Redvers v NHS Sussex Integrated Care Board & Mr Adam Doyle Thread 3

fanOfBen · 21/10/2026 19:34

TT summary:

Dr Redvers, a named GP safeguarding lead, has a constructive dismissal case. Clinical concerns were raised about a specific doctor at WellBN, a Brighton GP practice. She claims that as a result of escalating those claims from 2020 onwards, she was constructively dismissed.

Her legal claim is discrimination on the grounds of her employer’s perception she had gender critical beliefs and on the grounds of her protected belief in evidence-based medicine (EBM). The respondent defends the latter claim by pleading that EBM is just an opinion.

I'm just going to say this straight out. I would not feel safe or comfortable being treated by Dr Hall. The tone of this blog makes me feel that Hall has zero insight into other people and is utterly obsessed by gender, seeing everything through the lens of her own transition. I also don't understand why a consultant obstetric anaesthetist would feel that re-training as a GP was the best way to be able to help patients with gender issues, including prescribing hormones and puberty blockers. Surely her medical training and experience must have suggested that endocrinology was the discipline for this? (Not that I think anybody should be prescribing these drugs for gender dysphoria. These are psychological issues and they need psychological treatment.)

Hall gave birth to three children before transitioning. What a headfuck for them. https://managementinpractice.com/views/blogs/feeling-visible-for-the-first-time-my-trans-story/

How I went from hospital consultant to GP – my trans story

To increase understanding of trans peoples’ experiences, GP Dr Samuel Hall shares his journey of coming out as a trans man while working in the NHS.

I wish a solution would be found. But at this stage, having seen every argument from those considered moderate to extreme, I cannot see that there is an accommodation for using inaccurate language.

The whole phenomenon is won or lost in the realm of language.
Foucault said "language is violence" and reality isn't objective but created by the words used.
The moment phrases like trans women are women became default, preferred pronouns as obligations, the situation was already gamed.
The ideology took advantage of a liberal society that always looks to compromise and "get along" to create an illiberalism that broaches no dissent.
15 years on, with almost a generation of liberal academics, educationalists, health professionals and law makers in thrall, rearguard action by GCs going to court and the JKR megaphone have been the only things attempting to push back.
Preferred pronouns is the language equivalent of toilets policy in this uncivil war.
The cry goes out, why the issue with pronouns, it's only decorum and respect and non victimisation, ditto why the issue with toilets, just showing trans IDd they're not shut out of civic life.
But of course they're "not just" nothing. Pronouns are the gateway drug in language changes, one day preferred pronouns, the next trans women are women, the next the battle is lost because language is sequestered.. Toilets are the gateway drug in day to day practicalities, one day TW can use women's toilets, the next the boundaries on sports and prisons are blurred to uselessness.
My fear is that the language pivot cannot easily if at all be reversed.

@Helleofabore and @HenriettaSwanLeavitt2 Yeah, you may both be right. I'm a bit undecided. If the situation hadn't become so distorted by authoritarianism, entitlement and narcissism there would be space for each of us to reach our own accommodation on the issue, without being monstered. That's the key failing, the complete replacement of normal plurality with a conjured-up orthodoxy that no-one can remember signing up to. If that went away, a solution might emerge.

Yes, I agree. In the alternative timeline it could have happened. In this timeline, no. We gave an inch by allowing a handful of HSTS men to play at being women, without making a massive fuss. The TRAs ran with that and tried to take everything from women and fertility and health from children. There is no coming back from that in the timeline we inhabit.

It's a lot easier to train as a GP (3 years) than become a Consultant Endocrinologist (7-8 years minimum) & far less competitive. What I gathered from that article was something more sinister that Dr Hall deliberately retrained as a GP to maximise her ability to proselytise all things "trans" & prescribe PBs & CSH to children.

The full extent of the WellBN scandal has not yet been revealed but they seem to just be carrying on as before but without Dr Hall. They pathetically apologise on their website that "We have had to temporarily pause initiating new NHS prescriptions for gender affirming care to anyone under the age of 18." The Sussex & Surrey ICB is aware of what is going as they paying for it all.

I'm reading a lot of Róisín Michaux in Europe/EU, things are absolutely ruined over there. The Anglophone world is in a very bad place, Australia, NZ, Canada.
The US? Shows signs of sanity, but one term of a radical Democrat president and Woke 2 will make Woke 1 look like a dress rehearsal.
The UK is holding the line, but it's a very tenuous thing.

For Cass, the scandal that has unfolded in Brighton “dwarfs” that of the Tavistock’s Gids. She called on the GMC to immediately suspend Hall. “I really would want to ask why he still has a licence to practise.”

Hilary Cass agrees.

We women are used to agitating from a position of disadvantage. I wonder if you feel the distress differently because you are a man. Not snipey. Genuine thought.

Agree.

I don't actually like using pronouns that I know will upset the person concerned. I feel sorry for many of them. But if it is a choice between vulnerable children being sterilised, mutilated, and harmed, and upsetting people, I can do nothing else but use the language that breaks the spell.

ArabellaScott · 25/10/2026 15:09

Good to hear strong words from Hilary Cass.

ProfDrLapwing · 25/10/2026 15:09

Did I dream that someone from, I think nhs England, pretty much applauded the WellBN/Sussex/TransHealthHub approach of taking over from private prescribers. They observed that it could be a good model to promote more widely.

I’ve looked back through Tribunal Tweets but am now wondering if I imagined it. Does it ring a bell with anyone else?

We will have to hope that Cass and the DHSC investigate as promised. I suspect that we are beginning to witness a massive clash of ideologies at the highest levels.

BlueLegume · 25/10/2026 15:14

The Hannah Barnes article in actual print in the Times is sobering. A full page. Much more impactful for me than reading online.

I teared up as I was sat reading at the very same table I read about the Tavistock years ago. I remember thinking then ‘thank goodness for the whistleblowers’. If only we knew then that it would just get worse and we would also be expected to embrace the increasing number of men in frocks.

Dark part of humanity all round.

It is half term in England. I do hope the article is being circulated around every safeguarding lead in every school. Time to wake up to this scandal.

Of course I feel it differently because I'm a man.
Ironically I went thru a very "I don't feel like a male" as a sensitive teen as I was a bit ostracized by the sporty lads in my grammar school, and I had an <inkling> of AGP type feelings (such a hazy memory I can't recall it in detail). Today Id likely be diagnosed with some ADHD label, and maybe would tack to non binary. I don't know.
All I know is that I'm aware of that side of me from decades ago, my younger adult life in a not so healthy place re my attitude to women, I've moved past all that, and feel I have some deeper insight into trans ideology than 99% of men I converse with.
Re how I feel about it compared to women, there's no comparison.
Trans ideology is a clear and present danger to you, it's tangential to me.
A transman (I won't use a break in the word) is a moment of embarrassment in the men's loo at the pub or shower at the gym, no physical threat in my sports or prison if I ended up there.
No, for me, my anger is generated by the strong emotion of women being compromised by this bait and switch in society, kids at risk both medically and by society lying to them, and the threat as I see it to language, ethics, hight trust society and decay of liberal principles that the West has evolved and perfected since the Enlightenment.
It's why I call trans an illiberal anti-human(itarian) endeavour.
So, I don't experience trans ideology as a man in any physical way myself, but I'm hugely aware of the sheer frustration of women, feel hugely for kids caught up, and can't avoid the elephant in the room, the reordering of the post liberal future.

Read a blog from a psychotherapist type who was so excited to join a team working with amongst others trans IDing kids.
As time wore on, she cried herself to sleep as she saw one client after another affirmed as trans by checklist diagnosis.
Any pushback from her led to the most draconian reactions.
If we ever climb out of this hole the West has dug for itself, the societal repercussions will be something to behold.
I place silence on the grooming gangs alongside.

Hannah Barnes was logged in and watching the tribunal. It shows. That is an excellent article. We've been here before but it does feel like something has shifted. To see all the cowards and ideologues called to account at a public inquiry - oh yes, bring it on.

Awaiting that primetime docu-drama exposé in the vein of the Post Office/Horizon and water pollution scandals ones in 3...2...1...
Not holding my breath.
Still see the MSM shying away from this story and the whole range of scandals this ideology has supported, from the Tavistock, to WPATH, to nurses taking their NHS employers to court, even to Sturgeon and her gender ID Bill humiliation.
Seems to me the final reckoning on all this toxicity is <still> not at hand.

Hannah Barnes and Nick Wallace both have form for raising issues to an unignorable level, and they've got their teeth firmly into this. Multiple newspapers are now on board, with some solid staff and regular contributors keeping it ticking over between the big splashes about specific cases. The BBC is shifting.

It may be too early still to cast the docudrama, but we'll get there.
