gaslighting, OP.

Reading this thread, it just struck me very clearly how odd it is that TRAs and those who sympathise with them believe that a trans person's idea of what makes a man or a woman is automatically the authorative one. The person who has not in fact lived the life is given more credence than the ones who have.

Trans people say "my experience is this, and that's how I know I'm a man/woman". Thousands, millions, maybe billions of other people say "ok, but surely I am also a man/woman and my experience isn't that at all, it's this."

But for TRAs the second set of people have no value at all. The first statement carries all the truth and everyone else is supposed to say "oh ok, I didn't understand myself and my own life and my own experiences, it must indeed be as the transperson said".

The suggestion that perhaps it's the trans person who didn't understand themself and their own life and their own experiences is treated as utter shocking blasphemy, triggering the raining down of every horror that can be invoked. And yet it's exactly how TRAs and their sympathisers treat anyone who disagrees with them.

The double standards are fascinating.

I likely have very different experiences and opinions about womanhood than you. It doesn't mean that either of us aren't real women.

I don't think that shared experiences is what makes us both women, so I don't think that the differences in our experiences and opinions means that a trans woman isn't a woman. My basis for trans women not being women is rooted in biology. Not philosophy.

If I were to exclude women from single sex spaces based on their lack of shared experiences and opinions with me, then it would be a very empty ladies toilet.

Gender refers to the socially constructed roles, behaviours, expressions, and identities that society considers associated to women, men, girls, boys, and gender-diverse people.

In other words gender is associated to sex via typical behaviours.

If you want to go into detail about gender perhaps start a new thread.

So there are two sexes and there are gender stereotypes ("typical behaviours").

Anyone can have any personality, and people can't change sex.

Glad we cleared that up.

brownbootsandhats · Yesterday 09:06

I can see that insisting on physically harming yourself would break a parents heart

i can see that changing the name the parents gave you would break a parent’s heart

I can see that people do rewrite history - the mother remembers the child loved that dress and couldn’t get it clean fast enough, the child grows up, the child hates that dress now they are older ( doesn’t have to be an identity thing, just finding a more adult style) . Instead of being able to laugh about that process , the truth is being changed. If you can’t speak truth , your world falls apart

Cherrysoup · Yesterday 09:06

And of course the parents have to pretend to back it to the hilt, f

no, they don’t

But if the child refuses to continue a relationship with the parent because the parent won’t comply with their child’s request to be addressed as the opposite sex, then there isn’t really a choice, is there?

But sex does change...on the birth certificate.

allthemind · Yesterday 09:06

No its always like this. One thing TRAs hate is women and mothers discussing how damaging and illogical trans ideology is. They are constantly monitoring for it. Seems like a very sad way to live to me, having to constantly try and prop up a failing ideology with nonsense word salad designed to confuse and obscure reality but that hasn't evolved in any substantive way since the early 2020s because there's just no way to get people to believe the nonsense that kids are born 'in the wrong body' or that humans can change sex anymore.

Did you get that last paragraph off ChatGPT or the back of a fag packet?
Any ‘identity’ based on a lie cannot be valid. And what is this ‘psychological interchangeability between men and women’ of which you speak? If thinking you’re the opposite sex to your actual sex isn’t a psychological illness what is it?

"Any ‘identity’ based on a lie cannot be valid" = Any identity I don't agree with cannot be valid.

Identity is a self determined phenomena based on subjective personal beliefs & values. In other words, you don't get decide for someone else who they are.

And what is this ‘psychological interchangeability between men and women’ of which you speak?

While men & women over lap psychologically there are some behaviours that are more typical to each sex that are socially categorised into expectations or stereotypes of man or woman.

Gender is the socially constructed categories of man or woman or non binary.
