Why, just why??? Why does something as pure as remembrance need to be politicised with trans and queer ideology? Or am I being unreasonable to be triggered?!

No, i'm just interested in what it is you are trying to achieve. We all have reasons for posting on particular forums, for what we hope to get out of the activity. Sometimes it may be down to a shared hobby or specific interest eg architecture, car mechanics, parenting tips, football fan zone, baking blog etc; and sometimes we just post for the company of like minds ( which may well be attached to the above shared interests).

I'm not sure why my earlier post was deleted? I cannot see anything contentious in it?

I think it may have been deleted because you sre again insinuating that this space is for GC people and others posting with opposing or alternative opinions are somehow disruptive or intruding. The staff have made it clear that isn't the case and that all views are welcome within guidelines. It isn't a GC site. It allows people to express GC views unlike some other sites.

It makes no sense to you because your understanding of what the pride flag means as only a celebration is limited to say the least. Acceptance & equality which the pride flag promotes are directly associated with egalitarianism…a foundational principle of western liberal societies. Y'know the thingy our soldiers fought for.

Actually most of them I knew were fighting at home and abroad, not to be invaded by a foreign power. In more recent years they've been sent to places with a less Britain centric objective, to support political allies.
Mostly they fought to protect a way of life that they would no longer recognise, some changes good, not all.
Interestingly my gay uncle whose national service was in the medical corps, had a harder time being accepted in the nascent NHS than in the army. Not particularly egalitarian.

No, I'm simply trying to have a conversation with you because you often seem to feel disgruntled. The point is when ours is not the majority viewpoint then it is inevitable that we will end up feeling besieged.

I'm not disgruntled. I'd say the person questioning why someone is contributing to an online forum seems the one a bit out of sorts, wouldn't you?

Do you have any more questions about why people who arent GC may want to post in the sex and gender part of the feminism board on mumsnet.com?

I'm not going to spend all day in a pointless back and forth. It's not why I post. Have a good day.

What was a simple act of remembrance, of thanks and gratitude, has been commercialised in to crass and tatty tribalism. 👎

Yep.

Yes, they can be expressed, and within the rules, the same as for every other contributor; though it is important to relaise that you will always be in a minority due to the formation and history of this particular forum. Many people have come to this board over the years not only to challenge, but to antagonise or to wilfully troll...and yes, to act as disruptors. Why else would someone choose to post on a board in which they already knew they would be a reatively lone voice ( and then complain when they find themselves overwhelmed by responses and requests)?

Masochism?

What a bizarrely angled retcon.

Pride poppies are necessary to uphold the principles western liberal societies were founded on that also oppressed LGB service men and women.

I dont think acceptance and equality had much to do with bombing Dresden tbh.

I'll wear a red poppy in memory of all of them.

Kindly, you really need to move on. This fixation is tiresome. MN have clarified things to you in your two Site Stuff threads questioning the FWR board. Here is a reminder of one of their responses to you:

Hi @Lexibletheflexible thanks for posting. The board is there to discuss sex and gender in the context of feminism and women’s rights. People with a wide range of views are welcome to contribute, including those who disagree with the prevailing view on a particular thread. There’s no requirement to be gender critical, or to subscribe to any other position, to take part and we have many users on both sides of the debate who regularly contribute.
The intention has always been to make room for discussion between people with different perspectives, and that includes questioning and challenging each other’s arguments.
We introduced the separate board following requests from many users who wanted more room to discuss other aspects of feminism alongside the discussions about sex and gender.
The Talk guidelines apply to everyone, whatever their views. Beyond that, agreement is entirely optional! Hope that clears things up.

Everyone is welcome to contribute to FWR. Not everyone here is GC, as you can see in the different threads. People just need to make their points and be prepared to justify them.

Edited for extra clarity

Lexibletheflexible · Yesterday 12:33

Yet we have posters here who still insist that people who arent GC are disrupting the board and having comments deleted because of said insistence, so obviously, despite this very clear clarification, long term members of the board still don't understand that someone having opposing views isn't an attack on them or the board itself and they are very welcome here.

We are having this conversation because a poster made this assertion, I reported it, and it was deleted. I am not as sure that would have happened had I not made a big deal about getting clarification. I now have something to refer to when I report these posts.

GreyskySexRealistsky · Yesterday 12:46

Personally, I do not see this "insistence".
The reference to an "attack on them" comes across as projection.

It is obvious who reported that post, and I have a theory about why that might be. However, it is good that you admit you are reporting posts.

Suffice to say that it has been clarified by MN that all posters are welcome to post here, irrespective of whether they are GC or not.

It can sometimes come as a bit of a shock to posters to be challenged on the things they post here, but as long as they have a solid argument to back up their statements, they should not worry.

I think the issue is not so much about dissenting views (or, if you will, about non-GC views) as about posters who use these views to derail a thread. There have been posters who will come onto a thread discussing a female biological process, or an individual woman’s experience, and try to make it all about transgenderism - when the thread never mentioned anything to do with gender or identity. Or, in this case, where the thread gets derailed by a debate over who may post on it. Which is absolutely nothing to do with poppy pins or remembrance.

Agree. Sorry for contributing to the derail, OP.

Just walked past the poppy sellers in the supermarket and thought of this thread!
