There's been a spate of threads recently about things JK Rowling has shamefully failed to comment on. Wouldn't it be easier to put them all in a single thread?

I'll start.

JK Rowling has shamefully failed to comment on the Manchester City fraud scandal.

If your roof does leak and JK doesn’t help with a quick swish-flick then I thoroughly recommend something called Fabsil Gold. My car roof leaked all last winter but a few coats of this has made it waterproof again. Like magic it is.

I’m disappointed that JK hasn’t messaged me to commiserate about the massive bruise on my arm from a blood test yesterday.

I stubbed my little and fourth toes on the bloody cat scratching board in the dark last night and now have a bloody enormous black bruise across the base of said toes. I'm hobbling everywhere and where's the sympathy from her authorship? Nowhere! Hmmmph.

look we all know she's very busy annoying people on twitter and destroying the biosphere with her MEGA YACHT but the very least she could do is task one of her eleventy thousand lawyers to get an intern send you a nice card and a 2.50 costa voucher (enough for half a coffee).

I wouldn't hold your breath though.

Tears0fTheMushroom · 20/10/2026 14:17

And you know what, while I'm here, why hasn't she spoken up about the fact that liquid hand wash bottles always seem to end up with the pump facing the WRONG BLOODY WAY. Facing the back or the side of the bottle so you can't have it forward facing on the basin or shelf.

It's infuriating. Surely something needs to be done? How hard can it be to put the damn thing on straight?
But does JKR care? Of course not. She probably has a house elf decant her hand wash into posh containers.

Oh I'm not. I know she doesn't care about my grevious injury.

I'm still in two minds as to whether the loo roll should hang towards or away from the wall. I had hoped that JKR would make some sort of statement on this weighty subject - tumbleweed.

<sharp intake of breath>. Oooh, no! I mean it's one thing to throw yourself into the trans debate, which is relatively peaceful and calm, but the front/back loo roll debate is sooooo toxic and divisive. I can undersand public figures being very wary of comment. She has to consider her safety, not to mention the economic fallout for the Potter brand

My cat is utterly obsessed with loo roll in an Andrex puppy kind of way so I’m just grateful if there’s any in the bathroom as it’s usually unraveled half way down the hall. Has JK been in touch about a cat proof loo roll holder, no she hasn’t.

It’s like jam first/cream first on a scone

Indeed, she needs to correct my 'D'H and his persistent mis-pronuncition but does she?

Apparently if you hang loo roll with the end to the back, (which is obviously wrong), it does stop cats, puppies and small children from pulling on the end and unravelling the loo roll.

Obviously it looks better with the end hanging to the front, but causes a lot of waste when pulled by small animals nand children.

Would JKR have explained this? Definitely not.

GailBlancheViola · 20/10/2026 21:52

And where does JKR stand on (i) shoes on/off inside and (ii) toilet brush yes/no.?

This is crucial stuff as endless threads on MN testify, just a word from JKR will settle these serious issues once and for all.

Wishesandhorses · 20/10/2026 22:44

And how many meals can she make a chicken serve a family of four? <stern look>

And does she let her washing get darked on?

Own up, JKR.

DrBlackbird · 20/10/2026 22:51

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/10/2026 23:38

Defo. Unforgivable.

And on these threads we see ample evidence of that drop in comprehension skills… JKR needs to apologise pronto for inflicting these posts on us.

Does she fold the end into a triangle though? Like they do in hotels. I bet she doesn't. Common.

I don’t know about dogs or small children, but it would take more than that to stop a determined cat.

You're just going to have to padlock the toilet and bathroom doors.

Would JKR advise you to do that? No.

Would she steal the padlock key so you can't find it when you're bursting? Absolutely.

She’d be far more likely to break in & give all the loo roll she could find to the cat / dog / small child. Then lock the door & take the key.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 21/10/2026 09:19

She’d swallow the key.

Iheartmysmart · 21/10/2026 09:30

She would probably mix the key in with lots of others and make them fly around so you’d need to take to the air on a broomstick to find it. Not ideal when you’re desperate for a wee.

Unfortunately a loo roll hanging against the wall merely makes my cat even more determined - and the paint pays the price. I’ve started putting a nearly empty roll on the floor for her and keeping the actual one in use higher up. That way she thinks she’s won. Did JK suggest that though, nope I had to work it out myself.

Unlike a certain person I'm brave enough to tackle the issue.

Of course.

The correct way to say scone is “scone”.

Only a fiend would say “scone”, as I’m sure JKR knows.
