Why, just why??? Why does something as pure as remembrance need to be politicised with trans and queer ideology? Or am I being unreasonable to be triggered?!

RBL Pride Poppy Badge

All profits from the Royal British Legion Pride Poppy Badge will go towards the Royal British Legion's work in supporting the Armed Forces community.

I agree re an LGB poppy, my Grandad used to talk fondly about gay men in his squadron and how they couldn’t admit to their sexuality which was obviously incredibly wrong. It’s the use of the extended flag that bothers me, because I regard it as a toxic political ideology being forced upon us from every angle.

I agree. It's an ideology that is authoritarian and anti-democratic, so the opposite of what so many women and men have died defending.

"This badge symbolises support for our LGBTIQ+ community who are a vital part of our Armed Forces past and present.
By wearing this badge, you are showing your solidarity with those who have faced discrimination or marginalisation due to their sexual orientation or gender identity, particularly those who served under the Ban, when it was illegal to be gay, lesbian, or bisexual in the Armed Forces.
The Intersex-Inclusive Pride Flag was created by Valentino Vecchietti, an award winning intersex equality campaigner, providing a symbol of hope and acceptance for all LGBTIQ+ individuals around the world.
All profits benefit the considerable work of the Royal British Legion in supporting the Armed Forces community."

Seems fair enough if it helps raise funds while also acknowledging their contribution.

No it doesn't as previously posted on this and a core facet of FWR - ie that sex is the basis of discrimination, and this reality it diluted, hijacked by the whole rainbow umbrella politics of "Pride".

It is a forced pairing of 2 opposing understanding of biological reality.

And it is absolutely clear that money going to Pride groups means that you are funding groups who do not respect the boundaries of lesbians and gay men.

Seems really strange to have to spell this out on FWR.

You're assuming that western principles which are underpinned by egalitarianism isn't a political ideology to start with….& it is. The promotion of acceptance & equality is simply an extension of that. Being proactive in promoting OUR OWN values that our soldiers fought for & we still have trouble reckoning with is hardly being inconsistent.

punnedout · 26/10/2026 19:57

I don’t regard that as political though, nor would I for women/gurkhas (to use the other examples above)

The wonderful thing about the poppy, or the OG pride flag, or indeed the original Sampson’s, is that it doesn’t have direct representation via colour or some other clumsy metaphor.

it’s for everyone. And that’s wonderful.

it’s every reasons the progress is such a monstrosity.

I'm quite amazed at the large number of different designs. I'm not sure whether i think it is a good thing or not.

I feel bad. There should be one symbol. For everyone. Any colour any sexuality any sex or gender. The point is they died for their country nothing else.

What are you talking about? Egalitarianism?

You do understand that the Pride flag is discriminatory against lesbians and gay men.

It is the ideology that led to the necessity for FWR forum on MN to be set up.

To not have some parasitic political grouping attempt to colonise the reality of sex based rights including sexual attraction.

Er, If gay people couldn't come out I doubt trans people could. Gender reassignment isn't a protected characteristic under anti discrimination law for no reason.

Exactly how is it the Pride flag is discriminatory against lesbians and gay men?

Gender ideology leads many children, who might otherwise grow up to be gay, to think of themselves as trans instead. Staff at the Tavistock GIDS called it transing away the gay and joked that soon there would be no gay people left. Many lesbian and gay people detest that flag.

HenriettaSwanLeavitt2 · 26/10/2026 22:02

It is a political advertisement for an ideology. Even government buildings have to get planning permission to fly it, whereas the Rainbow flag does not need special permission (it has 'deemed' consent).

I think it's wrong and the wrong direction to go in. There will always be some group or other that feels left out.

One red poppy symbolising the ultimate sacrifice, everyone as equal and as great a loss as anyone else.

So much these days is so divisive, the cynical part of me thinks that that is the intention.

That some people confuse their disposition with being associated to a group isn't the fault of the group they are confusing themselves with but part of the human condition. It's normal & one of the most vital developmental tasks of growing up to 'try on' different identities to see 'what fits'. In psychology, this process is known as 'identity experimentation' & it is a completely normal, healthy way for adolescents and young adults to figure out who they are, separate from their parents.

Yeah, sure, blame the children. I swear we need to order another batch of red flags.

Its more than that though including recognising that soldiers made that sacrifice to defend our values. And there's no sense in defending our values if we don't live by them.

This is as silly as blaming straight people living their lives for some gay people denying their homosexuality. What next? Telling straight people not to 'flaunt' their heterosexuality lest some gay people get confused? Tell parents they can't bang on about religion or politics too in case little Johnny gets 'brainwashed'?

Nah, I'm not engaging with you, mate.
For any lurkers who are unaware, this is where gender ideology takes us:

In June 2026, nearly six years after she first raised concerns, a separate NHS safety investigation found that dozens of children, some as young as 13, had been inappropriately prescribed drugs at the WellBN practice, the clinic where the other doctor worked.
The report said 78 children had potentially been harmed after puberty-blocking drugs and cross sex hormones were prescribed to them without proper checks.

Dr Sarah Redvers

GP says she was forced out of job after raising concerns about gender treatment

The doctor says she faced a brutal investigation after she passed on complaints brought to her by other doctors.

Promoting your OWN values? How selfish. The poppy is about remembering others, not promoting yourself. And particularly not about promoting those who would trample over others’ rights. That’s what the Armed Forces fight to prevent.

What values does presenting a male soldier as the first woman soldier to achieve something? The values of misogyny, the value that women are not valued.

I am not alone in finding this offensive: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-37391807?app-referrer=deep-link

An incompetent underfunded health system is hardly evidence of the invalidity of gender identity.
