TT summary:

Dr Redvers, a named GP safeguarding lead, has a constructive dismissal case. Clinical concerns were raised about a specific doctor at WellBN, a Brighton GP practice. She claims that as a result of escalating those claims from 2020 onwards, she was constructively dismissed.

Her legal claim is discrimination on the grounds of her employer’s perception she had gender critical beliefs and on the grounds of her protected belief in evidence-based medicine (EBM). The respondent defends the latter claim by pleading that EBM is just an opinion.

This is so insightful. Thank you so much for sharing

This sentence hits home, when you remember SH's evangelical approach:

The narcissistic inability of the transgender practitioners to perceive the boundaries between themself and others, and their inability to perceive others as separate and different beings, has led them to design this treatment approach with the unconscious thought “What would I have liked in this situation?” instead of “What do these patients need?”.

Very unwell people, and if you bring that up it’s always framed as though it’s a separate issue, it’s everybody else’s fault for not being affirming enough. The dots are never joined. It’s chicken and egg all the way down. Wasn’t it Helen Joyce who showed a shockingly high rate of personality disorders amongst those who adopted trans identities? Considering everything we see, it certainly stacks up.

This is why it was such a masterstroke for gender ideologues to get themselves included in the gay rights movement. LGB > LGBT and with one bound the male fetishists and others with serious mental health and personality problems have rebranded themselves as the most vulnerable group in the world. Cuckoo in the nest - Stonewall and similar groups casting about for reasons to remain relevant after most of the battles around gay rights had been won were delighted to have a new cause and within months were campaigning mostly for the T and not very much at all for the LGB people. And then came QQI+ and so forth and goodness only knows who they're campaigning for now. Anybody who feels a bit different, it would seem - while all the time lesbians, gay men and bisexual people still face prejudice, adverse discrimination and violence all over the world and could really do with some support and advocacy.

Exactly.

This element will hopefully be acknowledged and grappled with in any future analysis/inquiry into what went so badly wrong in our health system in this area.

That piece is a lightbulb moment. Over the many years I've been reading about this stuff l've lost count of the number of trans activists who have justified the 'transing' of children with 'This is what I would have wanted at that age'. Working in different areas and professions but now I can see the type of personality is common and the pattern is explained.

'Seventy- three patients requesting sex reassignment surgery (SRS) were recruited for this crosssectional study. Of the participants, 57.5% were biologically male and 42.5% were biologically female. They were assessed through the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory II (MCMI- II).
Results: The frequency of personality disorders was 81.4%. The most frequent personality disorder was narcissistic personality disorder (57.1%) and the least was borderline personality disorder. The average number of diagnoses was 3.00 per patient.'

' International epidemiological data from several countries indicate that the best available estimates of the prevalence of any PD diagnosis in transgender youth are around 20% for adolescents and tend to increase to nearly 50% in trans-adults. The paucity of available data on personality dysfunction in children and adolescents with GD precluded us from definitive conclusions on the trends of emerging PDs in this population.'

I have just been reading this, they are absolutely unhinged.

Here’s what one of the Reddit posts said about PSHE

“PSHE Brighton is a terf group with a shitty wordpress site, they have no legitimacy whatsoever and the BBC is acting like they are a credible organisation
Edit: Forgot to say, but the transphobic candidate they recently endorsed in our local by-election lost to the Green candidate who actively spoke out for trans people and now PSHE are bitter about it so they have gone back to flogging this dead horse”

Campaigners from a women's group PSHE Brighton, who contacted Brighton Health and WellBeing Board about the investigation into WellBNM surgery, had their full names and addresses published. I bet that didn't happen by accident.

I assume PSHE have gone to the Data Controller with that. Should be an investigation and action taken.

Dr Attiya Sheikh is not white. Regretfully the GMC does seem to treat non white people more harshly. They also seem to have drunk the cool aid.

Dr Attiya Sheikh wasn't treated harshly because she is not white. The GMC strike off any doctor who does prison time. She was struck off after she was released from prison where she had served a 10 month sentence for selling PPE stolen from the NHS. She & her husband got off lightly.

Which kinda begs the question: would you like a transgender surgeon? Or air traffic controller? Etc etc.

Not surprised.

Welcome @eileanacheo and congratulations on your pregnancy. I haven’t been on doctors.net (shows my age!) for a long time but I’m disappointed to hear how you were treated over there. Dr Redvers’ treatment should give all of us pause for thought and definitely bears discussion.

The narcissistic angle is so interesting in medics providing treatment because generally speaking we are supposed to keep ourselves out of the consultation. I talk a lot to my students about how you should guard how much of your true self you share with patients - you almost leave yourself at the door and put your ‘work face’ on. Patients don’t necessarily want to know that your dad had bowel cancer (for example) and that’s not what you should be thinking about when you’re consulting. They have their own hopes/ fears/priorities and shouldn’t be held ransom to yours. See also ostentatious displays of allegiance, such as Palestine flag pins or Pride lanyards in the workplace. The less patients know about what we think about almost everything the better imho.

The one area, as a GP, that I found this to vary is in parenthood - I definitely disappointed people in my early years when I said that I didn’t have children (while assessing theirs) - almost as if they felt that a non-parent couldn’t possibly do as good a job. Objectively my medicine hasn’t changed as my children have grown up but parent patients definitely respond differently when I chuck in a story about my children never sleeping at night as babies. It’s a strange phenomenon that I reflect on quite regularly.

Justabaker · Today 08:49

@Prestissimo

Perhaps parenting is more of a universal (meaning broadly shared) human experience. And by sharing stories about 'less than perfect' children (never sleeping at night) you humanise yourself (not perfect) in an area where imperfection does not have terrible consequences.

It may be a desire for 'doctor' to be infallible and Olympian and 'parent' to be more like them.
