Can you be a fully trans inclusive feminist?

Inspired from another thread where it was out of place so I brought it here.

Someone seemed to claim that it was possible to be both be a feminist and to be trans inclusive, where by trans inclusive they mean males in women's spaces and shortlists (the attitude to sport wasn't stated).

I don't believe that you can truly be both, do you?

I totally agree that men are impacted by patriarchy too.

However it’s not feminism's job to address this

Feminism is the only thing that actually identifies patriarchy in the first place. Take feminism away and nobody's naming those structures at all, because other ways of looking at the world either don't see it or deny it exists. So if men are being harmed by patriarchy, feminism is the lens that spots it and calls it out.
If you mean it's not women's job to fix it, then yes, I agree with you. But that's not the same as it not being feminism's job. The person doing the advocating or being on the front line doesn't have to be a woman.

Not saying every feminist has to take it on either. Just that it sits within feminism, not outside it.

I don't think the reproductive system should be the deciding factor. It will be true for most people, but not all.

I believe in most cases it's quite direct. Being addressed as a boy and becoming alienated because that's not what you are. Being referred to as a daughter and thinking that's not right. A consistent experience of alienation that can be alleviated by transition.

A feeling of alienation

its just a feeling?

a feeling that relies on you being the sex you are or you couldn’t feel it ?

this is so laughable twisted

And where does it leave their female former partners. If they believed themselves to be straight, do they now have to accept they are bisexual?

It's a taxing thing to go through! I think some do and some don't. There's couples who bridge that gap, and yes, I might call the wife bisexual, but ultimately she was in love with a person and not a penis. However often enough it doesn't work out, and it's really sad, but I'd say it's the same as when someone comes out as a lesbian or as gay after many years. It can't really be helped.

So another version of ‘sex should be defined as something other than sex’ then.

Well no, because that’s ridiculous. It’s also makes women’s rights impossible to defend,

There is no right way to be a boy or a girl and we should never encourage anyone to believe that. Men and women can express themselves as they want, wear what they want.

If people can’t bear their sex to be acknowledged, they need therapy, not the definition of words that have existed since the dawn of civilisation to be changed

It’s just pure waffly speculation to reverse engineer an explanation of how a man can have a lady brain.

TheKeatingFive · 07/10/2026 19:37

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/10/2026 19:24

These discussions: “well it’s interesting that you have your established facts, risk profiling and logic and lived experience of your biological sex, but I think my incoherent, stereotype-based quasi-religious belief where I can’t quite explain how men are in any way like women but they totally are, and so you should give up your safety, privacy and dignity for this ideological concept” - so frustrating

It blows my mind that people think we should go along with such scientifically illiterate, ill thought through garbage.

I mean, why would we?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/10/2026 19:37

Poster believes men can be women, so poster has made up an explanation that they think is plausible

CreativeGreen · 07/10/2026 19:37

How does this boy know that’s “not what he is”?

No becuase they have said there isn’t a lady brain

just a feeling inside the brain / body

Well quite. Unfortunately, up until quite recently, we were expected to.

I mean. The difference between a loving marriage or a loveless marriage is a feeling, and I think everyone would agree it's a massive difference. Trans boys feel like impostors being girls. Trans girls feel like impostors being boys. Living a lie is more than "a feeling".

I feel like we need the Enlightenment 2.0.

Because it seems like the lessons of the last one have been lost.

We do not make laws and organise society on ‘feelings’ when we have objective, verifiable, scientific evidence at our disposal.

How do you think we should decide who is a woman and who is a man if not based on sex?

You will love this answer, but the person decides. You cannot tell people that they have to be a woman or man, it's genuinely does not work. You're only getting people who feel like being in a play every day of their life.

Yes but whatever anyone feels about it, it’s still a marriage. Just unlike sex, it can be reversed - almost

That’s why you tell women they can be women in any way they please, and men can be men in any way they please.

You absolutely can. No one can escapes their biology no matter how much they would like to.

It's not an idiology, but yes. I think my answer would be the same, though obviously only the woman in question can say.
