There's been a spate of threads recently about things JK Rowling has shamefully failed to comment on. Wouldn't it be easier to put them all in a single thread?

I'll start.

JK Rowling has shamefully failed to comment on the Manchester City fraud scandal.

I'm busy doing Boomer things today too... like counting my huge state pension over and over again. How's that for activism? It's nearly as much as that JKR earns. I've bought a pedalo on the local boating lake, am smoking a Lambert and Butler and having a glass of Lambrini while I'm at it.

Similarly to the UK, about 8% of rapes are successfully prosecuted in America, so I don’t have quite as much faith in the courts as you do!

ANYWAY We have been distracted from our happy trivial complaints, which is a shame, because they were cheering up my day.

As an evil boomer, I have my kettle by my bed, filled and ready to have its button pressed but this morning I realised I had forgotten my little milk flask so I had to go downstairs to get it myself, no with help, as my first child used to say. Where was she when I needed her? Hopefully she is sponsoring Humour 101 for the OU!

I suspect it's a killer point to make if you want to get kudos on other social media platforms.

Maybe I should join bluesky? I think they would be very interested in Rowling's failure to comment on local government reorganisation in England.

It’s not about her saying if it good or bad; it’s about her choosing to be part of the advocacy & campaigning that’s taking place, or not. She doesn’t have to of course, but people are allowed to consider what her choice says about her and her motivations.

As I said earlier, the important thing is the tweet. So be it if the trial is thrown out because the defendants can claim that the media circus prevented them they getting a fair trial. At least the victim would know that she had that tweet.

But JK Rowling has always played the long game. Decades of 'supporting' women's rights. Possibly quite a lot of money spent ensuring that women in the UK don't lose legal protections against sex discrimination. And all to hide her real motive.

If you zoom in you can see the whiskers on ChenDog who is vey vey sad today, because not only has JKR not commented on Things, she hasn't been round to walk him. To be fair though, he was a complete arsehole on his morning walk so I don't blame her.

If JKR hasn't made favourable comments on the terrier in a fascinator, or the cutest hamster in the WORLD, she is indeed shameful beyond words.

Both the Met and BBC weather apps said it would be dry today. I need to put washing out and get the grass cut. It has just rained. This is undoubtedly the fault of JKR who not only failed to control the weather but is responsible for all useless apps (and men) everywhere.

I would also like to be assured (by JKR obvs) that nicepotoftea’s washing (which JKR had failed to bring in by 9am this morning) WAS NOT OUT ALL NIGHT GETTING DARKED ON.

Too busy doing things like quietly paying out behind the scenes to save hundreds of women from death in Afghanistan. And shunning publicity around that. Disgraceful!
