‘Woman’ missing in Southampton

Now I hope that this person is found safe and well - but this is not a woman! Why is Samantha being described as a woman? This helps no one, neither the person who is missing nor those searching for him.

You didn't need to repeat it. It was unnecessary and you could have just said "given your earlier comment I don't think your concern is genuine". I managed to reference the comment without spelling it out. Those who saw it, knew what it said you. In addition, if you genuinely thought it likely that Samantha would read this thread, as you claim, then it was nasty.

You kept it going. You also were creative with the truth regarding why you revived the thread.

And you don’t think @Ereshkigalangcleg and the like would have all yellled ‘WHAT EARLIER COMMENT? WHERE IS YOUR EVIDENCE?’ at me relentlessly if I’d done that?

Nobody yelled! People are entitled to ask for evidence or proof. It's how this bit of MN works.

What's really going on here?

So true. There is no actual concerns for the vulnerable adult, there's just ranting, repeating deleted comments (I don't think that's in the spirit) and picking fights.

No woman is missing.

No yelling happened.

I’m repeating deleted comments because I want @mumsnet to accept the whole thread needs to be deleted. A load of vicious transphobes cannot have a respectful conversation about a missing trans woman, and it’s been proved multiple times over the course of this thread.

You’re not concerned about a vulnerable missing person, or you wouldn’t have taken ANOTHER opportunity to write ‘man’ there. This whole thread was started in bad faith, and YOU are continuing to post in bad faith.

You're beginning to sound unhinged. None of the accusations you're making are true, someone suggesting you should provide evidence of false accusations you're making isn't defending that poster. And I don't imagine Eresh will give a bugger about your opinion on her work either ("you’re not working for women’s rights and you’re deluding yourself if you think you are").

I hope no-one reports your posts to MN, they are very illuminating.

Meanwhile Samantha remains missing.

In the words of The Rolling Stones, you can't always get what you want. Fortunately foot stamping doesn't work here.

Why would that matter? These are strangers on the internet (although no one is yelling). You would have made your point, that you felt the concern wasn't genuine, you wouldn't have repeated a comment that you found vile (yet apparently didn't really care whether a missing, vulnerable person saw your repetition of it) and you could have moved on. You knew what was said, the person who posted it would have known what they said. Why is the performance so important?

A cynic might think you're just trying to provoke a reaction to get the thread pulled, which is your ultimate aim.

You don’t have to be a cynic. I’ve literally said I want the thread pulled.

Yes, and you can't get it pulled because of the 'rampant transphobia' as that only exists in your head, so you are trying to provoke reactions based on two deleted comments. Everyone can see what you are attempting.

Agree. Missing person or missing transwoman but saying woman makes the press release pretty useless.

It's not useless, because every one of us instantly knows that's a man. And they know we know that.

The irony is you cause more harm to trans people than any regulars on here do. The majority just want spaces just for females away from men regardless of how they identify. Transphobia now has no meaning thanks to you and your lot. Slow hand clap.

It literally starts with the word woman in quotation marks as the title of the the thread. From the very start, it’s been an opportunity for transphobes to kick a vulnerable missing trans woman. Nobody needs to keep saying ‘bloke’ to make a case for using trans woman instead of just woman the press, and yet they do.

no, the irony is that you ‘gender critical’ transphobes cause more harm to cis women than any trans woman ever has.

Because this poster wants the incompliant women to be scolded.

Damned radical feminists, with our concerns about women's rights, accurate language and data collection, safety and security of women and girls, who dare to use a board about Feminism, Sex and Gender for it's stated purposes.

Harpies, the lot of us.

Meanwhile, Samantha is still not found, and obfuscating language isn't going to help change that.

But as the only criteria to be a “transwoman” is to be a man, and lots of people use the word bloke to refer to men, what is the problem?

the fact you keep on pointing out this is a “transwoman” and not a woman makes it very clear you don’t believe this person is a woman in any way.

lcakethereforeIam · 20/10/2026 10:26

There's only one poster who's constantly posting what they say are unflattering words to describe, as far as I can gather, completely speculative descriptions of the breasts of this missing man. I understand earlier comments by someone were deleted. If it wasn't for this poster's faux concern that should have been the end of it. This poster seems to be determined though to post over and over and over again words that they say means Samantha's breasts are 'disgusting'. Not through concern that he might read it but because they think they've got one over on other posters. Some people may have 'tuberous' breasts, get over it. I think the word was used by someone who claimed to have these and be worrying about their body image. Assuming that poster was in good faith they definitely are on MN and are far more likely than Samantha to be reading, thanks to one poster, that their breasts are 'like testicles'. That poster may not have started it, those posts were deleted, but they've kept it going and amplified it.

I have used trans woman, not transwoman. Trans is an adjective, describing a woman.

There’s no such thing as a “cis woman”. It’s just your ideological in-group jargon that 99% of people will disregard, and substitute “actual” for.

Canadanian · 20/10/2026 10:29

I have used trans woman, not transwoman. Trans is an adjective, describing a woman.

But trans means opposite. So by saying transwoman, you are saying that person is the opposite of a woman, therefore a man. See, language matters. 😃
